Battlestations: Pacific won the battle against critics when it debuted on the Xbox 360 and PC in May. And while it has yet to be seen whether the second installment in Eidos' WWII strategy franchise will fare equally as well against US consumers' pocketbooks, the publisher today announced a volley of add-on packs slated for deployment in July.

The first downloadable add-on, titled the Mustang Pack, is now available on Microsoft's platforms for 160 points ($2). The DLC includes six new units, including the P-51 Mustang bomber escort and the US Navy's Alaska Class warship for the Allies and the Super Yamato Class battleship for the Imperial Japanese Navy. The pack also includes 18 new pieces of nose art, which can be used both in the single- and multiplayer modes.

On July 23, Eidos will deploy the Carrier Battles Map Pack for 800 Microsoft points ($10). The pack includes four new maps that can be played in all five of Battlestations: Pacific's multiplayer modes. The maps play out on four distinctive battlegrounds in the Pacific theater: Midway, the Philippine Islands, Leyte Gulf, and the Aleutian Islands.

    Sorry to say that this game in my opinion is a piece of crap. Not intuitive , stupid key commands. No throttle for airplanes etc etc. Don't spend you rmoney on this game.

    and i also agree with snake: it is stypid to have two games about pacific-it is boooring. i think that it would be more interesting to create the game about europe, and most of all, i'd like to be at the helm of Bizmarck....

    @ Starcraft: I thought the Musashi, though a sister ship to Yamato, was a heavy cruiser. The Yamato is a battleship though. And learn proper etiquette and manners before you post Ok? Just because it's the internet, it doesn't mean you can act like a dickwad.

    @Starcraft012694
    As Fulgrim said, Yamato was a BATTLESHIP, not a cruiser. Not only Japan's largest but the largest battleship class of any nationality ever- along with it's sister ship Musashi (or something spelt a lot like that) that got attacked during Leyte Gulf, I think. Also the 'last hope' was Operation Ten-Go, the 'thier islands' was just Okinawa, and while what I said was meant as a joke, clearly some people need it spelled out in black and white- not that I'd expect to be out 'basic history-ied' by someone who describes the Yamato's armament loadout as 'a s**tload of guns'

    Yamato was a battleship, the strongest ever made in history, not a cruiser. There is a huge difference.

    @brok
    Ur a retard do you even know what the Yamato is?
    It was Japan's strongest cruiser, that they sent as a last hope to stop the allies from taking thier islands, then i got completely destroyed by America's airforce. Thing was a monster tho had a s**tload of guns on deck. So please learn basic history before you talk ok ?

    I played the label off of BS:Midway, still haven't gotten a chance to play this yet though. This might entice me to give it a try again.

    I was so happy when I finished that game. They either need to focus on the action part or the strategy. Be helpful if they had a option to speed up the time, takes forever for the ships to get anywhere.

    I agree starz, these guys are getting way ahead of themselves. There are numerous issues with the multiplayer game that a simple patch could fix. Right now this game is drowning in its own potential. They are trying to capitalize in a basically broken product without doing the work to fix it.

    How bout actually releasing A BLOODY PATCH to fix all the freezing and fps pausing issues before releasing stupid DLC that no one will be able to play anyway?!?!?!
    cmon people! The game should only be played once doing so becomes POSSIBLE. And the same applies to buying DLC!!! I've had an issue for two months where my game would just freeze up for ten seconds before going back to normal for 0.5 and the idiots at eidos tell me from my dxdiag that the problem is with my SOUND DRIVER. Sound does NOT !@#$ up FPS rates.

    Absolutely loved Midway. I have Pacific but ACL surgery has kind of sidelined me and I haven't been able to fire it up yet. Very much looking forward to it.

    That all being said, I sure as hell hope they get the DLC out much quicker for the PC than they did with Midway's DLC. The 360 got it way sooner than the PC. Actually, speaking of all that, why isnt this out for PS3 too?

    This is the kind of game that deserves to sell millions of copies. It is a fresh, innovative experience that somehow successfully combined multiple genres to create an outstanding game.
