In 2001, Garou: Mark of the Wolves hit the US market with its release on the Sega Dreamcast. After eight long years, the game will land on American shores again. Tomorrow, this last installment of the Fatal Fury series will return to US consoles as it headlines the week's Xbox Live Arcade releases alongside Atlus' Droplitz.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves follows up 10 years after the death of the series' crime lord, the formidable martial artist Geese Howard. However, his fighting talent has been passed down to his son, Rock. The new hero joins up with 12 brand-new companions, along with one fighter from the previous games, Terry Bogard. The game will be available on Xbox Live Arcade for $10 (800 Microsoft points).

In Droplitz, players rotate dials that control how water flows through tubes of different shapes. The goal is to get the water droplets to fall into buckets at the bottom of the tubes. The game becomes increasingly hectic as more droplets are introduced. For more on this game, check out GameSpot's hands-on preview. Droplitz, like Garou: Mark of the Wolves, costs $10 (800 Microsoft points). It is also set to be released on the PlayStation Network, PC, and iPhone later this year.

    Droplitz is addicting...too freaking addicting. I took a chance on it being that it's an Atlus game, and I love most things Atlus puts out, so last night i bought it on psn...I was skeptical at first playing it, 3 hours latter...yeah..the game is simple in idea but fun as hell.

    @athenian29:

    'Tis cool.

    @Henninger:

    You should know this isn't the Dreamcast version...it's the Arcade MVS edition with Neo Geo cart music. Also some voice samples are different from the DC for example, Terry Bogard: When Terry Bogard does his Crack Shot he doesn't shout out the name of the special move like he does in the DC edition, instead he'll say "Kickback!". Another difference is when he throws his Power Wave he actually doesn't say "Power Wave!" like he does on the DC version, instead he'll say "Rock You!". I believe that particular voice sample was edited because it sounded like Terry Bogard said "**** you!" every time he shot a Power Wave.

    Minor changes were made to Dreamcast version so I would call that the edited version. 360 edition is the original Neo Geo ROM with all the voice samples intact. Dreamcast version is still a great port though. There are lesser frame rate issues and it's an excellent collector's item. Plus it's a historic game for the DC since it was one of the last U.S. games to ever be released for the system. It came out near the end of the Dreamcast's life-span.

    If these differences interests you at all then I highly recommend purchasing it. It can't hurt and with netplay the game will always have replay value.

    @TheArcade

    Sorry, I just haven't heard of Garou before and thought it was an uber-niche title. My mistake.

    @squidracer

    It's the SNK equivalent of SF3: Third Strike. You're right, it's not a $10 game, it's worth much more than that. Throw in online on top of it's quality and rarity, and that's an absolute steal. Why does Sony keep missing out on awesome stuff like this?

    @athenian29:

    Alot of people should be interested in Garou, SNK has a growing fanbase in the Xbox community. Heck up until last year all SNK fighters that are available for Xbox & Xbox 360 came exclusively with online for the US. Finally KOF Orochi Collection (Wii) and KOF XII (PS3) will feature netplay and these games are on systems besides the 2 Xboxes. Several years late to make other hardware owners wait but better late than never, my point is when it comes to online SNK fighters in North America Microsoft are the veterans. They've already established a decent sized SNK community that keeps growing and will continue growing so long as SNK keeps up support for the Xbox 360. It's a great thing for both companies. I'm sure Garou will sell.

    The other game I'm not certain of but it seems interesting. Really I'm waiting for MS to get off their rear end and pass KoF '98 Ultimate Match for certification. I'm quite anxious to play that game online!

    @BelmontMaster:

    It's too bad but there hasn't been an announcement for a PSN version. If I were you I'd either forget about this game or suck it up and buy a Dreamcast, 360 + Live, or a JPN PS2 so you can play this wonderful fighting game gem.

    To squidracer, I've played the game "illegaly" and being a fan of SNK fighting games,I know that the game is well worth 10$ ^^, and hell, i'm even gonna get to sign xbox gold in order to buy that thing...and I don't have a dreamcast so...hurray for me!

    Thats does not look like a $10 game.... Microsoft is screwing people with the cost of games there... Where are the $5 games? Trash Panic was only $5 and it looks to be more "current gen" than this game.... Heck "Bionic Commando ReArmed" was only $10..... Make the games cheaper and we will buy more of them!!
