i know it's not gonna happen but i still really wish the super robot taisen series is released in english in the US. damn those licensing rules!
Recent bundle of famous strategy RPG series bumps Nintendo racer from top spot; console sales experiencing post-holiday slump.
Namco Bandai has won Japanese gamers over with a rerelease of a Super Robot Taisen title, a franchise that combines strategy role-playing gameplay with mechas from popular anime and manga culture. The latest game in the series took out the top spot in sales for January 9, according to the recent Media Creates chart update.
The Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Masou Kishin I & II bundle for the PSP knocked Mario Kart 7 off pole position with 81,996 units sold on its debut week. Meanwhile, Nintendo sold 52,266 units of Mario Kart 7 and 40,154 units of Super Mario 3D Land. Monster Hunter 3G for the 3DS was placed third with 44,644 units sold.
Other new titles on the list include Spirit Camera and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy for the 3DS. The former is a spiritual successor to the Fatal Frame series where gamers have to escape a haunted house and defeat ghosts using their mystical cameras. Spirit Camera was at seventh place with 16,351 units sold. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is an entirely new flight simulator title that sticks to the mechanics of past Ace Combat titles. The 3DS title was at ninth place with 12,819 units sold.
On the hardware front, the 3DS and PlayStation Vita experienced big drops on the post-holiday week. Nintendo sold 100,668 units of the 3DS, while Sony sold 18,361 units of the PS Vita. For comparison, Nintendo and Sony sold 240,819 and 42,915 units of their respective consoles on the last Media Creates update. Sony managed to sell 30,332 units of the PlayStation 3 and 22,538 units of the PSP.

@sagameister3 uhm.....no........the 3DS is actually a lot more expensive in Japan, its almost $200...before tax. So......and no...they dont have THAT many more games than they have in the US. the ones they dont have in the US arent selling all that well anyways... @Iamtrent424 uhmm...mortal kombat? no. Street Fighter and Tekken are popular here, not Mortal Kombat. The PSV is currently $325 for the wifi only and $390 for the wifi, both those prices do no include tax. the average PSV game also costs around $65. This is why it is not selling. Its more expensive than a PS3...welcome to gaming in Japan.
Some people just don't realize that the 3ds in Japan actually costs cheaper there than any other country. They also have a MUCH more expansive game library. I also agree that the Vita will follow suit in due time with a reduced price and bigger game library.
The vita will sell, when the vita release better games japan will start buying it. When games like Monster Hunter, Mortal Kombat and Final Fantasy comes out for the vita japan will start buying it. Japan oesnt play the same type of games like us . They more into Roleplaying action games like monster hunter and final fantasy and fighting games like mortal kombat. So in the united states I think the bundle isnt going sell a lot but the wifi version of the vita will sell around 250,000 and the 3G will sell around 100,000 + bundle which will sell around 50,000 . So i am predicting the week of 2.22 the vita will sell 400,000 + in the united states. People in the united states and europe are logging non stop about the vita, United States and Europe are more happy about the vita then japan. I think the Vita will sell over 500,000 during the 2/22 week worldwide and probably in march the vita sell in japan wil slowly climb back up and pass the Psp . SO the top selling gaming system come late feb and early march will look like this 3DS, PS VITA, PS3, Wii, PSP. the psp sell will drop once the vita start selling. and the sony stock starting to move back up as the date get closer to 2/22
I guess vita could be over because i have notice that psp game no1 in chart and aslo pspvita lost over psp since psp beat it. and well done for 3DSAgain over handled and there games. So do you think psp vita over ?
I know that Japanese are into their JRPG and the West are into FPS, but there are launch titles for the Vita that should have had a universal appeal, like the Golf one and Uncharted. guess their taste is growing more and more ... unique.
hope the vita has a better launch in the rest of the world next month. I have pre ordered mine already.
Nintendo has successfully used 3 way to Destroy Sony PSV.And weird that Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Masou Kishin I & II was the first because I remember MK7 still being on the top.
