Publisher commits to DICE shooter "well into the future," says Facebook ads accounted for $12 million in sales for 2011 release.
Electronic Arts is already gearing up promotional efforts for Battlefield 4, but the publisher is reassuring fans that there's still life left in the third game in the series. In a post on the Battlefield blog, the publisher has stressed its continued support for Battlefield 3, even after the launch of its successor.
"We are committed to providing an excellent Battlefield 3 experience well into the future, past the releases of Aftermath, End Game, and Battlefield 4," according to the post. "DICE is continuing its work on Battlefield 3 alongside Battlefield 4."
Earlier this month, EA confirmed that it was working on Battlefield 4 and that a beta for the game would take place in the fall of 2013. Gamers can secure a spot in the beta by preordering Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which is set to debut in October.
In other Battlefield 3 news, details about its advertising campaign have been released by Facebook. As reported by GamesIndustry, the social network revealed some facts about the first-person shooter's social network ad campaign. EA spent $2.75 million on Facebook ads for Battlefield 3, and told the Web giant that those spots ultimately resulted in $12.1 million of sales for the game.

I have been playing bf since its inception back with 1942 and have played every single game that has come out from additions to ps2 versions all the way untill now i also own every single medal of honor game too all i have to say is they are both great i see them differently more so with the older games than newer but lets be clear these are getting more and more similar on consoles but have kept their individuality on pc in my opinion
i checked theire website. the only thing after aftermath is endgame...thats it and it comes out sometime in 2013
YES!!!!!!! that means we will have battlefield 4, and still have battlefield 3 and expansions! it makes you wonder how long they will support it though! i can NOT WAIT!!!!!
I'm really really REALLY hoping that BF4 is a long way off. Been playing the BF games on PC for years now and I enjoy having those couple of years after the DLC dust has settled to keep playing, not feel like I need to buy a new version less than a year later. This was the Battlefield series, not MW;Annual Edition.
What they can do is run off and make more Bad Company games for single player console users. That should fill their greed quota without messing with my gaming enjoyment.
Call me a skeptic! However, I've stepped in BullS&*t before! And you know what, it stinks, it really does! And it makes a terrible mess of your shoes! That being said of course EA will still support BF3 after BF4 is released! After all, there going to need some where to go (BF3 Forums, uhh ummm!) for positive comments after BF4 is released in a complete mess!
Just got my Battlefield 3 premium yesterday. When I played today, I enjoyed every second of it. I love the maps layout, design, terrain, and graphics. It's so much more fun than the original Battlefield 3 multiplayer maps and the Back to Karkland maps.
However, I'm still waiting for Bad Company 3.
@ulgk karkand. and i am debating whether getting them. i want the close quarters map pack, but the other ones, i am still on the fence. but battlefield is far superior to call of duty, and this is coming from a guy who had every call of duty game released on the 360
@peanut-butter No indeed. I'm happy with BF3 and will be for a fair few years to come, just like all the other multiplayer BF games on PC.
I probably won't even purchase BF4 for a long time after it comes out... How is BF even going to be "improved" on the current generation? PC's could handle a massive game but until we see the next generation of consoles games aren't gonna get much better. Just buy BF1942, BF2 or BF2142 if you want a good shooter...
@NoahRoalson there is a huge probability that bf4 will ship with the new console generation
to create good games by next episode the creators have to find a breach in the past history to make a mistery in the new episode, but sometimes, those things dont work by a good way.

@ScumbagKazuela @RenegadeGRThe problem, dude, is not the frequency of their game releases, I'm perfectly fine with that....the problem obviously is that the next game is BF4!! We are all still just getting the hang of BF3, new DLCs are stil gonna be released and already the next game from DICE is BF4, another entry in the main series. Let BF3, thrive, mature, and make another game in the main series only after BF3 has been played for a long while and gamers are fully satisifed and are ready for BF4...they could seriously do with making games like Mirror's Edge 2 or Bad Company 3...seriously

2 Like They are both spot on! Games are becoming too linear and scripted and restrictive in main missions... happened with MOH and then BF3. Freedom to explore has gone out to trash. This unfortunately is why games in the last 3 years I ha`ve only completed about 30% of main misssion and it becomes boringly linear and scripted.
Try more freedom and choices... like eg. Crysis type of main missions freedom!!
@Zeussa Single player campaign? What's that then? Sounds like something new bolted on to a multiplayer series that's been running on the PC for years to me. 170 hours of MP thus far, still loving it. Will continue to do so. If you're buying the main Battlefield games for single player only, don't, as you are judging the garnish, not the main meal.
BF3 isn't about single player..... its the first "true" battlefield to even have single player, and they only added it in for the console owners, becuase they wont "get" buying a game that has no single player....
If BF3 had been make for PC primarly, and 100% time and focus was put into the MP exerience, then maby BF3 would be amazing like BF2 but with new gfx...physics and maps.
@Zeussa I still haven't finished BF3's single player and have logged over 100hrs multi-player (which I think is terrific)
can someone tell me how i can play BF4 beta on my now dated ps3 console if its going to be next gen ?? thanks. And further more why release this data to the public, i was just starting to enjoy BF3, it hasn't been a year since it arrived.
@itchyflop It will proberly work in the same way the BF3 beta did with Medal of Honour pre orders... Its tied to your EA account Email/Username, not console.
Then when its time, they send an email to the address your EA account is registered too, and you got a beta spot, I even had a choice of what platform to play it on.... i preordered MoH on ps3, but got the BF3 beta (like months - a year+ later) for Pc.

3 Like Why should they? Waste of time, money, resources....most people are going to move on to 4 even if it's a worse game. Everyone moved on from BC2 even though that was a far superior game on the consoles.
2 Like @MaddenBowler10 Still is far superior on both consoles and PC. I wish that they would go back to the BC2 destruction...I loved destroying entire buildings in that game. BF3 destruction blows...and I can't help but feel like they nerfed the destruction so that consoles could handle BF3. :(

3 Like i would bloody hope so to. As the last dlc will come out in march/april 2013 time and in 6-7months after you will release another battlefield game is just shocking and stupid.....
I pray this will be Battlefield 2143, if so i can understand as 2142 was a very different game from bf2. So i hope it will be 2143 that comes out next year. I will not buy it if its another modern day shooter...

I would much hope for something refreshing... and please maybe a FULL Vietnam based game (like BF Vietnam, the original PC title), a forgotten war by the game industry....
EA we dont want to pay for extra maps what you gave us was fine to begin with and if those extra maps really improve the experiance then you guys are a bunch of cheap !@#$s we dont want to see more add on packs if they are going to be $15 each we alread payed $60 dollers for the game and we dont want to pay $60 more. if thats what we got to pay for more maps then I wont buy them, It a load of bull !@#$.
