What we heard: Ever since it was first rumored a year ago, BioShock 2 has garnered no small amount of attention. That interest was piqued further in March when the game was officially announced as coming out between August 1 and October 31, 2009. Finally, during a June conference call, Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick revealed that there would be a third BioShock, which would likely be released alongside director Gore Verbinkski's big-screen adaption of the game.

Since then, though, BioShock 2 has dropped off the public's radar...until today. That's when what appears to be the first teaser trailer for the game surfaced on YouTube, apparently after being unlocked as an Easter egg in the PS3 edition of the game.

After flashing a title card saying "Atlantic Coast"--referring to the ocean underneath, where the first game's events were set--the trailer pulls slowly back to reveal a preteen girl holding a doll. The doll is reminiscent of the hulking Big Daddies of the first game, indicating that the youth in question is an older version of BioShock's tormented Little Sisters. As she recedes into the distance, silhouettes of what appear to be art deco skyscrapers rise from the sand before the trailer cuts to a barnacle-encrusted logo for "BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams."

The official story: As of press time, 2K Games reps had not commented on the trailer or whether or not the PS3 version of BioShock would ship alongside the 360 and PC versions.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus. Although there has been some very convincing Web fakery, this trailer is almost certainly genuine. The age of the girl also indicates that BioShock 2 will be a true sequel set after the original game, not a prequel as some rumors have pegged it.

it's a prequel to the first game. its set a few years before the events in bioshock 1. you play as the very first big daddy and your main enemy is the big sister. can't wait for this game to come out! check out the walkthrough trailer on youtube for more info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nNcNktCHY0

I think its pretty stupid to make another after a great ending. (if you were good) Probably will still have great gameplay but this is one they should have just left alone.

This was my thought... Rapture is huge. Just looking out the windows in the game. You see huge buildings off in the distance everywhere you go. We couldn't have possibly explored its entirety in the first game. Someone else is down there. Maybe someone with a secret. Someone waiting to see who came out on top; Atlas, or Ryan. Waiting to come out and wreak even more hell on Rapture.

Maybe this will be a prequel? The day Rapture fell in chaos? If it's a sequel, the little sister's should have aged a bit, so what's going to take their place? There are so many possiblities, the long wait for this game will be well worth it!

The first Bioshock was incredible including the story but im worried they will ruin the plot with a sequel (so glad it's not a prequel). I am still certainly buying it but it probably won't have a story as good as number 1, but 2k and epic will add more splicers and stuff to make it fun and that will make majority of people like it more. Definitely buying it on Xbox360 (which is way better than PS3, like really the only thing PS3 that the 360 doesn't have that's actually good is little big planet and MGS4.

I wonder what you will play in this Bioshock? The character from the first game? what if you play as the brother of the character from the first game (Another secret son of Andrew Ryan?) Or perhaps you play as a little sister, young or grown up? Maybe as a Big Daddy?

Maybe this one will be in the future (in the present) and there will be modern weapons, older sisters, and Big Mommys? Sounds cool to me, but I do hope you will get a chance to visit Rapture again...

My question still is ,after the ending of the first Bioshock, what could they possibly make this game about? This trailer tells me nothing, and the older little sister does not neccesairly mean the game takes place after the first one.

I replayed it threee times SCOTTRHOM. different endings. But think about it, games that have a lot of replay value, usually had crappy stories. Games that have an engrossing story (Metal Gear Solid 1,2,3,4 example) dont really have much replay value. WHich is fine with me. id rather play a game that is so spectaculer and then never play it again, than have a game just to replay and collect stupid items. (GTA3 & 4)

good to know, i loved the first one! The one thing i loved is this:

Im not a huge fan of puzzle games, but the puzzle on this game are less tedious than in games such as these "puzzle" games. Thats just one of the reasons i loved this game, The other reason is that it was the first game i played on my 40' inch HDTV= AMAZING GRAPHICS!!!

@ Education. I dont think either 360 or PS3 are much different at the moment. I for one have a PS3 & PC. I feel that the 360 will become a little inferior in about 3 yrs. I think the PS3 (with its more powerful everything almost), will last longer and produce better games in the long run. BUT that said, for now, i will agree that PS3 has no lived up to its hype at all. OH and i only buy FPS on PC... LoL! So thank god Bioshock 2 is coming to pc at the same time as 360 :-) :-) YAYAYAY!! (PC RULES ALL PLATFORMS) COugh....

Why is this in rumor control? Just look at the video, it is in Bio-Shock Extras menu. And all fake trailers so far used imagery in original game or one of it's trailers.

Interesting bit about trailer, how the LITTLE Sister is so big and BIG Daddy so small. Interesting imagery there, maybe suggesting tone/theme of the game?
