Civilization V DLC brings Denmark, new maps

why do they make all these DLCs they should just make and expansion instead where you get them all at once instead

@georgirobot I think youll find that pc gamers in general, moreso I the strategy crowd, loathe and despise dlc. As far as they are concerned, if it doesn't change game mechanics with something new as well as a lot of content, it should be counted as a patch and thus, free. The other point is that there are mods out there which are better and free as well.

Also, I like 90% of my wins in Civ 4 were Cultural Victories. I play Civ 5 and is able to alternate between victory conditions every other game. I immediately uninstalled Civ 4 after that.

@Chibiabos Hahahaha you think this is an Xbox 360 game! The games have received like a dozen (maybe more) patches that did some improvements and fixes. One arrived yesterday, even. Nobody pay for patches.

At this point, I think I will wait Steam to have a big sale on all the expansions. Just to many coming out seems like anymore. Really bad all this is not in the game purchase. Seems to be the way the market is now these days.

Harald Hardrada invaded England and fought Harold Godwinson at Stamford Bridge. Where battle-storm was ringing, Where arrow-cloud was singing, Harald stood there, Of armour bare, His deadly sword still swinging. The foeman feel its bite; His Norsemen rush to fight, Danger to share, With Harald there, Where steel on steel was ringing. Harald lost to Harold, who then went on to Hastings to fight William. Had he won at Stamford Bridge, or accepted a truce, he would have been at Hastings, but that would have far too confusing....

This is by far not enough for canceling the Pirates remake.

Denmark! Great! Now we have Lars Ulrich, King Diamond, and hash bars, but still no diplomacy screen or options and absolutely no way way to discern the disposition of your opposition. Spies? Nope. Back to the drawing board on Civ VI then I guess...

Where's the DLC to fix the bugs, make the AI decent, make late game turn processing less frustratingly slow and make the game generally fun? How much will that DLC cost?

As a Civ fan i wasn't that keen on CIV 5. It had some very good additions but was so bare and stripped it didn't feel like a proper Civilization game. Now they are charging for new maps and single civilizations when in the past they released expansion packs with a load of gameing changes and additions. Beyond the Sword was a great addition to Civ 4.

Am I mistaken, or weren't NEITHER of the belligerents in the battle of hastings Danish? Anyway, sounds cool. Norway would be cooler though.

Um, I see one problem, the Danes weren't at Hastings in 1066, it was William the Conqueror of Normandy against another Harald, this one a Saxon (there were atleast 2, I think three, big named Haralds in 1066). The Danes did invade England in 870's and tried to conquer the island but were repulsed by the Kingdom of Wessex led by King Alfred the Great.

Get me hotseat DLC, and I'll pay 10 dollars for it. It should have come with the actual game but my copy of Civ5 has been collecting dust since its release. It is close to useless to me without hotseat, so I'll pay for overpriced DLC if it means it makes the game playable. It shouldn't even take long to add it to the game either. Those A-holes are probably saving it for some expansion pack, just like Anno 1404 did with multiplayer.

Wow the game supports mods where you can get way more content and they expect us to pay for DLC.

By the way, you can go to the mod section in Civ 5 and download maps.... for free..... what a joke.

How about making a good game instead of all this horrible DLC? Civ5 is the worst Civ I have ever played. Hey Firaxis, take your DLC and shove it up your a**.

More paid DLC only makes me want this game less. Sad, as Civilization is (or was) my favorite franchise, above all other powerhouses.

Wow...these are some good DLC coming up with good content at a cheap price and I'm surprised how people are still annoyed.

It just feels like these are overpriced. I mean Civ4 expansions had say 10 new civ for $35, so about $3.50 per civ. With Civ5 it's $5 per civ. Not only are you paying more per civ, you're also not getting any new game mechanics that an expansion would bring. That said, I may buy all the DLC at once if they ever do a huge combo sale.

Im quickly losing faith in Firaxis when it comes to Civ. I can get into all my issues with Civ5 but thats for another topic. This however, is just plain annoying. Instead of developing a full fledged $30-40 expansion that adds to all aspects of the game.... were getting these crappy DLCs that add very little to the game. New maps? Who cares about new maps... I want to see substantial gameplay additions if I'm going to pay extrea for a game.
