Aussie game charts: August 11-August 17

Wii Fit continues to stand at the top rung of the Australian game charts.

Wii Fit has spent its second consecutive week at the top of the overall game charts down under, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games takes out the silver-medal position for the week of August 11 to August 17. The popular Wii Play bundle, which comes with a bonus Wii Remote, came in at third spot, and Mario Kart Wii retained its fourth place from the previous week. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for the Nintendo Wii, one of the last games developed by Traveller's Tales before it was bought out, has returned to the charts smack-bang in the middle at number five. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Nintendo DS both dropped down one, with SSBB taking out the sixth spot, and Mario and Sonic below at number seven. Seasoned chart veteran Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain finished off the week at number eight. Sega's Olympic tie-in game, Beijing 2008 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games, has taken out the last two spots in the charts, with the PlayStation 3 version in ninth and the Xbox 360 version in 10th place.

Despite not being a massive sport in Australia, Madden NFL 09 has managed to find its way into our charts, appearing in the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP platform-specific charts.

    Dot understand u people r surprised or disappointed to see wii and DS games on top more own wiis and DS. Even people who have Xbox and ps3.

    6 wii titles along with 2 more DS titles in the top 10. It further proves that Wii doesn't need nearly as much 3rd party support as the XBOX 360 and PS3 do.

    PS2 saleschart is filled with SingStar and Guitar Hero. Thanks to the PS3 which has taken much of the hardcore fanbase away from its predecessor, most current PS2 gamers are casual gamers since the PS2 has a cheap pricepoint. At least thats the way I see it.

    only 2 non nintendo games in the top ten and what are they. olympics for the 360 and ps3 which is a big turd of a game. whats happening in our world???

    Warcraft and The Sims dominating the PC charts *yawn* while Olympic games dominating PS3 and Xbox 360 charts...

    What a boring sales statistic. Does this take into account digital purchases/downloads? I remember the GS article about how the PC industry is not taking into account ~40% of sales due to digital purchases...

    We need some new titles for the decent consoles. I don't have ANY interest in the Wii but am hanging out for Fable 2 and Force Unleashed. Until then, I'll keep playing CoD4 thanks.
