The aquatic Art Deco dystopia of BioShock and the expansive medieval-themed fantasy world of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will amalgamate into one comprehensive game hitting store shelves early next month. The publisher 2K Games announced today that the bundle pack would be available at major US retailers on July 7 for a suggested retail price of $39.99 on the Xbox 360 and $29.99 for the PC.

Steam also announced yesterday that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition is now available for download. The title is bundled with two previous expansions, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, and costs $16.79. Along with the Elder Scrolls IV update, Steam released Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Game of the Year Edition for $11.19, featuring the Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions. Players may purchase a bundle of the two games for $25.19. The listed prices are part of a limited-time 20 percent weeklong discount that began yesterday for the Bethesda products.

All three games are commercially and critically acclaimed, with BioShock and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion both shipping more than 1.5 million copies less than three weeks after release. GameSpot awarded BioShock and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion its Editors' Choice award, and Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has a composite Metacritic score of 89 for the PC and 87 for the Xbox. Metacritic is a sister site of GameSpot.

Video reviews for both BioShock and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion are listed below.

    Sweet deal but
is this $40 in Canada as well or just in the US?, If its coming to Canada will it be higher due to the difference between US and Canadian GDP?
If its the same I'm definitely getting it.

    @TheBionicRock

Steam's actually pretty mod friendly. I know all the mods for Fallout 3 worked fine on my Steam copy.

the more awesome deal on steam the better, maybe one day eb games will stop charging stupid prices. oblivion goty edition on sales is still more than steam without the dlc. I buy pretty much every game on steam now as it is so much better than the neglected eb games pc retail. if games on demand on x360 takes off and eb games does the same as it has with pc games in a few year, they could be in trouble.

I read that there was going to be a deluxe GoTY edition on steam with all DLC. be cool if that would come to consoles. I refuse to pay for *shivers* horse armor.

Game of the Year editions of Morrowind and Oblivion for $25? That's insane. An insanely good deal that is.

Oh, I thought they were offering both ES games at a great price for a physical copy... I might have to buy another copy of each just because it is cheaper than the DLC price... but alas, it's just a steam 'copy'.

This is one of the few deals I would actually go for if I didn't already own both of these games, although I completely agree with Wula that no one should be expected to pay store prices for a digital download copy of a game with no disc, no manual, no packaging and none of the overhead included in the store price. If I have to pay $49.99 for a game, I'm at least getting a disc and a box with some fancy cover art. And a manual to use as a coaster for my coffee cup.

The real question is how well the steam version of Oblivion will get along with the mods that make the PC version so superior to begin with.

    Posted Jun 17, 2009 3:06 pm PT

Even though I think digital downloads are a complete ripoff since your paying the same price but you get nothing else that you would when buying it IRL (no manual, box art, etc.). But for once I gotta say this is a pretty good friggin deal if you prefer buying legit games for cheap over the net. To bad I already got everything they put on sale :/

i was gonna buy bioshock this summer but now seeing it bundled up wit a major hit game like oblivion im sold

    Posted Jun 17, 2009 2:30 pm PT

omg Morrowind sucked! I don't understand how people enjoyed that game more than Oblivion. The combat system was a disaster, which ruined the gameplay for me. I understand you're not supposed to be strong at the beginning, but at least let me feel like im actually hitting the damn thing!

Other than the graphics factor and more realistic enemies I enjoyed Morrowind more than Oblivion.

Depending on how much Bioshock will be for Games on Demand (I'm expecting $20), I'll probably skip this. Seems like a good deal but I just couldn't get into Oblivion.
