Defiance release date set for April 2

Defiance is amazing.  It's beautifully written, masterfully executed, and the story is engaging... Very rare by today's standards.

Each alien race has its own life, language and culture. The feel around the hybrid world is unlike any other. Defiance has familiar aspects yes, but for the most part, it's truly unique and VERY enthralling.

Playing the game AND watching the show engages you more than any other story to date and makes you truly feel like you're part of the world.

HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who loves stellar visuals blended with fantastic story telling.

Okay, with that the last bit of tepid interest in all this just got flushed down the toilet. Syfy's writing is shaky enough without letting gamers dictate what they're going to do. :/

I'm confused... I thought this game was supposed to be free to play?

Cant wait to get my hands on a copy of this game it seems really interesting and i would like to see how the show comes out as well

Very excited for this mmo to come out, from just playing the closed beta and stress tests I have high hopes.  They have a great story to build off of and the game play is extremely fun, since cannot say to much due to EULA best way to describe it is Open world PvE like Tabula Rasa had mixed with some open world PvP plus instances and BG's.  But twenty times more refined already for a beta. 

As well since its Trion I have high expectation of a smooth launch just like Rift had, they did it once they can do it again.  I believe next beta is in February so apply on the site now for a chance to get in, first come first serve.

As bad as mmo's get, mmo shooters just sound like taking all the worst parts of mmo's and making them worse and then shoving them to the fore...I will never understand making a shooter an mmo, this is just gouging shooter-players even without a fee.

Is this pay once to play or does it use a subscription model?

Fun game that I am looking forward to playing. The gameplay is well made and action packed, the kind of gameplay MMO's should have. The story is interesting, if seemingly inconsequential, so I think that the TV show tie in will help the game out quite a bit. That is, of course, if the TV show doesn't get cancelled. I enjoyed the first beta, so I am looking forward to see what they do with it. My only fear is lack of end game content, but that will hopefully be remedied by continuous content based on the direction of the show.

I have never played a good MMO in my life because combat is usually miserable but I'm hoping this changes the playing field.

It's interesting to see the show affected by events in the game, but what happens if hackers alter the game to extremes? I'll bet anything the producers of the show will completely ignore what happens in the game for the sake of the show's health and that's a good thing.

Why even bring up the lay-offs? It's unrelated.  They've posted a few times that it was post-thining of the Rift Stormlegion team after the expansion released.  This is no different than other games that do the same thing after a major title/expansion releases and most of the artists, programmers, and what have you no longer have anything to do with the product after it launched.  Blizzard's done it many times, but I don't see it posted under every article related to Heart of the Storm.  I smell biased and trying to add disdain to an otherwise good announcement.

Anyways, glad to hear that the game is launching a few weeks before the show.  That gives some time to get into the Universe before watching it.
