CellFactor: Revolution dated

Physics-heavy sci-fi shooter from Artificial Studios makes debut this spring; game will be on display at CES from January 8-11.

While spring is often portrayed as a time when flowers burst forth from the ground and baby deer frolic through the meadow, Artificial Studios wants gamers to see it as a time of gunplay, wanton destruction, and fragging.

The independent developer today announced that its upcoming PC shooter CellFactor: Revolution (once known as CellFactor: Combat Training) will be released this spring. Previously, the game carried a nonspecific "TBA 2007" release date.

Though Artificial doesn't nail down any hard release date, it does hint at March being the month the game ships. A statement from the company released today says CellFactor will be available approximately one year from the time it debuted at GDC 2006 last March, and a few months after this year's CES (January 8-11), where it will be demoed to attendees.

The first-person shooter is set in the future and features "true-to-life" physics, including "realistic cloth, fluid, and scattered debris effects." For more on CellFactor: Revolution, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

Well seeing how this game requires a physX card. I don't think a 360 has one...

I don't think this game will work on a PC. Asking players to buy a physics card and possibly a new video card for one game doesn't make good business sense. Chances are it will work on the X360.

"And who said theres gonna be a Xbox 360 version?
I believe this is a PC game only."

cough cough....Obvlivion....cough cough....F.E.A.R....cough cough..PC gamers have nothing sacred anymore accept turned based RTS games..only a matter of time till Blizzard milks ever ounce of WoW and ports it to 360..just wait till a good keyboard/mouse accessory comes out. do you smell what M$ is cookin? they own you and there is noting you can do about it...sure..go buy Linux...but as long as gamers are kept fat and happy with games they like the fact that M$ runs the show will become less and less of an issue.

After this game has been released I hope they give the game out for free with the purchase of a physx card. Thye are using the game to market the card so its only fair they do that.

They still try to make you buy that PhisX card, right? And they don`t intend on adding the possibility of calculating the physics on the graphics card? Sigh... I`ll buy it when I see more games come out that uses this PhisX card, and when I consider that it`s worth the money.

this game and the netdevil UE3-based fully destructible environments title that was discusses last week are starting to make the physics card look like an interesting piece of hardware.. the price is also coming down on them which is certainly welcome. the proof is, as always, in the game play though

Wow, I've never even heard of this... Shows what I know.

It's too bad the game won't have realistically scattered debris, though...

The game features an "epic storyline set in a industrial warehouse atmosphere"... right. Maybe they'll have gigantic wars between disgruntled warehouse workers or something.

But honestly, this game still seems like an Ageia tech demo, and other than the physics, doesn't seem to offer anything new in the field of FPS shooters. The gameplay even seems derived, but, I could be wrong, so I guess we'll have to see...
