Saints Row coming to PS3

THQ confirms that the previously Xbox 360-exclusive gangsta game will be coming to Sony's next-gen platform; bangin' begins this spring.

Within the first few months that the PlayStation 3 went on sale in the US and Japan, games which had previously been slated as PS3 platform-exclusive titles--including Assassin's Creed, Unreal Tournament III, Fatal Inertia, and Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War--were announced as branching out to other platforms.

Now, one major Xbox 360 title has been announced as jumping the other way and heading to the PS3. THQ has confirmed rumours that Saints Row will be skidding and blasting its way onto the platform in the second quarter of 2007. The game will be playable online via the PlayStation Network, but the publisher made no mention of what PS3-exclusive additions, if any, would be made.

Saints Row is an open-ended action game in which players star as a member of the 3rd Street Saints gang in the city of Stilwater, exploring the vast urban sprawl and battling rival gangs. For more on the game, check out the review of the Xbox 360 version.

    i think that saint row 2 should have stayed exclusive to xbox 360 just like saints row 1

    Relax PS3 fans, it's not coming to PS3 after all. Well, yeah, to bad for you guys. They're not making it for PS3. However Saints Row 2 will be coming both to PS3 and 360. Saints Row 1 stays 360 exclusive.

    PS3 version was cancelled. Don't get too excited about it.

    jimmarn, how will microsoft kill the GTA games? They dont make them and they don't have an exclusive license on GTA. Therefore its 100% impossible for Microsoft to kill GTA.

    it was a good game at the time it came out, but with it taking so long to come out on the ps3 i don't think it will sell too much

    this is good news. Always wanted to play Saints row but was saving for a PS3 and didnt want a 360 for just the one game... so this is great now I can get the PS3 version

    360 version didnt have (pilotable) planes coz of the missing hard-drives. maybe we will have planes to fly in the ps3 version

    The catch here is if the PS3 continues to get ports of 360 games and they don't sell well the ports could dry up in the future. Consider these initial 360 ports test cases, if they sell well you get more, if they don't the publishers will not spend the money to port them. I happen to like the multi-platform releases since we finally get to look at the systems heads up and get a more clear picture of which releases get better features and we get a choice as to which system to buy the games on.

    Epic isn't owned by anyone. Hell, UT2k4 was published by Atari, wasn't it? Gears was done by Epic and Microsoft Games Studios.

    Anyways, doesn't matter what the PS3 gets, it still doesn't seem like a good investment yet.

    The point is that Gears of War is not owen by microsoft Epic games its a midway company that i guess microsoft pay them just to do that game for the 360 but soon or later epic games will find out that if they make Gears of War for ths PS3 they will make sooooooo much money so i wnt be surprise if Gears of War jumps in to the strongest system available the PS3!!!!!

    Saints Row is so crap. I have it on X360, but I hate it. These games will never be the same as GTA Series. GTA Rocks!

    This is not surprising at all. It's pretty much a third party developer, anyway. I was reading over at IGN that Square hinted at making "original" games for the 360 and Wii. While the Wii did not surprise (because of Crystal Chronicles on the GC), I was surprised to hear that they might do something for the 360.

    Anyway.. my point is, exclusivity is DYING. Even the most tightly gripped by the buttocks exclusive developers are developing for rival systems. At that point, it's all going to come down to the price of the system, the performance, and what remaining exclusives are left.

    Not sure if this is a good thing.

    um jop360, the same could be said of microsoft. I seem to remember them buying develpors (i.e. Rare) and game rights (Dead Rising) to gain an edge. And the article also mentions a few games that were originally ps3 exclusives that became multi-platform. Its not just sony.

    Saints Row was never an exclusive, it never said Only On Xbox 360, we had it since august on 360, so ps3 can have it anyways, it's old news now
