Batman beats Spider-Man to top of UK chart
Lego Batman 2 beats newcomer The Amazing Spider-Man in comic-book contest for number one; strong Vita sales propel Metal Gear Solid HD Collection into top 10; Spec Ops hits at three.
Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes hung on to the top spot last week, fending off new release The Amazing Spider-Man into second place. Two further debuts made the top five last week: Spec Ops: The Line hit the chart in third, while Sega's London 2012 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games got a sporting chance at four. FIFA 12's 40th week in the chart sees it drop three places from last week to complete the top five.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier fell three places despite its PC release, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim climbed one place to seven thanks to the release of its Dawnguard expansion. Max Payne 3 drops four places to eight followed by chart regular Battlefield 3 at nine, giving Take-Two and EA two top 10 titles each. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection scraped into the top 10, with its Vita release last week inducing a 532 percent increase in the game's sales, making it one of the platform's biggest releases since launch.
Newly released last week PS3 exclusive The Ratchet & Clank Collection narrowly missed out on the top 10 at 11, Mass Effect 3 jumped 21 places to 15 thanks to the release of its Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's retailer promotion meant it reentered at 21.
This week sees the release of RPG offerings The Secret World and turn-based PS3 exclusive Rainbow Moon. Two rhythm games also reach European shores this weak: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise (released in the US as Rhythm Heaven Fever).
