Halo 3 beta signup begins, new trailer airs

[UPDATE 3] Microsoft opens up registration for multiplayer testing of Halo 3 in early December; new 60-second spot inside!

In November, Bungie Studios and Microsoft announced that they had a huge announcement regarding Halo 3. Many hardcore fans were let down when the news was merely the announcement of a beta program...that wouldn't even start until spring 2007.

Today, registration for the beta program began at the Halo 3 Web site. The beta will initially be open to North American gamers, and not everyone who applies is guaranteed a spot. To participate, gamers must have: a) An Xbox 360 with a hard-drive; b) A valid Xbox Live Gold subscription; c) A valid Microsoft. NET Passport account with a Xbox Live GamerTag linked to it. More details on the beta-sign up can be found on halo3.com.

[UPDATE 3] A new 60-second Halo 3 ad aired during last night's Monday Night Football matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers. It is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace, Xbox.com, and via the link below.

Halo 3 is due out in 2007 exclusively for the Xbox 360.

    Well the graphics are going to be like any other Xbox 360 game, but this beta is a must for everyone with Xbox Live, I wonder how many people they're accepting.

    halo is "THE GAME" is what all xbox owners proclaim. i owned the original xbox and i beat it under 8 hours. not as a big surprise but someone beat it in 3 hours ... on legendary mode even. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6155963.html?q=halo%202%20record

    i am not running to the store to get a 360 for this. it's just another shooter. this is such an overrated game.

    i seem to remember getting the same feeling when i saw the halo 2 movie where he was walking through the ship grabbing the Assault Rifle.... yet, i was dissapointed after a couple of weeks of playing the game. Amazed by this vid, but cant help to think the same could happen again. Hope they sorted out the host on live, cant stand that... thats why i stopped playing. And to sony_Hater about the delays, remember they did delay halo 2 and look what happened lol, not much to be honest. But hopefully they used some of the feedback from other gamers.

    Sony_Hater, I have to agree with you. I know this may sound like blashemy, but Halo 2 (storyline wise, not multiplayer) seemed a bit rushed. I hope Halo 3 ties all the loose ends.

    I wouldn't be surprised to hear if Bungie is gonna delay the game and its good if tehy do. Before you guys panic hear me out. I'm saying this because if Bungie rushed it, the game will not be good or the way we expected it to be. Also the Shenmue game for the Dreamcast took forever but it turned out to be a wicked game which was worth the wait. smae with the game Legen of Zelda the ... of time for the N64. BEAUTIFUL GAME, LOTS OF DELAYS BUT BEAUTIFUL. So if you think about what your parents or brother or anyone says "It's worth the wait"

    OK, i just figured it out, bungie said it would be a combination of Live action/ CG/ and gameplay right?
    but no one seems to notice it, fist off! you need to have downloaded the trailer from XBL, and you need a HD TV to notice the difference, specially the CG to gameplay switch!
    so here it is.
    LIVE ACTION: ovious, when John and Kelly are talking
    CG(computer graphic): when the Shief is getting up, to the point where he starts to run and the second explotion hapens.
    GAMEPLAY: right after he runs out of the Dust cloud to jump off the clif.
    YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION, You can notice the difference, buts kinda hard, just pay attention to the change on his armor, the lines are blured in the CG and in the GAMEPLAY they are sharper as any HD image would look.
    go see the trailer, you'll see it!

    2nd thing: Whoever is sayin that the commercial isn't good or the graphics isn't good, you should watch it on HD or on the XBOX360, then talk

    okay Ramnik99, in the trailer when John and Kelly are talking that is not in the book, bungie is just playin that. its nowhere in any of the books, bungie put that there so people can find out wats happenin, if they got sumthin out of the books it would be confusin 4 someppl.

    To guys who don't know who the kids were. The boy was John 117 (master chief) and the girl was Kelly at planet reach

    For people who want 2 register 4 beta. if u sign up and there is a page sayin 2006 Microsoft coperation and its a white screen, you have to do everything again until it says "Thank you for Registring".

    But thats the thing it is much different than Gears of War and Rainbow 6...nevertheless i am hoping that the game wont be like call of duty 3 was to the series. Sure its a great game but it was almost identical to CoD 2. That was what made Halo 2 so much better, what they added on to the game

    Halo 3 looks good yes, but how much action will there be? Will it have as much as Resistance? One more thing. Killzone is supposed to be exceeding expectations currenly. Let's just hope it will be good. Halo 3 looks like it may be good, but it could use BF style multiplayer mode. Grunts are 1 pt., jackkals 3, jackals w/shield 5, bug covenant 8, elites no shield 12, elites cloak 15, elites shield 20, brute 25.
    UNSC could be marine 5, marine armored 8, ODST 12, ODST in spartan armor 15, spartan 20. egineer 3.

    It also needs weapon customization like RS: Vegas. We will have to wait and see if H3's multi will be good, so far it is basic and boring.

    A while back, on this forum, people were talking about the direct link to the halo 3 sign up form and people were afraid that signing up early could take away any chances they had of getting the beta. Well... I checked the Bungie.net website and i found out that people who signed up early most likely have a valid registration. (Yay for me)

    Just one thing I want to know... how (or when) do we find out if we've been selected or if our registration forms made it through. If anyone finds out please post it...

    And btw, it'd be awesome if you could chuck that "shield grenade" at a teammate while playing online, saving him from getting killed

    and the end of the day, its all games and its all games and its all a waste of time if u play for longer than 2 hours on one sitting. U ppl take it too far with all this fanboyism and research about wavelengths. SHEESH look at it for wot it is not for wot u want it 2 be. It's a fictional games that was made for u 2 have fun on. Systems are made for u 2 get entertained by, not 4 u 2 have these debates on. All u should get out of it is a bit of fun and nothing else. U dont acheive anything when u complete a game. U just feel a hunger 4 more games. And then u find urself wasting money. And ur life with some games (oblvion, world of warcraft etc.)

    uh... last time i checked... mp4 is just a codec... and uh... i can do it with itunes. uh... blu ray uses a higher wavelength laser to fit more 1s and 0s on the disc. oh and it's a slimmer disk, that is scratch resistant, oh and it uses MPEG-2 - enhanced for HD, also used for playback of DVDs and HDTV recordings.
    MPEG-4 AVC - part of the MPEG-4 standard also known as H.264. If you're gonna make assumptions, and believe the crap gamestop employees tell you ... then leave it at home son.... and next time bring your A game. I know what I'm talking about.

    And just to get it out... I'm gonna make this time I wasted worth it. I thought there was gonna be gameplay on this trailer... well anywho, it looked nice, but again where's what matters? If only you kids would **** about that the way you ****ed about the Killzone trailer from E3 on PS3. But no... we've got a double standard.

    Now from these screenshots... Gears of War still looks alot better. I mean the grime on gears is nuts. and the particle and blood! WOOOO! Halo is just too polished i guess. I mean the style is cool, but change the look... please... you've done 3 games, and they all look the same.

    Was the ad for halo 3 a mix of cgi and real game footage? I thought it was supposed to be that way. If it was I really couldn't tell the difference when cgi and game engine crossed paths. Very cool though.

    Halo 3 trailer was a good time. The flashback and subtle details are freaking brilliant from a marketing standpoint. That short spot was enough to generate months of discussion amongst the Halo aficionados. Can't wait for the game.

    i am excited for this title, but would like to see in game action graphics, not hick arse CG as usal for most games demo. PS3 games actully show alot of in game action though in there previews though i noticed...hmm superior graphics are on the way and in the making...go sony.

    Damn this place turned all dumb with all this talk about ps3 and 360, O and when i said the trailer gave me chills, That was a good thing i liked it i thought it was cool. anyways as far as the ps3 goes. its kinda alot and there isnt good games just yet maybe later and when there is good games to be played and they do fix alot of stuff wrong with it ill get one till then, like greg, k. Said ill stick with my Xbox 360..
