Description

You won't find any scores in here, but if you're wondering what GameSpot's reviewers are working on right now this is the blog you should be bookmarking.

Welcome to Under Review, GameSpot's new reviews blog. If you're wondering what kind of posts you can expect to find here in the coming weeks and months we have something in common. Truth is, we're not entirely sure how this blog will evolve over time, but in short, we'll be talking about GameSpot's reviews and how we go about writing them.

If you think we're late posting a review, there's a good chance that this blog will be the place where we tell you why. It won't be because we're unaware of the game's existence or because we're too lazy to write about it, but maybe it'll be because we never received a finished copy before it arrived in stores, or because we want to test the game's multiplayer features against the same players that you'll be encountering online rather than under controlled conditions against developers and testers.

We might also decide to offer a running commentary of sorts as we play through some of the games that we're reviewing, though we'll still be reserving our final judgment on those games for the reviews proper. We'll be updating Under Review regularly, so don't be a stranger.

Here's a question for anyone who's willing to hear.. why hasn't anyone, and I mean anyone on the whole world wide internet (with the exception of Nintendo power) reviewed River King for DS? Not only can I not find any reviews, I can barely find any previews or hands on either. Did Marvelous or Natsume or whomever ban people from reviewing it? Did the reviewers of the world all get together and collectively decide that the game isn't worth reviewing? Or is everyone just playing GTA IV and don't have time for a lowly fishing game?

Anyone else find it mildly ominous that this blog's first post's title was a weird, unfunny punkronym? (yeah, I totally made that word up)

_BlueDuck_, we haven't stopped, but faced with choices to review newly released titles and older games released via the VIrtual Console, we simply have to give our attention to original releases. Obviously, we aren't going to leave the Virtual Console behind, so you should expect to see more reviews of those games as our staffing fills out.

Here's a question - has Gamespot officially stopped reviewing VC games? Unless I'm mistaken I haven't seen a VC review posted in ages.

Looks like a good idea, since i'm curious myself why some pc games for 1 don't get video reviews and secondly why they can take much longer to get a review up, i thought GS was just phasing them out like everyone else, we will soon see!

Seeing as you responded to another user, Kevin-V, i was wondering if you knew who would be getting to PES2008 for the Wii? I'm curious to see what you guys think of it.

This blog sounds like a great idea.

gmaster, if I remember correctly, Aaron is working on Hot Shots Golf right now. At the end of the day, there are only so many of us, and with staff as short as it is, there will be some reviews that get posted after the game is released to retail shelves.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I mean, I've heard some complaints from some others about the fact some games haven't been reviewed right on the spot. But, it's great to see this will cover that huh? Well, cool. Thanks.

I like it. It will definitely allow us as users to understand the reviews process better and hopefully reduce the number of idiots who decry the review scores on the forums...hopefully.

Along with PressSpotting, this seems very good.
