Sounds like a interesting concept but UBI please put AC on the back burner and put something else out too much of the same franchise is always a bad thing no matter how good the quality of the game is...
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag revealed

Supposed marketing material for next entry in the series suggests it will be a high seas adventure with pirates.
The next Assassin's Creed game may be a swashbuckling adventure with pirates. A tipster has sent Kotaku marketing material for a game called Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
The poster shows a series-familiar hooded assassin wielding a pistol in one hand and a sword in the other. This character is standing on a ship--with a black flag in the background--and is surrounded by a host of pirates.
If Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is indeed real and takes place--at least in part--on the high seas, it will not be a first for the series. Last year's Assassin's Creed III featured various naval missions where players battled enemy ships.
Earlier this month, Ubisoft confirmed it was developing a new Assassin's Creed game for release during its fiscal 2014 (April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014). According to CEO Yves Guillemot, this game will take place in a new setting and star an all-new hero.

Do we need an AC every year? AC III was a crap fest. I found it extremely dull. I know, don't buy it. I won't! :)

@Joutja I'm very excite. Could be the best AC game if they did pirates well. I was just talking with some friends at the pub about how awesome it could be to have a pirate based game. But we were thinking a GTA style ocean faring, steal rape and pilage sort of affair. But assassin-pirates are cool too.

Pirates are more open minded when it comes to things in my eyes. Samurai have the honor, respect, training. Samurai's are like Jedi knights, they respect and protect, they are stealthy, patient and tend to think before they act. Pirates tend to do the opposite i think. Don't get me wrong, Pirates are ok and it would be a change, but i just can't see a pirate assassin unless its an assassin fighting pirates. Samurai will be more of a challenge but again, it will just be swords again, but the style, the clothes, the theme. Samurai's are more ancient, although, the codes they have to follow can be slightly over the top lol

2 Like Naval battles were the best part of AC3. However after AC3 they need to stop and think about what there making cause it it wasn't that good. I agree that AC2 was proably the best overall, but the original setting in AC1 was my favorite. This yearly thing has been ruining the series since Brotherhood. If there making a pirate game i think they should make it a new franchise based on the AC3 boat engine. and they could do that in the off years for AC

Pirates game with enchanced naval battles from Assassin III - Ohhh yesss count me in. Pirates game mixed with Assassin franchise - not so sure though.

I think it is time to move on. AC3 was alright but the series has gotten stale. AC2 and Brotherhood were great but the mechanics are tired now. I get why studios don't want to go through the trouble of inventing an entirely new brand. It's challenging and there is already guaranteed money here but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be attempted. Don't kill a franchise for the sake of profits...
2 Like AC3 was rubbish. The boat was fun but any longer on it and it would have got boring... This idea is bad. Scrap the franchise and start on something new.

I think a high seas adventure would be a fantastic idea for the series, if for no other reason than being able to use it as a means to travel between a variety of locations that previous entries couldn't really manage.
I think It's going to be about Edward Kenway, Haytham's father... He was an Assassin and a Corsary
