Rock Band falls under Blood Sugar Sex Magik spell

In its first 40 weeks on shelves, the original Rock Band saw a grand total of three downloadable albums released for it. Rock Band 2 will meet that mark in its first three weeks at retail.

Since its Xbox 360 release on September 14, Rock Band 2 has added full album downloads for Megadeth's Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? and Rush's Moving Pictures. Today, Rock Band developer Harmonix announced on the game's official forums that next week's downloadable-content update will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers' classic album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, featuring such hits as "Under the Bridge," "Suck My Kiss," and "Breaking the Girl."

One of the album's biggest hits, "Give it Away," was included on the Rock Band 2 disc. The remaining 16 songs (the most tracks of any Rock Band downloadable album to date) will be available on Tuesday for the Xbox 360 and Thursday for the PlayStation 3. Songs can be purchased individually for $1.99 (160 Microsoft points), or all together for $19.99 (1,600 Microsoft points).

All downloadable tracks are compatible with both Rock Band and Rock Band 2. The complete tracklist of the album (minus "Give it Away") follows:

    id like to see more packs with a few bands in Roadrunner pack 2 plz,need some soulfly trivium, sanctity and cavalera conspiracy divine heresy ok just some more thrash bands, i agree with horbidest MEGADETH are amazing

    I'm glad that out of the announced albums this one came first...I still have this on cassette...that's old school technology for you young'uns And Sir Psycho Sexy will probably sound like its been cut to ribbons LOL

    I think I might have just be buying my first Rock Band album, 3 or 4 songs I really like by them and I enjoy the band over all...depends on how much money I'll have on my wallet =D

    more classic rock? there is way too much classic rock already. how about some more modern rock, or at least radio singles that were actually popular at some point. i wouldn't even mind some pop stuff if i've heard of it. GHWT is getting Michael Jackson--I want MJ!

    I'm seeing buyers but unfortunately I'm not one of em, I'm needing better artists and albums be available, perhaps some Styx wouldn't kill anybody, or even some Kansas, basically more classic rock, not all of todays youth listen to alternative rock and punk music; moar classic rock please

    I'm happy with this, don't think i'm gonna get the full album, but on my hitlist are power of equality, righteous and the wicked, blood sugar sex magik, under the bridge and sir psycho sexy. i will probably download more in a couple of months. wonder what next week is gonna give us?? more offspring, ramones, kiss, ac/dc, motley crue maybe?? guess we'll have to wait and see!!

    gonna need a bigger 360 hard drive with al these quality songs!!!

    Death Metal? They've got plenty of stuff that should be close enough to satisfy you, what with Devildriver, Machine Head, Evile, and At the Gates. Although I do wish they could throw an Amon Amarth album in there at some point.

    Why is it always fans of death metal that seem to moan so much about harmonix song choices,listen to some other music for christ sakes.Everyone else is happy or shrugs but not the death metal fan,oh no.That genre of music seems tohave the most closed minded fans.

    I hope they create a Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitar Hero...that would make my day. I like Aerosmith and Metallic, but man a RHCP GH would be sweet.

    The issue with the Wii is minimal internal memory. If you download a song it has to go somewhere and the Wii just doesn't have the space to hold it. That's a hard boundary that us Wii owners are going to have to understand. In the meantime the PS3's library gets shinier and shinier and 360 pricing gets more and more desperate (cheaper than a Wii for introductory model) so there're other excellent options out there.

    Since harmonix hates us Wii owners more likely than that we're not getting any DLC. If I were you I'd just get GH:WT because Activision is smart enough to actually develop correctly for the Wii.
