Fortune Hunters' Club DLC program plundering Uncharted 3

Lol...'save' $ on upcoming DLC? I can't believe folks throw away $ on crap like this...I guess you can market anything by included the word 'savings' and people will eat it up. People are getting more naive by the second...one of the fools buying this crap could be someone you confide in

It's a simple choice really. If you like the multiplayer, then you are going to want to purchase the Fortune Hunters Club package. People are way too skeptical of these kind of things. Just inform yourself before any purchase, which should be common sense, and something you practice with any purchase you make in every aspect of your life. Not just videogames.

the kick here is if you are committed to their multiplayer experience. If not then pass. the nice thing about this game is the deep single and it has a good multi- I just hope they don't flip and go 3 hour single as a nod to having a "game" and the rest be multiplayer for the next one

I'm not surprised ND are going for DLC the same month of release. They have already filled a dual layer Blu-Ray and are trying to compress more on to it. Not 100% convinced on the club thing, will have to look into it more before passing judgment

Oh Naughty Dog, it's like you really wanted to prove you wasn't all that special so you copied the other devs bad trends and this is on top of that other announcement about Uncharted 3 using the Sony Pass. Gamers should feel conned with these clear money grabbing schemes but you know, it's a guy with a half tucked shirt and one liners so OF COURSE they'll forgive all. You know Metal Gear was better in every possible way and didn't pull this crap but but it's got Drake, the guy who hasn't developed his personality or overall story path since the first game except to become more of a joke spewing machine. Anyway I'm sure they'll love it.

This is genius! They can get people to buy dlc they might not had bought later. People will also buy this and feel obliged not to sell their game because of the new content coming that they paid for, so you stretch the play base for a longer period of time. Win-win for MOST consumers of the game and Naughty Dog. Bravo

There's something unsettling about asking people to buy something weeks or months in advance without even seeing it. How would that work for other products? Would you buy a movie ticket a month early? What if reviews later reveal it's a terrible movie? And what if you couldn't transfer or return your ticket after buying it?

I'm a huge Uncharted fan, but I'll probably pass. I'll be happy enough with the default maps and I can take $25 to www.gog.com and come out with three or four amazing PC games from the good ol' days. More maps and skins don't really have much pull for me. For those who've never tried it, though, Uncharted has really fun multiplayer. As great as the single-player campaigns are, the multi can be just as good once you get into it. A great mix of teamwork, gunplay, and mild stealth.

@Freezezzy - If it were another developer and not Naughty Dog I could see your concern. Naughty Dog has a good proven track record, and they haven't disappointed in the past so I don't have any concerns about paying in advance for future DLC releases. From different articles I've read and interviews I've watched they are definitely working on at least 5 DLC releases right now. As for developers and this trend, it's happening whether we like it or not. It's basically the same kind of crap shoot we take with anything like this. You've just got to go with your gut feeling about whether or not you think they'll deliver something worth the price in the end.

@Oldgun maybe that's the reason Metal Gear is going xbox/ps3? In these days of gamestop, companies need to recoup some of their loses. I don't agree with it, i think it sucks, but that's the reality of it all.

I remember MGS4 is the "ONLY" PS3 game utilizing the full capacity of the BluRay providing us the "complete" package, eventhough Konami could've very easily poured out DLC's considering the popularity of the franchise. It is sad what Naughty Dog is doing with DLC club thingy!! I definitely will buy the game for the single player experience, but sorry no MP!! Long Live the Old Gen...

I find DLC's a waste in most cases anyways, so I cant say i care.

And there we go. I was giving Microsoft and Epic games a load of grief the other week for doing this with Gears 3, and now Sony and Naughty Dog are doing it with Uncharted 3. I'm still buying the game, but you're having a laugh if you think I'm buying any of the DLC now. The gaming world is turning to crap with all this DLC nonsense. When we buy a game we expect the complete package, not some half-assed release where some of the content comes later. I'm seriouuuusly considering about getting out of gaming for the next gen if things head this way. It's bollocks :x

I hate DLC..apparently we all do but don't make this small dumb issue prevent u guys from buying this game...Remember we all are in this game for the awesome story and the mindless explosions....Multiplayer and add-on content is just an extra :P

I dont give a damm about some stupid dlc as long as i am able to play both the single player and the multiplayer...i dont need extra maps or characters to play online...and to everyone else, stop buying these overpriced dlcs...till we keep buying them, these guys will keep milking us, they are anyway charging us too much for the game and are forcing us to buy it new, so stop paying more for these gimmicks.

DLC in the same month of release?! comme on! if you alredy have it just add it to the game, you can make a DLC after 2 or 3 months.

I agree with @SuplexKirby , this generation is just about playing gamers for suckers... unfinished games with full price tag then epilogues, finishing touches with dlc stuff... Uncharted 2 was great game, truly GOTY, but if they start to play like others, UC3 will suffer... with these kind of games and devs, I appreciate MGS4 again and again...

I would have preferred to see SP dlc for this game. They should take a page out of R*'s book and have something like 'Undead Nightmare' for Uncharted- That would be worth pre-ordering!

Passes in video games = unnecessary Just make the game like games were made before without passes and you will have your profit.

Don't know about anyone else but I play, or at least up until now, play Uncharted for the single player, not the mp. So to me, this is a complete waste of $$. If they had SP content I'd be all over it.

4 multiplayer map packs? That means at least 8 maps right? 3 skin packs? $25.. That might be a really good deal.

Come on ...DLC already before it even launch? That sucks! Why not just add that in the original disc?! What a rip off!

Well, looks like it's GOTY for me. This is not a good trend (at least for me), but as long as enough folks keep paying for these DLC, companies will keep making them. One wallet talks louder than 100 comments on a forum.

@zombiePheonix72 I know it would be nice to get the 1st few dlc packs free. But I do not believe they were content slated to be in the retail game. I bet alot of the team has been hard at work on DLC for awhile now, since the game has been in the final stages for awhile I doubt they had all staff on it towards the end. @the_requiem I think you're hugely underestimating this game, if it's even close to what Among Thieves was. Not many gamers will be able to hold out even if they wanted to...

@skornedwarrior I see what you mean but it's different when the developers already have DLC ready before the initial release. It could be the time restraint but it would've been better if they'd just give it out for free.

@karenwen: Oh it WILL crash for sure. If it was the glut of games that brought about first one, it will be ill-conceived DLC that brings about next one. I am sure more and more folks will wait for GOTY editions, discounts on PSN/PS+ etc. instead of buying games new.

I think this seals it for me. I was on the fence about buying it new, and now I am sure I'll pick the eventual GOTY edition when it comes around. $40 for game and all DLC in one disc... yep, sounds like a deal.

I really have no problem with DLC, if it's not overpriced like COD maps are. DLC allows developers to continue to make content for games we love after the initial release. Although a freebie every now and then from games that sell well would be nice.....

I really hate this gen with a passion and probably will not buy future consoles. Last gen was the last good one.

Because DLC is an evil conglamorite creation and it just plain sucks ass...lost are the days when we had true add-ons for games, when they were called add-ons or expansions...not this money grubbing milk-fest.

Wow, and I was looking forward to this more than BattleField 3. I live in NZ and here they charge at least double the price for everything. At EBgames the price for the standard edition of UC3 is $130 so I'll probably have to pay $50-$75 for this. I could buy the ICO collection online for that price. I can't believe Naughty Dog would do this. This is something Activision would do. At least they don't have DLC planned for the same month as the release. How would you even pre-purchase it anyways? It'd better be on PSN because even if I get enough money for it, I won't buy it from a place like EBgames.
