Black Ops II preorders get Nuketown 2025 map
Activision offering "reimagined" fan-favorite map from original Black Ops to those who preorder shooter for consoles and PC.
Gamers who enjoyed blasting enemies in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops' Nuketown multiplayer map will be happy to learn the locale is making a return in this November's sequel. Activision announced today that those who preorder Call of Duty: Black Ops II for consoles and PC will be given a code to download Nuketown 2025, a "reimagined" version of the 2010 original.
Activision did not provide any specifics regarding how Nuketown 2025 is any different from the original, and as of press time, the firm had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
In a FAQ page regarding the Nuketown 2025 map, Activision confirmed that those who already preordered Black Ops II will also get the map. Additionally, the company said Nuketown 2025 is not locked away on the game's disc, and will instead be delivered digitally on launch day.
The Nuketown map in 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops is one of the smallest arenas in the history of the series and is the game's most played map. It depicts a 1960s United States suburb, complete with houses, a bus, and shrubbery. At the end of every multiplayer match, a bomb goes off, and the town is destroyed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II is due out on November 13 and is a sequel to 2010's original Black Ops, which is the best-selling series entry to date, moving more than 25 million copies as of August 2011. For more on the upcoming game, check out GameSpot's latest preview.
