Assassin's Creed III Ubisoft's best UK launch ever

New stealth action game nearly doubles sales of Assassin's Creed II and tops publisher's previous best, AC: Revelations, by more than 117,000 copies.
Assassin's Creed III got off to a red-hot start last week, at least in the United Kingdom. Data for the week ended November 3 from Chart-Track reveals that Assassin's Creed III is Ubisoft's biggest-ever launch in the region, almost doubling the sales of Assassin's Creed II at launch in 2009.
The game bested previous Ubisoft record holder Assassin's Creed: Revelations by more than 117,000 units. Xbox 360 copies of Assassin's Creed III accounted for 59 percent of sales, with the other 41 percent attributed to the PlayStation 3. The game will launch worldwide later this year for the Wii U and PC.
Assassin's Creed III is breaking records not only for Ubisoft, but also for the industry at large. The new game is now the second-biggest launch of the year in the UK, only behind FIFA 13.

Considering there weren't many other hyped up titles, I'm not surprised it was the highest seller.
All this talk about Brits liking to kill their own kind, or comments about this game being "anti-British" are kinda funny, and ridiculous at the same time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Rev War fought between the British and British Colonists? So really it's their own civil war...
I also bought this game day one, and have been playing Okami HD ever since. ;-) I guess we can all look forward to Assassin's Creed 3.5 next year.
1 Like Congrats Ubisoft, you are by far my favourite developer. Assassins Creed is my favourite IP of the gen, it doesn't hurt you are Canadian like me! I bought this game day 1 and still in awe of how big it is and the amount of stuff to do. I think it'll be my GOTY.
@immortality20 I'm waiting until the PC version to decide (I've played about 10 hours in on the ps3 version, but I've decided to stop and wait for the PC release). But...I think GOTY might be right!
I tried but just could not get into Assassin's Creed. Skipped the second one because of lack of interest from the first one. But I have to say, part 3 really looks pretty good. Might have to give the Creed one more shot. And congrats to Ubisoft.
@CptRexKramer I'm the same way. I bought AC 1 (back when it first was released) all excited to play, then lost interest 30 minutes later (too repetitive I think) . Haven't touched it since...but my Wife has! She's played through AC 1 twice now.
I borrowed AC2 from a friend recently and played it a bit. He also lent me Brotherhood, but I haven't tried it out yet. AC3 looks really good, but I have way to many games to play right now.
@CptRexKramer I didn't like AC1, but AC2 is probably the best game of the gen for me, you should really try it. It fixes everything.
3 Like Ubisoft deserves every single penny they get. Assassin's Creed III is simply the BEST game this year and one of the best games ever. I think the only game that might be better is Halo 4 (we'll know that tomorrow).
4 Like I see why this game is awesome! Wasn't gonna buy it but decided to give it a try and wow, am I glad I did. This game is epic!
3 Like It deserves every sale it gets. If you wana make a sequel, atleast put in as much effort into it enough to justify it as a new purchase
1 Like I LIKED ASSASSINS CREED 3! LOVED IT! I'm glad I gave in and bought it. SO ADDICTIVE, and fun to play... its good I finished it before Halo 4 launches... because thats ALL I'M DOING THE REST OF THE YEAR!!!

tbh being british its not really a part of history we really touched on that much in school so its pretty interesting
@Justforvisit I find killing people of our own race in a video game not offensive so I don't see why other people do, unless its shown in a more racist and discriminating way.
4 Like Totally expected. But these charts are going to be off the charts once Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 come out.
@Harrydapro Because people would rather Just Dance than Just Stab/Shoot/Sneak/Use Magic or any of the other ways that you can accomplish missions in Dishonored. I know, it's sad, but at least Dishonored is doing well enough, I think, to make a sequel look profitable.
@shingui5 That, and we can remember that we're playing a game and not get all bent out of shape about it. Heck, the Germans have had to put up with it a lot more often.
