Agree with the consensus. And like legba11 said, there has been almost no hype and only one news story. It's pretty much already official.

Since there has been NO hype for this game, I am assuming this was a generic fantasy RTS who bought the GOT liscence at the last minute and slapped a Westeros skin on their product. Odds of this game being any good are very low.

Teh books are terrific...the TV serries was very well done considering...this however...I have my doubts on.

Ride the wave, Cyanide!! This will probably be terrible. Regardless of how much respect I have/had for the series, I think it has gone downhill since its over-popularization.

Now while I will wait to see if the game is good to purchase, what I find interesting is that we are not exactly experiencing the events in the books per se. For those that are familiar with the books, the events that are covered in the game will be the first depictions of those events that we will see. Aegon conquering Westeros is a crucial event in the history of that continent, so seeing it portrayed in one way or the other is pretty awesome. So is the rise of the Others(Whitewalkers for those that watch only the tv series), so yes seeing those events depicted for the first time is quite cool. Now lets see if the execution is good, but I am a little skeptical.

Love the books, this will not do them justice.

@DAMSOG If I had the choice to play as a Lannister I personally would not mind doing so. Sure I hate Cersei, but I am a Tyrion fan, and I donot mind Jaime so much anymore.Now for the RTS if done right sure every houses would have their advantages. The Starks would have a few wolves, and they would be tougher soldiers, but lets not forget if you play Lannister, you would be extremely rich. They are the wealthiest house in Westeros, and that should count for something on the battlefield.

@HollowNinja The fourth book was some what weak, the fifth book made up for it. If you actually paid attention the playing field was completely changed. Your probably one of those many people who went on amazon and complained about the cliffhangers and how nothing supposedly happening, but in actuality there were several crucial moments and reveals in the books. Not everything has to be a big battle, more subtle moments can be devastating as well.

RTS ? I wonder what could your units be... 1. sex slaves; 2. Corrupted midgets; 3. Soon to be butchered animals; 4. Incestuous brothers; 5. Short sighted suicidal paladins....

I can't rightly see it NOT being flushed down the toilet.

Chucky cheese looking game SHAME!

I'm trying to imagine this not being f'd up but I just can't see it. Would be interesting if they could do it, kind of like Civilization set in the GoT universe.

Should be interesting, although the lack of information for this game makes me a bit skeptical. They have done almost nothing to promote this game, which is a bit strange. Only time will tell...

If you hate GoT and RTS why the hell are you commenting on the story? Why are you even reading it. I know everyone has their own opinions, but do you just like to see your post count raise or something?

Haven't seen anything about this game yet. Like Spahettificator said, hope they can incorporate the backstabbing and politics from the books. That's what Song of Ice and Fire is all about.

I know this is Gamespot, but I immediately thought Blu-ray. I shouldn't be disappointed, but I am.

The first three books are great, but the most recent two have actually been disappointments.

Great Show that I look forward to next season. Not so much looking forward to this game though.

Could be great if they manage to incorporate all the scheming and backstabbing that goes on in the books. Not too hopeful as it has a lot to live up to but I'll keep an eye on it in case it surprises me.

@AntiH3ro97 I think it's set before long before the books, so probably not.

Don't worry Antihero, I have the odd feeling the game won't be worth the purchase. We'll see though won't we.

Im wondering if this game will spoil the books, since I'm only on around page 200 of the first one and I really wouldn't appreciate ruining the story

It would make a smashing RPG but with Skyrim a scant few months away who would try to compete? If it's a RTS surely no-one would play as the Lannisters? Everyone would want to be a Stark with a big wolf at your side.

I love the series, and i hope they make this a good game. For the King of the North!!!! ;)
