Yes!! An Atlus game! WHoo! And sure, theyre just the publisher, but the publisher is the one who gets the say on where their money goes and how it comes out.
Catherine developer reveals a new co-op third-person shooter; God Mode to feature special abilities, upgradeable weapons, character and equipment customization.
Atlus, the company behind 2011's puzzle platforming adventure Catherine and the Persona series, has unveiled a new project titled God Mode.
The downloadable third-person shooter will be published by Atlas and developed by Old School Games.
Described as an "arcade-style four-player co-op shooter" on the game's official website, God Mode follows a descendant of an ancient Greek god whose bloodline has been banished from Mount Olympus. To avoid an afterlife of eternal damnation, players must survive The Maze of Hades against an army of undead.
The shooter will feature RPG elements including customizable characters, upgradeable weapons, and special abilities.
"God Mode combines non-linear gameplay, fast and frantic shooting, hordes of on-screen enemies, and stunning visuals," Atlus revealed on God Mode's website.
"The game hosts a single-player mode, as well as online and offline (via LAN) co-op play with 1-4 players. In addition to accessing more than 11 different weapons for battle, players are also equipped with a special ability fueled by Rage, which is gathered by amassing kills. Players can choose from several different powers ranging from offensive, to defensive, to support; all of which can be upgraded."
God Mode will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in early 2013.
I have to say, I know Atlus is just a publisher, but I'm still a slight dissapointed that I haven't seen an actual Persona game come from them in a while. I was really looking forward to seeing the series on the current consoles, but we can't all get what we want. I still have high hopes for this game, it sounds interesting, and I'm actually glad it's a downloadable game considering I probably wouldn't be willing to fork up full price for a game like this, but that might be just me. We'll see, high hopes for it ;).
People need to realise that Atlus is only the publisher here. I doubt that they had too much input into the development of this project since it's made by a non-Japanese company. This game will be unlike any of the JRPGs that we're used to seeing from Atlus!
@nate1222 Did you visit the website? There's a Steam logo at the bottom of the page alongside the Playstation and Xbox logos
A console generation without a Persona game. What a bummer, but I have high hopes for Persona 5 on next gen.
@BenderUnit22 But Persona 4 came out late in the PS2 years. Did they say that they won't make persona this gen?
@BenderUnit22 WHAT? Persona 5 isnt going to release for ps3??? Are u sure???
There's Persona 4 Golden for the Vita. But I get your point. I loved Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 for the PS2. I still play Summon Night 2 for GBA on my DS Lite.
I love arcade Fps like Doom, Quake and even Bulletstorm and Sigunlarity, this sub genre is cleary missing, with all military generic fps(Not All Military FPS are bad.) and God Mode could be a realostalgic experience.
Its NOT made by the catherine developers! Its made by saber interactive!
Their previous work consists of Inversion, Battle: los angeles and Timeshift to name a few.
This could be hit or miss, the trailer looked like it could be pretty chaotic fun but the concept above dont show a lot of promise :') Also, knowing saber interactive's mediocre track record I wonder if it'll be any good...
I'ts really misleading to say its from the devs of persona btw. Please don't misinform people to get more pageviews gamespot : ) and if they genuinely didn't know this..then..well...wtf get your facts straight
Atlus has earned my support for whatever they do. I'll assume this will be good until it is proven otherwise. Too many Atlus games have vastly surpassed my expectations for me to think otherwise.
While I really want the new entry of the persona franchise to be announced, It's kinda cool they introduce new IPs. Nowadays we are only getting sequels :P
@Melchior111 Eh. It's sort of our faults anyways. They churn out more Persona goodness, then we buy them, then they go, "Well, people seem to like so let's keep churning!" XD
I like the Persona series (Post P2) It's One-More/Press Turn and S.Link mechanics definitely brings a unique take in the JRPG genre.
@Melchior111 Persona 5 is in development, but they haven't said squat about what console its going to be on.
Christ this sounds like a textbook "ticking the check list" project. Action-by-numbers at its most derivative, unoriginal and blandest sounding.
Camera in the official trailer is chuggggging hardcore. They could be using the "feature" of slowdown-on-impact for dramatic effect.... but with so many constant hits it just looks junky.Quirky weapon concepts alone can't carry a game... esp. if there's only 12 =\
This is not the developer of Catherine. The game is being developed by another studio and not "Atlus Persona Team" which is the name of the developers of Catherine.
Also published by Atlus, Atlas is a completely different company.
Mmmhmmm. Yeah, Atlus we've been patient. Persona 3 Portable, Catherine, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Golden....
Now I wants my Persona 5, dig? Give me my precious!

@Tripwolf Yup, same here. Usually I'm all over anything Atlus gets involved in - even when they're not the best games they're still interesting - but the trailer switched me right off.
I have such a weakness for games like this. And it's co-op. They touched two soft-spots at the same time. Come to steam, sweet thing!
I tried Catherine, which is nice, but my favs from Atlus will always be MegaTen series, so, I guess I'll try this one.
I would cheer for that, although Atlus plays like Nintendo, regarding Mario, as an example. We never had a good Mario collection for GC or Wii, and probably we'll continue to have Mario ONLY for download on Wii U, instead of a physical CD loaded with past Mario games.
The same for Persona and MegaTen series. Atlus kept MegaTen in Japan until the 1st Persona and discovered we also dig their thing.
We played with subtitles masterpieces like SMT 3 Nocturne, P3 and P4 but never had a SINGLE official translation of SMT 1 and 2 (only in emulators It seems). But, for what is worth, we can all dream of a "better future"...
