Far Cry 3 'High Tides' DLC a PS3-exclusive

Upcoming add-on for Ubisoft's just-released action game brings two new co-op chapters in January 2013; no word on price or availability for other platforms.
The first expansion for Far Cry 3 will release exclusively for the PlayStation 3 version of the game in January 2013. Developer Massive Entertainment announced today through the PlayStation Blog that the game's High Tides downloadable content will add two new co-op chapters to the action-shooter.
These are Jailbreak and Redemption and will take place where the original six co-op chapters left off. "These are the gang’s final moments, and we’re really challenging ourselves to go all-out," the developer said.
Up for grabs in the High Tides expansion are new missions, "tougher fights," larger competitions, and "explosive moments unlike anything you've seen before." No price for the content was announced, and a Ubisoft representative was not immediately available to comment. It is also unclear if the content will be later made available for Xbox 360 and PC gamers.

1 Like I hate exclusive stuff with a passion. Every platform the game was released on should benefit. The game plays best on PC anyway and Ubi releases addon for crappy consoles? rrrrrrrrr!

(yes it is at par with every multiplayer ever, excluding cod aka bandwagon E-sport)
co-op.......=as buggy as the pc port to ps3
there was an embarrassing amount of bugs in this game, although it was so great im going to ignore them and say this dlc better be cheap and include an extra island for single player! (i can still dream of single player dlc dammit!)
going to enjoy DLC and the games while they last because when PS4 comes out its all down hill after that. Which I am not looking forward to at all.
Take your FarCry 3 exclusive DLC, it only seems fair since nobody will give Sony exclusive DLC for anything else.

5 Like @ell_xo @cluckmoo I like tthe PS# better for a few simple reason's.The first of witch is it being Blu-Ray capable.Second would probably The Sony online having a free alternative to Xbox Lives Monthly payments of course.And the last would probably be that even though Sony has made some poor Decisions when it come to marketing its just all around a better console for what my needs are out of a Media based platform and btw Fuck Windows 8...
2 Like How about they fix the numerous glitches in Co-op first, instead of shoveling out DLC (two missions can hardly be called an expansion) for it? The stupid "they look at you and then you get hurt, without them actually shooting" shit is just plain stupid. Not to mention the infinitely spawning bad-guy bits, and the numerous sound glitches. Hell, I had one mission with a pyro heavy just shooting into the air and humping a hillside.

People make me lol.... i bet over half of you read "The Sun" ... guess what? The news is more then just the headline... the headline is designed to entice you in to read the rest... so why people get enticed enough to comment, but clearly not enough to actually read tells me one thing...... most people here are idiots and find it easier to engage their mouth then their brain!

3 Like Im getting sick of game content being console and retailer specific. Its a shameless marketing decision that doesnt do anything other than punish 2/3 of your player base for absolutely no reason.

At first I was annoyed to hear the DLC would only be available on the worst possible platform - between my PS3, 360, and PC I play games on the PS3 only when I have to - but then I saw it's just a couple missions in the after-thought co-op no one cares about.

It makes me laugh to read comments from people that cannot take an opinion, and when someone states that they like one platform over another, everyone else gets up in arms. Makes for very entertaining reading.
4 Like Well of course the over priced internet ready blu ray player is getting exclusive dlc. I mean the core game is vastly INFERIOR to the Xbox 360's release. They've go to make it up with something. Sony should just go ahead and release the next playstation and retire the over priced internet ready blu ray player. It's such an embarrassment.

@ell_xo Lol really? I see nothing but PS3 advertisements where I live. And the PS3 is only a year ahead of the 360 with some technological positives and negatives too. They're seriously just about the same machine, which is why everything is released for PC/360/PS3 instead of Wii.

I played and finished it on my pc (mainly on med settings with some on high) and was suprised to see that my brothers ps3 version actually looked better then pc for a change!
I have a ps3 too, but game mostly on my pc.
1 Like @blakeney yeah, my PC isn't built for that stuff. i mostly play it for the RTSG's and stuff, but my buddy has it for the 360, and we compared what we both saw on each others systems and agreed ps3 looked better. which is a first. lol
2 Like The co-op campaign is a lot of fun and I have spent most of the last few days playing and replaying all chapters of the co-op story with friends .I am playing on the xbox 360 so it sucks that the initial dlc expansion to this campaign is only on ps3 .Ubisofft better make this available to xbox 36 and pc later .
3 Like wish co-op was for the single player campaign, liberating camps would be killer with a friend watching your back. then again haven't tried the co-op yet, taking a break after 40 hours of killer single player action.

1 Like Doesn't affect me. I Redboxed it and am glad.Enjoying the one playthrough, but still haven't found in longevity in it. Would've been a shame if I'd paid full price.
@SkytheWiz1 liberating all the camps is a lot of the fun. the story got kinda emo-swiss-cheezy-gorrific.
