Dynasty Warriors: Gundam coming to US

Namco Bandai and Koei confirm a late summer North American release and an Xbox 360 version for their PlayStation 3 crossover game.

Crossover games have tended to pit the characters of one popular property against those of another (Capcom vs. SNK, Alien Versus Predator), but that battle would be horribly lopsided in the case of Gundam and Dynasty Warriors. So, instead of a no-holds-barred battle for brand superiority, the merger of Namco Bandai's space-faring Gundam Mobile Suits and Koei's Dynasty Warriors historical action game set in ancient China takes the key components of each and combines them into one game.

The result, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, brings the futuristic artillery of Namco Bandai's sci-fi series and drops it into the swarming combat of Koei's action series. While the game was previously released for the PlayStation 3 in Japan, the companies today confirmed that it would be arriving for North American audiences on the PS3 as well as the Xbox 360 late this summer.

The game is developed by Koei's Omega Force studio, the team behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise, as well as its Samurai Warriors spin-off. As in the studio's previous titles, players will be able to become key characters on both sides of the storyline and experience battles and plotlines from their own unique perspectives. The game will also include unlockable Mobile Suits from different Gundam timelines and multiple game modes.

    hey i though DW:Gundamn was a decent game!! i really enjoy playing this game with all of the character from the gundam universe! it gets repetitive i know but somehow i really enjoy it...awkward

    They Really Should Have made it back in the Original Games Timeline. Gundam And Dynasty Warriors Do not mix.

    this game seems like it will be half decent. Iv played all the dynasty warriors games and liek them. Iv played a few gundam games they sucked nuts luckly it was only a rental. I think it will be good by the looks of the video.

    Ugh... I've already played the Dynasty Warriors games to death. It's a shame they had to borrow an already existing gameplay style to make a good Gundam game. Meh... Sounds good enough for a rental, but I may as well play Armored Core 4.

    I love how people hate on this game.. Go look it up before you hate. Alot of people like gundam and the mass war thing is always awesome. That and hack and slash is what always sold dynasty games. If they actually resolve their flaws and add a multi. Then we're in the money. People talked the same about Tenchu Z and it didnt come out half bad. Needs work and this one probably will but people. Learn what youre talking about and get some background information behind making bad accusations. Thank you.

    There is a clip online where you can play as Wing Zero, God Gundam and Master Gundam. So as long as I can play some G Gundam and Gundam Wing in this game, I'm good. Crossfire sucked so much, I was skeptical about this game at first, but now I can't wait.

    hmm Unlocking suits from other timelines, they better put wing and seed units in there...cause most of the US games are sucky especially the seed ones so far...-__-

    Just wow, wow... This is really really bizzare... Koei needs to just stop making DW games.. Do they not realize how boring this series is now? Changing the character models and the story but keeping the old, boring, repetitive gameplay isn't it going to making it a good game..

    they played gundam: musou, the japanese version on one of the live shows before- doesn't look impressive at all... just have a look at any vid of it on youtube, the pace of the fights are terrible compared with DW. Also, walking or hovering around space as though there's an invisible floor is about as cool as poo.

    For those who haven't heard of this beforehand, I hear that it's actually not that bad a game.
    This one game alone prompted many PS3 console sales in Japan, and is the only PS3 game to have sold over 100000 copies on the first day.

    Go look for screenshots by googling Gundam Musou or something.

    Maybe forming two terrible franchises together could actually produce a decent game. We'll have to see if this crap+crap formula works. It's doubtful since the gameplay is going to be exactly like dynasty warriors but maybe they can pull it off.

    For those wondering about the walking speed of gundams, well, most aren't that fast. All of them can boost, and as you level up your gundam, you can boost for longer periods. There are also certain gundams that are literally built for speed. These include Wing Zero, Epyon, and Zeta Gundam. They are able to transform into more mobile forms and are able to cover a lot of ground very quickly.

    People continue to buy both franchise's games, even when both seem totally played out by anyone but the most dedicated fan. Combine the two, and you have a chance at the "mediocrest game ever!" (say with Comic Book Guy's voice for laughs).
    Yeah, there are plenty of people who love these games, no matter what reviewers say about them, so to them I say "Knock yourself out." It would be nice to see a quality title released for both series for a change, but I kinda doubt it.
    Hey! Why not add in some Dragon Ball Z and Inuyasha for good measure! It could be giant robots with fox ears and tails fighting swarms of little bald dudes that talk about what punch they are planning on throwing (with inner dialogue) for twenty minutes at a time before doing so! Awesome!!!! We could call it:

    Dragonball Gundum Warriors: The Inuyahsa Battle Supreme Happy Family Game!!!

    I've seen the game in action, it looks great. I'll definitely be watching this one, though I'll wait for reviews before I purchase it.

    I loved Dynasty warriors for one reason. That is Guan Yu is the biggest bad ass in all of video games as well as ancient China. He will slash your face in if you are a treacherous bastard then move on to the next guy who is not just.

    Stripping the Dynasty warriors and Guan Yu out of the game is an extremely stupid move. I like Gundam as much as the next guy but don't call it a dynasty warriors game.

    Also if you liked Dynasty warriors at any time go read/watch "Romance of the three kingdoms" Its a good book and an even better TV show. It showed in China in the 80's-90's and is over 100 episodes long. The book is pretty good as well.

    Vitor_M, that is not the game I was talk'n about. Gundam Crossfire. Crossfire exceeded my expectations of how BAD a game could be. DWs were aweful too, in the same way Drakenguard was. Waves of pop up targets on empty plains... yawn. I did however like Char's Counterattack~PS1. This one, with charging up your musou gauge in order to unleash an even more substantial wave of destruction.... it'll be shot in the foot by bad the infamous bad camera. But glad to see it may be a faster paced game, not the super slow 'realistic' mech walking.

    hmm, I love the Gundam Universe's and even though they've been selling generic remakes lately, ill give it a rental and go from there, thats if my blockbuster will sell it. Might be good.

    The name sounds so stupid... But I guess that's the easiest way to attract fans from both series. Also, the Gundams better not be ridiculously slow like in all the other games.
