Harvey Birdman roosting on PSP, PS2

Cartoon Network's animated attorney-at-law joins Capcom's aviary of legal eagles.

To paraphrase Capcom, "I'll take the case!"

At a San Francisco press event last night, the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney publisher confirmed it had acquired the rights to another animated bastion of litigious justice. Capcom has entered into an agreement to make games based on Cartoon Network's Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, part of the same Adult Swim lineup that spawned Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Robot Chicken.

The game will be released on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, and a Capcom executive told GameSpot at the event that it would have a courtroom setting reminiscent of Phoenix Wright. The game is being developed by High Voltage Software, which created the most recent Leisure Suit Larry game, as well as the Hunter: The Reckoning series.

The deal is part of Capcom's ongoing efforts to go after more TV and film licenses, and one of the first publicly acknowledged fruits of its increased presence in Los Angeles. For more on the latest Capcom news, read GameSpot's coverage of the Capcom Gamer's Day.

Harvey Birdman was one of the best Adult Swim shows ever...let's hope this game does the source material justice!

If they just pull the gameplay from Phoenix Write and use the writers from the show it could turn out pretty good.

It appears that Harvey Birdman is going to penetrate the PS2...HA! HA! penetration. Stephen Colbert must be in this. If he isn't, then Capcom hates America. The ball's in your court, Capcom. Don't drop it.

Space Ghost got cancelled, and many of the Adult Swim faves have been ended. I actually think this sounds pretty cool, because I'm a fan of both Phoenix Wright and Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

The sad thing is that this is just another cash in game from Adault swim. They still run great anime on the weekends but man their work week crap has gone downhill big time. They used to run cool shows like Venture Brothers, and Harvey Bird man. They are and were great! Now they run crap like Aqua teen Hunger force, and Saul of the the Mole men. Then there is realy bad carp like Squidbillies and BoomDocks. All of those shows are just crap. And look like a kid drew them in ten seconds. What happened to the good stuff like Harvey Birdman and Space Ghost, or Ventrue Brothers!

I'm not saying this game will be bad because it's based on a tv show, I'm saying it'll be lame because High-Voltage Software is developing it.

Usually games based on a movie or a tv show... suck. They just plain suck. Not all of them, but the vast majority of them. I really hope this is going to be a great game, but based on past experiance, I sorta doubt it.

why are people saying this game could be really bad because of birdman... will adding an adult swim character really destroy the gameplay?

does anyone think before they speak anymore?

No actually I did as well- so you aren't alone-but this game can either be really bad, or quite decent if done right (and well even though I watched his original cartoons-he is quite possibly the lamest superhero ever lol)
