Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut coming to PS3 Q1 2013

Details finally emerge on Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut; game coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 early next year.
The winner of GameSpot's 2010 Most Surprisingly Good Game is getting a Director's Cut. Deadly Premonition, which arrived in the West over two years ago, is being updated with new content, visuals, and controls, and will release exclusively on PlayStation 3 in Q1 2013.
According to the game's director, Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, the new cut will have a reworked control system which will improve the game's combat, a new scenario which will add to the game's story, and improved high-definition graphics. The original game wasn't produced in HD, whereas the Director's Cut has been completely remastered in 1080p resolution. Swery is also planning post-launch downloadable content following the Director's Cut release.
The original Deadly Premonition was famously one of the most critically divisive games of the last few years. It sits on a 68 Metascore on reviews aggregator Metacritic, with scores ranging from 20 right up to 100 out of 100. The Director's Cut will mark the first time the game will have been released on the PlayStation 3 in the West, following an Xbox 360-exclusive release the first time around. It will be published in the US and Europe by Rising Star Games.

I just got a PS3 and I got the Xbox version on a whim. Least to say I will definitely be getting this cause it sounds like the only issue I had which was controls is gonna be fixed. Definitely the most surprisingly good game I've played in a long time. Very quirky.
Holy cow, this game came out for PS3 a long, long time ago. Most of my friends already imported it. Strange that this took so long.
I fear it's going to sell rather poorly.

@SirenAries @Bubblikid I can agree with most of your comments on here, but console bias is pretty weak. Nothing belongs on a specific console.
I like how they say this is for the loyal fanbase of the original... and then make it a PS3 exclusive. They'll get no money from me anymore, that's for sure.
@cup_a_soup it was avail in japan for ps3 from the beginning. only 360 in the west. go play it for 360 and consider yourself lucky to experience this game at all. ps3 had to wait 2 plus years. they dont want your money so no big loss
@SirenAries Then sell the extra stuff as DLC on the 360 then. It's still a massive way to screw the fanbase, like the rest of the JP devs have done to the 360 the last year or so.
It's a PS3 exclusive because it's already out of the 360, methinks. Like... if you already have the game on the 360, you're probably not in the game's target audience, what with it being a PS3 port and all...
@shmedo On the bright side the PS3 is region free, even so, here's hoping something does happen in the way of a local release.
@MEATBALLIN @shmedo the game needs a translation all text is japanese. you miss out on alot so importing it was not an option plus it was like 100 to import it
I knew it was on the PS3 in Japan, but never came here. I did hear a long while ago that it was going to be released on the PS3, but now we have some sort of time table and it makes me really, really happy. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
I never played this game the first time around, but isn't adding a completely new element like gunplay game breaking? That's such an obscure way to update a game and I feel like it might offend the original players.
@Dmg051793 The original game already had gunplay, they just reworked the awkward controls
The cult following and devotion of the fans may make this re-release enhanced edition sell fairly decently. I will be interested how that turns out. A lot of people may buy this based on all the reaction to it.
Although, that's what happened when it originally released too haha
If you love alan wake, then you will like this game. Its a solid horror mystery game that actually delivers on the horror unlike more recent "horror" games.
The interview is the video itself. Guessing the text expected it to be placed at the bottom for whatever reason.
I've never heard of this title before. I must have had my head in the sand during its initial release...

@Big_Pecks It's both. That's part of the game's unique identity. It has some aspects about it that are bad and/or outdated; it has some that are bad but funny because of it; and it has some that are good. It all adds up to a wild, weird, and unique experience.
this game is GOOD. it you like games with great character developement and storyline, definitely give this one a try. but it's probably not for those who's looking for horror action with flashy visual.

HELL YEAH!! About freakin' time.....ironically I had just been thinking about this game literally just last week (seeing as though this is October and Halloween time's coming)!
I've heard nothing but good things on this and was actually contemplating import the Japanese PS3 version (which as been out, for like, well...FOREVER!) if we wasn't gonna get any updated news on the US release. So, so glad to finally hear this!! ^_^
