Asura's Wrath dev working on JoJo's fighting game

Namco Bandai publishing CyberConnect2-developed JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle for PlayStation 3 based on long-running manga series.

The next body of work from Asura's Wrath developer CyberConnect2 will not be a sequel to that game, but rather a PlayStation 3-exclusive fighting game called JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle. The game is based on the long-running manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and was revealed as part of a press conference in Japan today attended by Andriasang.

Details are scarce on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle, but the game's first trailer (embedded below) offers a first glimpse at the project. The game appears to retain the source material's over-the-top action, with plenty of fists moving faster than the eye can follow, vehicle-based offense, and the series' "Stand" alter egos.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle is not the first fighting game based on the series. Capcom published a port of the 1998 arcade game for the original PlayStation and Dreamcast.

The most recent JoJo's Bizarre Adventure title was 2006's PlayStation 2 game JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood, which was based on the first installment in the manga series.

It was not mentioned if JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle would see release outside of Japan, and as of press time, Namco Bandai had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment. CyberConnect2 has a long history of manga licensed games, including several Naruto fighters and .hack role-playing games.

This was a nice art style 4 years ago, try mixing it up for different franchises Capcom. Not every game has to look exactly the same.

@manuelg89  I highly doubt they will change the art style anytime soon. I understand what your are saying but you gotta remember, this is based off of the original mangas. Which is exactly where this art style came from. It's a traditional style that has been used to create everything from Phantom Blood to the current one (JOJOLion I think they are calling it now). In other words, they are staying true to the manga.

Even if they don't bring this state-side I will import this and not think twice.

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!! It's about time we had another JOJO game. I have played almost all of them. The fighting game from PS1 (and the arcade version), the one on PS2 with Giornio Giovana (that manga took place in Italy) and the last one on the same system that began the entire series. So I am FREAKIN READY for this!!!!!! I hope Jotaro's daughter will be a playable character in this game. I can hardly wait.

in case anyone replies. I forgot to mention that hopefully this game will not be region locked if not brought state side. Despite this one flaw it's still good news.

Last time I played one of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure games was back on the PS1; it was a very good fighting game as well, so I will be looking forward to this one.

@FallenOneX ........because of ONLY the Capcom game?

No because JoJo is a long manga ON GOING (forget about Steel Ball Run?).

FallenOneX

@furiotheshopkeeWas never that into the series, but did enjoy some of the games.

furiotheshopkee
furiotheshopkee

@FallenOneXOk, then, how about to start reading the manga from "Phantom Blood" or watching the goddamn anime to enjoy the awesomeness of "JoJo's Bizarre adventure"???

I repeat: "Stardust Crusaders" which the Capcom arcade game is based on is NOT the beginning of "JoJo" as so much casual people think.

Dreamcast and PS1 version is the same game.

There are like 5 Jojo games in existance: 1 for SNES, the arcade game, 2 for the Play Station 2, and finally the game we're talking here!

furiotheshopkee
furiotheshopkee

 @FallenOneX What games?

Only the arcade or even the PS2 games (one by Capcom and one by Namco Bandai)?

Anyway why you don't start to reading?? Or watch the new anime adaptation??

Just know that this starts from all the beginning, there are too much casual people who still thinks JoJo is "Stardust Crusaders" (even if they don't know what does it mean).

So it will start with Phantom Blood.

Ah ok, maybe you don't know it: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a generational manga started in 1987 by Araki which character design was based for the first 2 parts on "Hokuto no Ken/Fist of The North Star", then it just get better and original.

So much fighting games are based on this masterpiece.

I just wish they would re-release Capcom's 1998 arcade classic on XBLA and PSN. That game was fantastic.

@Jestersmiles Don't worry it will have it. They just haven't done the voice acting yet. If you watch closely you'll see that no one speaks in the trailer.

As for the announcement I want to say this: OMFG!!! YEEEEEESSSS!

@gix47 Too bad for them, It's the best manga ever made.

But I can't stand people who "can't handle JoJo" even if they never reading, starting from Phantom Blood.

I'm not a big fan of CyberConnect2's fighting games.

It's a toss-up for me. I need to see some footage. Will it be something different, or will it be Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm with a different coat of paint?

I never saw the manga but I happened to play the japanese game on Ps1, it was good, and I liked it. Too bad I couldn't get through the game cause of the japanese text.
