EA employee LinkedIn page suggests upcoming role-playing game in development for unannounced future consoles.
When Electronic Arts officially announced Dragon Age III: Inquisition in September, the company did so without specifying platforms. Now, it has been suggested that the upcoming role-playing game, officially due late 2013, could land on still-unannounced next-generation systems from Microsoft and Sony.
The LinkedIn resume of an EA Shanghai employee (spotted by Superannuation) states the scope of Dragon Age III: Inquisition has changed, and it is now planned for next-generation consoles. Additionally, this employee says the game has been "postponed" to 2014.
An EA representative declined to comment.
Dragon Age III: Inquisition is the third entry in BioWare's role-playing game series. It follows 2009's Dragon Age: Origins and 2011's Dragon Age II. In all, the series has sold more than 8 million units.
So DA III would be next gen!Why i'm not suprised,is just so freaking nice to know all the time ive wasted building a story to port to DA III,putting with all those stupid achievments were utterly for nothing whatsoever!Well done EA!!Eyes on the prize ($$$$$) as always!
DAII was a disappointment, hope they make games without many stupid adult continents. hope this 1 have open world and not 2 be just focused on main story only.
No I know this game will fail. Not because it won't be good though I 'm not holding my breath but because it won't ever recoop its development costs which sound like they are astronomical with one area in 3 being as large as all of 2. Cost coupled with loss of faith in the Bioware Brand and the hatred for EA and now next generation consoles. I just can't see this game turning a profit.
We don't need any more of this stuff, especially if it stays M-rated, that's just inexcusable. I'm starting to be ashamed of my Bioware fanship.
Anyone that played Dragon Age II should know that the longer Bioware takes on this game, the better. Most of DA2's problems could have been avoided if Bioware didn't rush the game to release.
@II_Exile_II @syler4815162342 Well tbh that game had a lot of design fuck ups as well.. Such as trying to make it more mainstream with gutting all the core gameplay/atmosphere mechanics of the first game and then creating a horrible story where every single bad thing that happened was "Because.. BLOOD MAGIC!"
I just want to say: Take your time Bioware... Dragon Age was incredible but DA2 was ok... Make sure to not haste the release of DA3 so that we can have an awesome time playing and talking about it!!!
In another note, Jade Empire 2 would be awesome!!! But that's my opinion!!!
Gray warden with old fellas include morigan and Flemeth, hawke with his gand and Corypheus who will unleash blight + Mage templar revolt against chantry will make good story, But don't haste game, if you want to have some game releasy in 2013 make jade empire 2, and Da 3 in 2014.
@wexorian i'd rather have a full cast of completely new characters, each with their own story's and each developing on their own.
I love Alistair and morrigan, hell all of the cast from DA:O(Loghain being my absolute favourite villain in a video game so far).
But i think the series needs a complete makeover at this point, especially with the damage that DA2 has inflicted on the series. Dragging back old favourites, feels too much like appeasing the fanboys/girls, instead of trying to write a good full story that can stand on it's own.
Don't get me wrong, PC rules all. But with that said, current consoles make everything look bad. Seven year old tech does that. I only use PS3 for blu-ray now. Next gen consoles are long overdue.
I don't always play games, but when I do I play games with great graphics AND great game play. Stay thirsty my friends.
@TheOnlyConan totally agreed,I have all 360 PS3 and high end PC,Yes I also have 60"TV still PC is my favorite,I have game developers make games to match console need first , when they do graphics standard just drop like hell. I don't always play games neither that''s bebcause there isn't so many decent games makes me want to Last year my no1 is skyrim It's awsome for PC!!!played over 200 hours
I hope for our sake the PC version is actually developed as such. Unlike Skyrim which was just a console port over to pc and poorly done at that.
I liked DA:O It was a fun game. I've yet to beat it, but I plan on finishing it soon. Haven't played DA2, but it seems to me that DA:O was the last real isometric roleplaying game. It's sad that the genre is dying :(
@fightingfish18 it isn't project eternity is the second most funded project on kickstarter. only OUYA has more funding and that's a consol!!! or a mini-consol whatever...
frostbite 2 is a current gen engine. I wont buy it DAIII, you cant just keep saying "baldurs gate", bioware need to make up for dragon age II (which was disgracefully scored a 8 here). If it score 10s on IGN (no longer trust gamespots scores of bioware titles) I may buy it 12 months after its release ;)
@ChunkyDrawers i'm certain that, at some point a few months earlier, Bioware have said they are 'looking at Skyrim for influences'.
read into that what you will, but personally, i would like a more open-world Dragon Age game, if that's the direction they are going in.
@ChunkyDrawers No. No. No. No.
I can only handle so many 300+ hour open-world RPGs at a time. :|
@ChunkyDrawers The last thing bioware should be doing id copying Bethesda. They are creative enough to make their own path.
@ChunkyDrawers then I will play it like a year
Baldur's Gate: EE ftw, This shit ass dumbed down casuals-appeal serie died after Origin when they changed its gameplay, enjoy your overhyped crap people
If DA3 will be released in 2014, it will 'meet' The Witcher 3 (or Cyberpunk 2077) on his way. BioWare vs. CD Projekt RED again? :|
@Vojtass you think IP fans, and RPG fans will split with choices?Hardcore RPG, and IP fans will buy both. Dragon age is more heroic, character based game with amazing story and it was bought by casual and hardcore rpg players, witcher 2 was more mature with Ero scenes, With dark characters, Plenty choices and Bloody, as for me and for many can waste extra 120$ in month if they will release same month so it should not be problem :)
@Vojtass I don't think Bioware has any chance against CDPR right now :). I can say that next CDPR games are something i will per-order first day available as for next Bioware games i might get them after reviews(even then not sure).
@max-hit what's your problem with Champion story? Da 2 finale was perfect, whole acts were Sad, heroic and interesting but, Gameplay was not hard as Dao, and Zones were most copy paste retexture, Da 3 will continue Mage, templar war, with some templars Revolt against chantry,There's 2 more blight or one with 2 old god action with Corypheus return chances are grown, So i don't see how Hawke can F up story :)
argh, i take a real problem in this statement.
I HATED the finale for DA2. It felt rushed, it felt badly written, and, worst of all, it felt like a complete waste of two good characters, as one went completely against his character, and the other can be summed up as 'plot mechanic insanity' which completely destroyed her character for the sake of a boss fight.
They couldn't... What they need to do is a direct sequel to Origins, well a sequel to Golems of Amorrak (sp?) I never played DA2, but I understand that it was happening concurrently with Origins supposedly.
So how is tranfering your saves going to work if it is a next gen title? It shouldn't be a problem for us PC gamers but sadly I don't see bioware adding adding a save transfer feature only to the PC version.
