Angry Birds hatches on Facebook
Rovio's strategy megahit slingshots onto social networking giant with new power-ups, social features.
Facebook is a hot spot for casual games, but until today, it lacked arguably the hottest on the market. Today, Rovio's ultrapopular strategy game Angry Birds landed on the social networking giant.
Angry Birds on Facebook offers gamers new power-ups and additional social features. The new power-ups are Sling Scope, King Sling, Super Seeds, and Birdquake.
As for the game's new social features, those who play Angry Birds on Facebook can brag about their high scores with news feed posts, and they can give friends "mystery gifts," which contain power-ups.
Angry Birds is available on a number of platforms, including the 3DS, PSP, PlayStation 3, iOS and Android mobile devices, Google Chrome, Google Plus, and Amazon's Kindle Fire. The game has been downloaded over 500 million times, including 6.5 million instances on Christmas Day alone.
U Damn right , no one cares about that (Game) real biggest time wasters
They finally put the two biggest time wasters together. Productivity is sure to drop even more. Lol Crap I almost had it that time..... Wait I mean....
Nobody cares.

@Bane_09 Simplest actual game I could think of that would appeal to non-gamers and could be played in a few minutes. Also available in portable form for stacking on the go. Basically mentioning a better game that does Angry Bird's "job" far better. You know what? I'll give the old Game and Watch series of games an honorable mention while I'm at it.
@Darkflare_EX Hmm well I don't disagree but I have no idea why you brought Tetris up?
Anyone who has "gamed" on FB knows what I mean when I say that comparing FB gaming to real gaming is like saying McD's is a gourmet meal. And don't let that "social gaming" hook you, FB games are there for one purpose and one purpose alone - to make money. As to the Birds, it was stupid and boring, but that's life....
The only game in the whole wide world that anyone know's how to play.
@pie4all88 Angry Birds is a game?
"Rovio's strategy megahit" Strategy? Angy Birds is a game of luck.
If this game would have been released 10 years ago it would have been a big failure but now it get 500M download i though gaming was moving forward not going back in the past.
Angry Birds is as hot as a sauna. I wonder if they're Finnished with getting the game to new platforms now or if there is more unknown territory for them to conquer.
I just never got into this game. Guess I shouldn't knock it too much for its "depth" or whatever, since I play the crap out of Andoku, so much it causes temporary burn-in on my phone.
When is the 3DS version coming out? They announced it a long while ago and no mention of it has ever surfaced since.
I rather enjoyed Angry Birds when it became a free game on Android, so much so that I bought it as a Mini for my PSP and PS3. It's nothing too deep and nothing that I wouldn't have paid more than 3 or 4 euros for, but it is a mildly amusing timewaster. At this point, however, I really do feel that Rovio is milking its cow a little too much.
I knew this was going to happen ..... Most of the popular mini games have to become a facebook application later :D
Since when angry birds is a "strategy" game?? I always thought it was an arcade type of game (albeit a slow one..)
@Bane_09 Tetris is pretty fun to play when you got time to kill. Pretty casual, simple to play and a lot more of a game than Angry Birds will ever be.
I remember when Snake was the only thing we could get on our phones. For the life of me, I don't know why we needed anything else.
Ok to all you guys saying it's overrated....Well it is at least compared to real games. But it's still pretty damn fun to play when you have some time to kill. So quit hating on Angry Birds, it's fun but it is in no way going to replace the average game
I agree. This game is everywhere :S
Cool. Now I can not play Angry Birds on Facebook, too.
OVERRATED... This is what is killing the gaming communtity, simple profitable games...
Since when the hell was this available on the 3DS?...
@ztg360 I'm glad I am not the only one who feels they ripped off Armor's game
Ahh now I feel as though I'm not the only one that thinks angry birds is entirely too overrated. Evidently my true gamer shows through when talking about such casual games as this one. (all my classmates love it and I realize they copies crush the castle and thus am annoyed by it.)
Plumb this game some more, Rovio! :P
¡Hola Bananas! :)
I can see it now. You need 100 neighbors to play the next level. You need to spam your friends news feeds for gifts that are required to play the game. I avoid most Facebook games because of this crap.
Angry Birds is pretty fun but it's overrated to hell.
yeee =D finally
Oh thank you. I needed more ammo to prove Angry Birds was a subpar casual game. If you can even call it a game.
Must be why FB is so damn slow today...
500 million downloads of a free game, given how many people own smartphone is anyone surprised? If it did cost anything it wouldn't sell anywhere near those figures, it's an alright pass time but as a game it's weak.
By "social features", do they mean the usual features almost every facebook game shares? (energy to limit gametime, friend requirements for items and/or skills, and microtransaction options for every friggin thing in the game)
Angry Birds is everywhere.
This game might be one of the most overrated games of all time.. This and MW3
nobody cares about angry birds.
Strategy my ass...
