Frontlines pushed back
THQ's multiplatform near-future shooter will cool its jets until January 2008.
Today, retired US military commanders told Congress that the Defense Department should prepare for a near-future conflict sparked by global-warming-reduced natural resources. Such a scenario also happens to be the storyline of Frontlines: Fuel of War, a forthcoming multiplatform shooter from THQ, which was delayed today. Coincidence?
Synchronicity aside, THQ CFO Edward Zinser said that the game would sidestep the increasingly crowded 2007 holiday season. "We have selected a January 2008 launch window for our new open-world shooter, Frontlines," he revealed during a postearnings analyst call. The game had been slated for release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 later this year, and is one of several original IPs the publisher is carefully scheduling.
Though he didn't give any reason for the postponement, Zinser did emphasize that THQ has full faith in the game and its developer, Kaos Studios. "We plan to support Frontlines and Stuntman with multimillion dollar marketing campaigns," he said. Kaos Studios was formed as an internal studio by THQ in 2006, and employs many former Battlefield 2 developers.
pushed back until 2008, sounds like the usual story here then.
The plotline is eerily on point...like an plotline from 24.
I can't wait to see what Trauma, the guys that originaly made DC are able to do free of DICE and EA.
this game seems promissing as well
that's a good thing for me....now I can get some $$$ to build a pc that can play this awesome game......anyways, as long as they make the game nicely and take their time and do it properly than its ok with me....

Damn, but I'm sure they have a good reason to delay the game. Just think of it this way with more time they can make this game better.
that sucks
Damn! I can't wait for this game any longer!
@legs1986 I totally agree with you. I'm looking forward to picking up MGS4 and Grand Theft Auto. This will be a bit easier on the pockets around the holidays and still let me enjoy both games for awhile first.
I've got more than enough to pickup in November as it is; I'm glad they're pushing it, smart move for the game to decrease its immediate competition (still gonna be an FPS shortly following Halo, never a good thing) but I'll probably pick it up now.
HardCor1981, I agree that its slow, but given this years performance of both Lost Planet and Crackdown, there is no doubt that a good game can outsell its expectations, especially if it isn't placed next to other holiday titles. WithHalo 3 is supposedly coming out this holiday season, many publishers are probably not wanting their unknown titles sitting next to it on the shelves. I played the heck out of Battlefield 2 on consoles, and hope that Kaos is able to improve their already fine game structure into something fresh. I have to admit that from what I have seen, Frontlines looks a little too familier....
Aren't they aware that January and Februrary are the slowest retail months of the year? This doesn't make good "Marketing" sense. Oh well...I would prefer a nicer polished game over a game that cut corners to hit a deadline.
I'm not too worried, I;m sure it's for the best.
noooo its delayed.
I'm sure they have there reasons to delay the game.
This is a growing trend...and I kinda dislike it.
Think about it...why would you want your FPS coming out at the same time as Halo 3, anyway? Frontlines does look like it will be pretty good, though.
As long as they take advantage of the increased development time to sharpen the gameplay that would be great. Hopefully, it isn't JUST to 'wait out' the crowded holiday season.
nice
Its got great potential
Dang that kinda sucks been wantiung to play that for awhile now..but thats cool though it gives them more time to make it even better than it already looks...good luck guys!
perfect, should come out right after i finish building my new pc! spore and frontline will be the first to play on it.
That and Spore... argh!
Has the potential to be a great game. Let's wait and see.
This is only a good thing, after all, there are way too many great games coming out this year.
:(
Dammit cant wait for this game to come one, bc it looks like it can be a great game...
Good, this way it will survive and gain some spotlight.
WHY! WHY! WHY! OOooo well COD4 should b around the cornner as well as BF Bad Company :)
damnit i've been so excited for Frontlines and now i have to wait a DAMN YEAR
Wow Tug that was cheesy. Anyways Once again another delay, more time for the dev to work on a greater game.
aww man, i have been lookin forward to this game... its gonna be like the first good xbox live game that offers at least 32 vs 32 players in one game... i was gonna ask for it for christmas lol, but it looks like thats a no no now =(
Kaos Studos ...isn't it kaos stud-I-os.
This game sou8nds pretty sweet. Can't wait to try it.
