Deadpool game in the works at Activision

The Merc With A Mouth is getting his very own game, as Activision has put up the first teaser for its upcoming Deadpool title.
The publisher has launched a countdown site at DeadpoolGame.com, with the timer set to expire this afternoon. As of press time the site contained little more than the timer, an image recalling Deadpool's distinctive mask, and various logos and legal text.
One of the logos on the page is that of High Moon Studios, the developer behind Activision's Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron games. Prior to developing Transformers titles, High Moon Studios built 2008's The Bourne Conspiracy for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and 2005's original Xbox and PlayStation 2 title Darkwatch.
The Deadpool project was teased in the Comic-Con 2012 programming guide, which promised High Moon Studios would be at a panel on Marvel-based games to make an announcement. That panel takes place this afternoon, starting a little more than an hour before the Deadpool countdown clock expires.
[UPDATE]: The Deadpool game was indeed a focus of attention at the Comic-Con panel, with the mercenary interrupting the show with a bullhorn to talk about the game. A trailer for the game was played twice during the panel, and a 2013 release window was specified.

1 Like As much as i'm a fan of the deadpool comics. i'm kinda on the fench about Activision making the game. i wish it were Rocksteady working on it. if they can do for Deadpool what they did for Two great batman games then it'd be a big win. hopefully more of this game will be shown in the coming months.
As far as comic-to-game adaptations go, this one could actually be worse than the depiction of Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Anyway, I hope there is a good story and lots of voice acting from Deadpool in this game. Would be nice if he broke the fourth wall and the curse of bad adaptations at the same time.
as much as i like deadpool , this game seems a RE-SKINED version of DUKE NUKEM FOREVER and if it is... it will suuuuuuck.
Too early to be interesting, just note a fact. And if the atmosphere is going to be just like the trailer, I'll pass.
Gotta say while the guy playing Deadpool was funny sometimes, there were a lot of times where he was just kind of annoying. Hopefully the game isn't like that.
I'm speaking specifically about the guy playing him at the panel, not in the game trailer.
Its rare that a superhero game is every done correctly. but lately the developers are gettting better at it. as long as there isn't a Deadpool movie release date deadline it has a chance.

@Drakillion I understand the hatred for Activision. We all hate them. However, they're often only publishers of most of their games, and not necessarily makers. Aside from distributing the games and slapping their logo on the cover, that's about all the involvement they have.
I stopped the whole "BOYCOTT ACTIVISION!!!" thing a couple years ago. If the game is awesome, I don't give two flying craps who made it. I just want my dollar's worth.
@Drakillion Why is everyone hatin on activision? they may not make the games you like, but they are responsible for some pretty good franchises, include WoW (I don't care for it, but it's a huge hit), True Crime (which was amazing while it lasted), and of course my favorite CoD. they won't ruin this.
1 Like Since its activision it will be a first day purchase for me, as in the first day i see it uesd and they dont receive any money from me. I like activision, i just hate their business practices since early ps2-xbox days. Let's run tony hawk till it dies, ok that worked lets run guitar hero til it dies. Ok, how about a decent pc shooter, lets run COD into the ground until the people that made it even get tired of it and leave the company because bobby kotick screwed them. I think this topic has some of the worst grammar I've ever seen on this site. I personally thought the trailer was humorous but I will be waiting to see what reviews say. Even if its good, its a 20 dollar purchase max. Love Deadpool though.

now this might not be too bad. give it a chance, people. we have a psychotic anti-hero, a beautiful asian woman (with rather nice animated bouncies) and plenty of gunplay/violence to season this super hero themed game. i'm willing to give it a shot.

@mkdoomfan2 @superkadeemx I am not saying the game will be bad. But publishers have alot of influence on the game itself. During game making i believe they will filtered out all those ideas and selected what they want. what i am afraid from such money oriented publisher is they will try to use as low budget as possible(well it's a new ip not cod) to get as much money as possible (dlc, subscription, etc). If it work they will recycled it every year, if not work they just kill it off. From gamer point of view i dont like it.
@superkadeemx Since they are one of the biggest game publishers around. With them publishing, the advertisements will be bigger, and the news of the game will be spread around faster. I say that's one really good idea to have Deadpool have his own game published by Activision, and developed by high Moon :)
I'm actually glad this guy is getting a game he deserves it. and sense when did activision make bad games they seem to me they make billions of dollars every time they release one. people just like to complain about things myself included but try some optimism you dweebs they are fully capable of getting this right right! I hope ;)

If you say so. It's one thing to have a character who is immature with slick writing, but another with an immature character and sophomoric writing. Spiderman/ Peter Parker was a tad bit immature but the writing was witty.
The Deadpool I remember from the comics wasn't that immature, he was a psychopath.

1 Like That's because everyone is so eager to use their freedom of speech instead of their freedom of thought which they hardly ever use. The internet has become a breeding ground for morons to voice their opinions as fact and tell everyone else they're wrong for having an opinion. They somehow feel entitled and wish for the whole world to know that they think everything should be as they wish it to be. They have little to no room for the idea that they inhabit a world with other people who matter just as much if not more so than they do. Some of the truly detestable creatures I've seen and heard on the internet get less consideration from me than a maggot.
