After losing $431.1 million during its last fiscal year, THQ has seen its fortunes reverse with last month's smash hit UFC Undisputed. Now the company is aiming for smaller-scale success with side-view shooter Rocket Riot, which will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow. Sporting an 8-bit graphic style, the game arms players with a bazooka as they blast through enemies through 80 single-payer missions. Players can also fight four others in multiplayer mode, or up to eight on Xbox Live. Those who play the game can customize their soldier's armor and find power-ups including guided-rockets and dizzy missiles. The game will cost 800 Microsoft points ($10) when released tomorrow.
The level-headed dog and the "hyperkinetic rabbit-thingy" are also arriving on the Xbox 360 tomorrow when the first season of their vigilante rabble-rousing will become available, renamed Sam & Max Save the World. The Telltale-developed game adds new features, such as achievements, high-definition and widescreen graphic support, and updates to the game controls. The six-episode package will cost 1,600 Microsoft points ($20).
The interactive card-game Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers will also be released on XBLA tomorrow, featuring new single-player and co-op campaigns. The game, developed by Stainless Games, (Happy Tree Friends)--not the defunct Stainless Steel Studios (Empire Earth)--features new unlockable content, including additional cards, avatars, and skins. It costs 800 Microsoft points ($10).
