Zombies overrun US in D3's double shot of Onechanbara

Bikini Samurai Squad set for arrival on Xbox 360 early next year alongside Wii version of Bikini Zombie Slayers.

Few things sell as well in popular media as sex and violence. D3Publisher is hoping that the intersection of the two will prove especially potent, given that the company announced today that it will be importing the Japanese Xbox 360 game Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad.

Set for release early next year, the game will arrive in the US at the same time as D3's previously announced Wii installment in the series, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers. Despite having been revealed first, Bikini Zombie Slayers is being billed as the sequel to Samurai Squad.

Both games were developed by Tamsoft, and they follow the samurai sister act of Aya and Saki as they hack their way through a zombie outbreak. Neither game has a rating yet, but the Onechanbara series' history of blood-soaked, scantily clad protagonists (see picture) suggests that an M for Mature is waiting in the wings.

For more on Onechanbara, check out GameSpot's E3 preview of Bikini Zombie Slayers.

Call it a theory, but I think these kinds of games are being created to try and increase population. If the 360 game isn't selling for $30 or less, I probably won't care about buying this game. It doesn't look like a $60 title.

Wow, this game looks insane. This series is popular in Japan but I didn't expect they'd bring it to the US. Btw, did anyone see the new movie yet?

I've seen the game on Cinematech a couple times, it's certainly nothing TOO exciting, so don't get your hopes up for an absolutely amazing game. That said, it certainly has the potential to be enjoyable. It really is just a hack and slash with "DoA physics" though...

If they are planning on importing this game, it better be a 'decent' game.

I use the term 'decent', since the screenshot shows a typical hack and slash game. I have a gut feeling that it might turn out to be exactly the same as that terrible hack and slash game, Chaos Legion.

I might be wrong though. I also have a feeling that stevenrkorea mgiht be right. If it turns out to be similar to Dynasty Warriors, it would be pretty exciting.

Hey! That girl in the picture might be slaying zombies, but she certainly isn't wearing a bikini! But seriously, the picture leads me to believe that the game will look, play, and feel a lot like Dynasty Warriors with much more blood. I've always been a fan of the the Dynasty Warriors game play so it will probably be worth checking this game out.

After about 5 minutes of slashing through the same zombies will this start to become boring. D3 seem to think that we gamers are stupid enough to buy a game purely for scantily clad women and blood. Seriously D3, join us in the 21st century where we like our games a little more sophisticated and with some imagination.

Well... hate to say this, but unless these series of games have an interesting plot in there (even if it's not a particularly deep one) and an engaging atmosphere/storyline, I won't be interested in them. Also, I hope they don't have poor controls the way one person said they did in a comment. Poor controls and gameplay can kill any series of games, no matter how good the storyline/atmosphere can be. It's what absolutely destroyed games like Anachronox despite its killer story and potential to be an interesting interactive movie-like experience for instance, and other no-name games that could've been great if the gameplay and controls didn't suck so much.

Well, I'll finally get to give this game a rent (or a buy if it's better than expected). I admit that I found the videos of this game intriguing a while back (and not because of the intro) so I'm glad I can give it a whirl.

Besides, killing zombies never gets old.
