Henninger completely agree. Capcom would show some great works applying the same mechanics from the last two Re's to a remake of Re2. Plus, a new Onimusha and Dino Crisis would surely kick ass.
Publisher rides Miles Edgeworth, RE5, Monster Hunter to $204M in sales; Bionic Commando underperforms with 550,000 units, Dark Void delayed, Monster Hunter 3 ships 1M.
Capcom's last fiscal year was a strong one. Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV boosted the publisher's 12-month take 10 percent year-over-year to nearly $1 billion, with profit creeping up 3 percent to $81.6 million. Today, the publisher revealed that the good times continue to roll in Osaka, as first-quarter revenues for its current fiscal year, jumped 19.2 percent over the previous year to ¥19.5 billion ($204 million).
Though revenue was clearly up for Capcom during the three-month period ended June 30, profit was more of a mixed bag. Operating income climbed 23 percent during the period to ¥3.66 billion ($38.3 million), boosted by Capcom's successful home video game business. However, the publisher's arcade business continues its inconsistent performance, dragging net income--or profit--down 6.4 percent to ¥2.23 billion ($23.3 million) during the period.
According to the publisher, a number of titles performed well during the period. Capcom said that Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, which is set for release in North America on February 16, "showed a favorable sales increase," as Resident Evil 5 and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite continued to perform. In June, Capcom pegged RE5 sales at 5 million, while the PSP-exclusive Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has sold 3.5 million units in Japan alone.
Capcom also touted the first milestone of Monster Hunter 3(tri-) for the Wii. Capcom said that retailers have ordered 1 million units of the latest installment in the action role-playing franchise in advance of the game's August 1 street date in Japan. Notably, the game will be available solo or as part of the first third-party game bundle for Nintendo's console.
It wasn't all good news, though. Capcom said that its Bionic Commando reboot, which was created by Swedish studio GRIN, "underperformed its expected sales," selling just 550,000 units during the quarter. The publisher also noted that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has not been able to duplicate its performance outside of Japan. The PSP title was released in the US on June 22, and Capcom called its performance thus far "weak," with continued sales in Japan bolstering the game to 600,000 units during the period.
Capcom also said today that it would be delaying Airtight Games' Dark Void out of the holiday release window, due to fears that the game would be lost in the holiday shuffle. The publisher now expects to ship the game during its January-March fiscal quarter.
Woot! Go Capcom!!! And I dont care who you are.... Resident Evil 5 is the best yet. So what if its not like the other dark enviroments.... I like to look around! I cant wait for Dark Void... ?CAPCOM?WILL?EAT?YOU?ALL?!!!!!!!?

no doubt the best game that i knew such as others great games any way i finished it and i wonder now if they will creat RE6!!!
Such a clever company. They can milk any franchise till its bone dry and still make a huge profit. You have to admire them for that.
i want the ability to play 13 different resident evil games resident eivl gc resident evil 0 gc resident evil 3 gc resident evil 2 gc resident cvx gc re4 gc re4 wii re 1 wii reuc wii redc wii and re 0 wii id like re 2 wii re 3 wii re cvx wii and also more lol
Sheesh, another developer jumping on the "Fears the game will be lost in the holiday shuffle" talk. If every developer keeps talking like that all the games will come out next year at the same time instead. Good to see Capcom going strong though, one of the very few developers who deserves their credibility. Despite their somewhat lame DLC for games.
It's good to see a company that has been around since I was a youngin' still going strong. They've given me many great gaming memories over the years, here's hoping for many more.
This is only the beginning. With RE5, MVC2 and SF4, Capcom will be the top 10 best multiplatform games of 2009. Also, Tatsunoko VS Capcom, Dark Void, Ace Attorney Investigations and other games, Capcom will conclude the fiscal year (2009-2010) with positive numbers "Keep it up, Capcom. The more gerat games, the better".
Dammit people, go out and buy Monster Hunter Freedom: Unite! It's easily one of (if not the) best games on PSP, regardless of what GS's review says.
I actually bought Bionic Commando recently because it was on sale @ EB Games for 19.99 new. That was the worst 19.99 I had ever spent!
I like capcom they are consistent. keep it up lad's. but seriously your fighters need ot be brought up with the play feature wize, look at all the lovlyness we are getting for the tekken console addition. take heed....
Good for them, especially for all the support they are giving PC gaming which makes a bigger fan of them. Street Fighter IV is great on the PC, well optimized and ultra cool thanks to the mods. Hadoken!
@taylormadederek You're right. It was a good action game. But that's about it. I think they butchered the RE characters, story, and the whole survival horror that came with the older titles. It's good to hear that you feel the same about the dramatic change in the franchise.
@ Sabriel_Ysane I could not agree more about that. However the characters are all intact and so is the "cheese". The story, "zombies", and levels are ...ho-hum. Either way it was an amazing action game...just not totally in the RE vein. Some of you might think otherwise but you are MOSTLY (please read mostly) people who jumped on with RE4, so you don't really know.
Release a game that people want to play and surprise surprise! in come the profits... other game developers take notice!
....that means you got no excuse for delaying devil may cry 5, chop chop now i don't have all day..............
My god I hate what has become of resident evil. I miss the fixed camera angels and the eerie shadowing. And most of all, that feeling that anything can come out at you at any moment. RE is dead to me now. And why is Monster Hunter so unpopular in the states? By far it's one of the most creative, original, and entertaining games to date. Not to mention the multiplayer! It's fantastic! I bought my copy the first day of its release. I don't feel real strong about MH3 coming out on wii, however I will continue to show my support by buying a copy. If not to play, then to atleast show I care about how much the capcom team has put into this.
I am a huge RE fan but RE5 does not do the story justice. Other than that there are soooo many parts that are great. Wesker and all the awkward speech moments are right on target. It was one of the best action games ever created, just not "believable" zombies. SF4 was an amazing fighting game. The characters are very balanced and you feel the anticipation as the match is about to begin. Both games got my money. Too bad for Bionic Commando. I will pick it up for cheap. You see when you release quality products you do well. Also down with all the holiday games. Capcom just showed that (as many have before) you don't need to do that. Gamers buy games all year.
