Medal of Honor: Airborne landing August 28
The next chapter of EA's venerable WWII shooter series finally has a firm release date on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Last January, Electronic Arts shocked no one by announcing it was developing another Medal of Honor game. Titled Medal of Honor: Airborne the new title was unveiled as coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in winter 2006.
That release window didn't last long. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May, the game was pushed back to the first quarter of 2007. However, when March 31 came and went, the game was still nowhere to be found.
This week, though, Medal of Honor: Airborne finally got a firm ship date. A trailer currently playing exclusively on GameStop.com proclaims the game will arrive on "August 28, 2007." All three product pages for the game on the site have also been changed to reflect the new date.
Developed at EA's Los Angeles studio, Airborne begins with one of the lesser-known campaigns of World War II. Starting with Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily, players will strap on the boots of a paratrooper in the legendary 82nd Airborne Division and jump out of a transport plane. As outlined in GameSpot's previous coverage, each mission will begin with a harrowing parachute jump. Other missions in the game included Operation Neptune, the airborne component of D-Day, and Operation Varsity, which saw 30,000 soldiers parachuting into Germany in the single largest military airdrop in history.
