Anonymous threatens Zynga

If the games industry was at the point at which layoffs from Zynga will "end the U.S. game market as we know it", the market would have already been dead.

I hate Zynga as much as the next guy, but come on. Couldn't they just leave a bag of flaming dog crap at their door or something?

To quote George Carlin "Gimme that it's mine!"  Clearly this group never left the sandpit.

Why is Gamespot giving this group face-time? Stop posting this crap as news.

Over sensationalization. What exactly leads them to make a claim about this magnitude? Zynga is a large software entertainment company, but its layoffs aren't going to collapse an entire gaming industry. Zynga isn't "too big to fail" in the gaming industry like Wells Fargo or Goldman Sachs is to global finance.

Whether if they truly believed in their cause against mistreatment of employees and developers or not, using cyber threats aren't exactly the ideal solution nor a good practice.

I've threatened Zynga a few times myself... Though it was just empty threats caused by frustration from their unethical business practices. I would not actually threaten them or expose innocent people's information to try and make a point or force hands. The industry is probably better off without Zynga; even if that means no more words with friends.

Blackmail? This feels like a risky escalation from simply hacking to make a point. I don't think the motivation will make the threat any more palatable to law enforcement, and there is a risk that escalations like this will lead to greater anti-freedom legislations in the name of cyber security.

Bunch of internet script kiddies and joiners. "Anonymous" is dumb regardless of which company they're targeting.

This isn't going to make a difference! The founder of Zynga has left with his millions (if not millions, Billions!) and doesn't care what happens to that company and it's demise!

this business aspect of games are run by the people who don't play them, therefore making them incompetent in understanding what it is to truly play a great game, which is probably the reason why most new games suck compared to their old school rivals, because nowadays it's all about the profit and not about the quality of games, most companies this year have fired or laid off their best crew members as they're the 

'most expansive' however there's a reason for their price but most people these days fail to acknowledge that. 

Anon has me hanging on their every word! What would I ever do without Zynga to supply me with an endless supply of privacy infringing games that I haven't played in years? Clearly the end of the US Gaming world as we know it!

dear lord of ALL the video game company's in the world WHY ON EARTH ZYNGA! why not activision, EA or even capcom these company's actually rip-off millions of people world-wide with DLC's that should be included in the game at the first place ( example capcom with street fighter 4, marvel vs capcom 3, asura's wrath and the list goes on and on ) but zynga is going to fire half of it's staff and anonymous are going to fuck them up? do us all a favour attack something else, like the U.S. goverment or something...

I honestly think that these hackers just go around trying to hack companies they don't like personally once they find a company with weak enough security they pretend like that company is the most evil thing to exist. Anon will become legit when they start hacking the CIA and the govt. until then they're just troublemakers. :\

Zynga probably have to fire people because all of their games are free, therefore to make a profit they have to rely on adverts in their games and in-game purchases.

As much as I despise Zynga with a bloody passion, I don't think a threat is going to change them. Zynga is going to end the gaming market you say? I doubt that. I would say EA or Activision would end up doing that.

As much as I dislike Zynga and their business plan, I want to go on record as saying I do not approve of cyber-terrorism of any kind. Anonymous (whoever is using the name now) does not and will never have my support. 

This should be fun...I guess.
