Dance Central busts out 32 on-disc tracks
Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, more party to Harmonix's Kinect-enabled rump-shaker sim on 360, due November 4.
Microsoft expects to sell some 3 million Kinects this holiday season, and those Xbox 360 owners will undoubtedly be wanting something to do with their new camera-based motion-sensing controller. One option will be Dance Central from Rock Band creator Harmonix, which MTV Games has primed for launch day-and-date with Kinect's release on November 4.
Today, Harmonix announced the full 32-song on-disc setlist for its dance-based rhythm game, revealing routines that span the pop, funk, hip-hop, Latin, and R&B genres. Though a full list can be found below, standout artists include No Doubt, Eric B. & Rakim, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell, and Soulja Boy Tell 'Em.
Following in the tradition of Rock Band, Harmonix will provide the first add-on content for Dance Central upon the game's launch on November 4. Though the studio didn't offer word on what these tracks will be, it did say that they will feature all-new dance routines.

32 tracks seems low to me, considering you get double that on the average peripheral based music game, i understand this costs less than the other titles but ten bucks isnt that much less. still if theres one game for kinnect im after, its this one and the song choice does seem pretty good.
@monson21502, true but they wouldnt put on the Wii and the PS3 does have the Playstation Eye though and the motion controlers so it would work. Either way im sure the Kinect will be like the Eye.
@RitsukoEX, no each song has its own set of moves and they have to be learned in order for you to be good at the game. but i guess they could always do a patch so you can freestyle to your own music.but i think a song a few song packs is more likely. so they can make extra money
Wow...this track list makes the game look like it's geared toward an older audience like myself. I want to buy it, but the price tag of the game, it's minimal track list and Kinect's price...well, I won't be purchasing them right away. Gimme a sale!
This is what a track list for a dancing/rhythm game should be.....none of that eurotrash that plays when you are playing DDR
@soulless4now That's really not a lot of tracks. How much is the game costing again? **************************************************************** I believe it's $49.99. http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=Dance%20Central I wished they priced everything $29.99 - $39.99 like Sony did. For example Brunswick Bowling is $29.99 for the PS3 Move, while it's $49.99 for the XBox 360 Kinect. Why? http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=Brunswick The game sucks with the MOVE controller, but I can't believe it will be any better for the 360's Kinect either. I think Microsoft got the pricing wrong. I'm still getting Dance Central though.
This will prolly be the selling point for Kinect for me. I remember back in the day when I played DDR and got hooked. I mean I laugh at it now but I had a good time. Kinect being an actual dance game is something that I like. Song choice is ok but I am sure there will be PLENTY of DLC. Probably within the first few days. Ubisoft sold me on this one.
HAHA WHO COULD ACTUALLY LIKE THIS MUSIC...
@XAF1 couldn't you just used. the Xbox360 custom sound tracks? from the guide options?
Day one buy for me
Not really into this genre of music (only recognized about 4 or 5 of the artists listed). Now, if they make a country music edition I might be interested.
Soulja Boy.......FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..........
Some really good songs in there and some really really HORRIBLE ones... Soulja Boy? God dammit, Harmonix...
@MrZero Dance Central without a doubt is going to make or break Kinect. The set list looks like it's aiming to please people over 30. I thought I'd at least see a song by Ke$ha so i could make fun of it but no.
@dottyduke, the devs said they had this idea for years but needed the right tech to pull it off. and move or wii cant do this game only kinect can.. because its full body motion control.
@blackace Couldnt have said it better myself people are just idiots sometimes Kinect is going to be big, Im not even buying it til the price drops but for people who think it wont sell atleast 3 million come on now people get your facts straight like my buddy here Blackace has stated they have already had about 1 million preorders... we are still a month before its launch too... oh ye of little faith lol
I get the sense that they purposely made that song list short so that they can sell the rest as DLC. Also, they couldn't get a better Rihanna song than 'Pon De Replay'? :? come on now.
To me it's better than DDR! :D
That's really not a lot of tracks. How much is the game costing again?
@ToTs_00 "Microsoft expects to sell some 3 million Kinects this holiday season" I think Microsoft is in for a big surprise this holiday ************************************************************* Yeah.. they may actually sell over 3 million. They already have about 1 million pre-orders worldwide. Most places have already stopped taking pre-orders because the first round of Kinects are sold out. lol!! Got some decent music on their track list. This is one of my preorders. I need to boogie and lose some weight. I also pre-ordered Kinect Sports. Kinect Adventures is a packin.
"Microsoft expects to sell some 3 million Kinects this holiday season" I think Microsoft is in for a big surprise this holiday
Say what you will about Kinect (keep in mind, I'm very much a Playstation person) but this, on a conceptual level, blows DDR out of the water.
If Kinect didn't have this game, it would fail horribly. This is the only reason a lot of people (my self included) are even remotely interested in getting Kinect. Sure the navigation without a controller is cool, but not worth the $150 price tag; and honestly this game itself isn't worth buying a Kinect for, but it's at least a decent game for the peripheral. Hopefully other developers think of clever ways to use the system because besides this game, everything else looks like crap.
I guess no one saw hard mode on this game it's HARD it's not just for little kids or causal players but people don't even want to check it out I'm not saying buy it but you look at some videos dang! I know I'm going to get it tho.
I don't really care much for the song list. This is one of the games I wish you could use your own playlist with. Hopefully they will have more downloadable music and allow us to create playlists.
I give this a thumbs up I understand why it has a shorter setlist(lets face it, theres ALOT involved in the programming for the dance moves) and dancing, is going to be a rather interactive activity compared moreso to other music games, so youll tire out alot quicker i bet. all i all, with downloads obviously in the future, this will be a good start for songs to dance to in game
If there was ever one game that I ever thought was completely stupid, a joke and I had wished to fail and crush the company that made it, it is this one. The "moves" are joke moves, and I've never, in my entire life, found something so laughable and ridiculous as this game. I know my view sounds extreme but this game is ******* ********.
I just hope Harmonix made sure they have all the legallities with these singer/writers in check so down the road you won't hear of another lawsuit...
it's gonna kinect with the casual gamer. ;) if "just dance" sold well, this game should do well... unfortunately, you need a kinect to play it. too bad the kinect didn't deliver what they promised it to be...
@LoserMike - No, thats not what it means at all. What a smaller song list means is they want you to grow tierd of the game faster so you're more likely to buy DLC or new versions of the game. Why do you think most games are only 3-4 hours long now adays? Its sure as hell not because developers are spending all their time on gameplay development...
i'm not much of a dancer, but this game intrigues me. i might check it out when i buy Kinect
I hope they put this game on the PS3. (there thinking about doing that) Looks really good though.
this game is pure gold. its gonna be a major kinect and 360 seller imo
It's sad to see Harmonix associated with a garbage peripheral like Kinect. Ah, well, at least they still have Rock Band.
This is the shortest songlist from Harmonix since Guitar Hero 80s. Though I guess that means they're spending more time building the game engine and creating moves than choosing songs.
Gayyyy... can i say gay on here?
Im not feeling this list of songs... honestly its rather boring except a few of them. And theres nothing from 2010... How about some up to date songs, or more popular dance songs that youd actually WANT top dance to in a club. Do such artists cost too much to license? Are those artists dance steps too complex for kinect? Ive also not been impressed with the dance steps so far. Too much old school , not enough new school. I cant see myself wanting to dance to "Poison" more than like twice... Id like to see some popular songs from (new and old songs): Lil Jon (SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS!) Janet Jackson Ciara Rhinna (pon de replay?? really????) Sean Paul Usher Kanye MIssy Elliot Estelle NERD Wyclef Brandy BEYONCE???? (why single ladies for all of us to embarrass ourselves, isnt on here ill never know) Destinys child Christana Agulera Black Eye Peas Jazmine Sullivan Ester Dean Chris Brown Mary J Blige Outkast Gwen Stafani? -_- Aaliyah Mariah Carey More Lady Gaga Timberland Justin Timberlake Alicia Keys Amy Winhouse Flo Rida Yin Yang Twins Shakira Michael Jackson I could go on really...
This is the best Kinect game I've seen so far.
I will admit that I was skeptical at first about the Kinect system, but after having a Wii, and experimenting with PlayStation Move, I think Microsoft has hit the nail on the head. Not just a gaming device, but a new way to fully maneuver through the operating system. After doing a lot of research on both the Kinect and Dance Central. I cannot wait for this set up. I am not one to reserve things, but I have these on reserve. I cannot wait!
Dance Central will sell Kinects
say i suck if you want, but, dance central could be this peripheral's halo. the killer app. no matter if you hate it or not @erroljames, this game will be the game everyone recommends. remember when a lot of journalists and whatnot bashed kinect, but then when they got in the virtual circle dance central wanted them to jump in, they fell in love, or the new sonic game for kinect. i am not saying i am buying one (i may just trade in my old xbox and get the 250 gig kinect bundle because, well its a 250 gig hard drive, and my birthday is in december) but if i get it, you can be rest assured i will get dance central and look like an idiot trying to dance. and come on, its a game from harmonix. do you REALLY not think they will have dance tracks for this? so do not worry, you will see tons of songs on there eventually. this is rock band... but dancing! loosen up dude.
Set list looks WACK. A lot of first singles, no Michael or Janet Jackson, and I don't see one song from 2010.
