GameStop opening 3,000 stores at midnight Black Friday

Speciality retailer opening thousands of its stores at 12:01 this Friday with the remaining shops to open at 5 a.m. local time.
Gamers looking for a deal this Black Friday may be happy to learn GameStop is opening 3,000 of its stores across the United States at 12:01 a.m. this Friday, November 23. The majority of the company's remaining stores will open for business at 5 a.m. local time on Black Friday.
A GameStop representative told GameSpot that the 3,000 stores opening at midnight on Black Friday include a mix of GameStop Kids and traditional stores.
GameStop also revealed some of its Black Friday deals, the first of which is an Xbox 360 250GB console bundle with Forza Motorsport 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II for $250.
The retailer will also hold a buy-two-get-one-free promotion on all pre-owned products on Black Friday, and will give away copies of the Wii version of Just Dance 3 with all purchases of Just Dance 4 for the Wii. In addition, GameStop will offer the Sophix 7" Android tablet for $80 and a pre-owned DSi XL also for $80.

@deliman Dude I just passed best buy and the line wraps around the building it's like a block long. People lining up for PS 3's at 200 bucks when they can buy it right now at bestbuy.com lol.

@Thermador446 That all depends on their stock. Somethings will sell out while other deals may expire at 10am. But usually the price doesn't justify the wait and lines for most
2 Like Everyone should do their part. Do not go to Gamestop, specifically on Black Friday, it could crush them financially.
I looked at their ad online and didn't see anything worth getting. Everything was about regular price. Some 2013 Sports games were $30, All the 3DS Mario games are regular price. I might stop by after I've hit all the other stores first.
6 Like Another store to add to my boycott list, as i won't be buying from stores that are opening way to early. Thanksgiving should be spent with your family not prepping a store so maniacs can do their shopping.
@Matcam89 Amen bro well said. Its sad how we as Americans have lost track of what thanksgiving really is! It started @ 5am a while back and now they took opening to 12am, next thing you know they wont even give their employees thanksgiving off!

Sell your games on craigslist instead of gamestop, gamestop likes taking advantage of kids that don't understand a game's $ worth, that's why they created Gamestop Kids!

2 Like @COPMAN221ISBACK Here's a funny story from working at Fry's in 06. I was the Mac supervisor in the computer dept... the DAY before Xmas a man comes up to the podium. He had a returned Ipod shuffle (from like 04 or 05) with a big returned sticker on it... he had just tried to return it but was out of the return period by a day or two. He comes back and starts bitching at me, threatening violence because "we ruined his gift to someone because the returned product didn't have the cap/lanyard in it." When the returned sticker clearly states "not all itemes may be in here..."
Totally flabbergasted by that experience. He bought a crappy, returned Ipod Shuffle (the kind that looked like a stick of gum, if i'm not being clear enough) and said WE ruined it by selling it to him incomplete.....
Xmas is bringing the WORST out in people, not the best like it should....
At least Gamestop is opening at 12 so their employees can still spend time with their family, unlike other retailers.

they make it like your buying something at Costco...
you have to usually buy a huge bundle in the $100-$200 range
& that is basically their deal...

I've worked a black friday at Fry's.... it was one of the worst experiences of my life. a 21 hour shift and I didn't really get a nice thanksgiving... No one should be running to get a cheap laptop at 4 in the morning...
There are probably about 10 to 15 thousand gamestop employees that will not get a thanksgiving, or at least... not a proper one. And those pissed off, disgruntled employees will SURELY be giving the BEST customer service possible....
This is purely corporate greed, Target and Wal-Mart leading the way. I can't believe Black Friday will start on thursday at 8 PM for some stores (like target and Wal-mart).

I say "supposed" because, well, this is xmas time and everyone talks a big game about "good will towards men" and yet we have ppl getting trampled for 20 dollar dvd players... that's what I was referring to. The irony of xmas, that its supposed to bring the best out in ppl but in the end it's bringing out the worst.
1 Like @quantumtheo Black Friday is the most important day for our economy, especially since we're trying to turn it around. And it's not so much as breaking up a family for holidays as it is people going to work because they have bills to pay and gifts to buy their family. It's an easy day to get those hours and make some money so that in January you're not behind trying to play catch up. And since these stores don't open until Thursday night, that's plenty of time to eat dinner with your family, take a nap and then head off to work. And so your answer to a recession is not to spend money and go deeper and deeper. Also, the majority religion of the U.S. may be christianity, but not everyone is a christian. Hell, only 10% of those christians faithfully practice it and so they will be home with their families and that's great. But not everyone can be afforded that luxury.

So much for family, I end up running all day trying to make both sides happy - which never works, someone is always pissed that you didn't spend enough time with them, then after running all day you get to go to work on Friday for 10 hours. Ps- I just did a Thanksgiving last Saturday to make my wife and her family happy. So 1 down and 2 more to go - I love the F-ing Holidays!!!
Dude I'm married for 16 years with a huge family on both sides. Every year we pick one house and everyone gathers there. I have crazy family members that I don't see as often but on thanksgiving we all get tgether. it's a good feeling and the kids love it.
@COPMAN221ISBACK @quantumtheo That's the problem, I DON'T get to be home with family, we have to run all over to see all the families,( its something you have to do when you get married.)So you end up spending a good part of the day on the road pleasing family instead of actually enjoying the holiday. So thus I would rather work and get paid time and a half, plus it is usually so slow around here the day before and after the holidays. .

No I understood what you were saying. Thanksgiving IS about family. I'm saying those working retail should know they will be working BF. I do think it's getting ridiculous though starting at 8 Thursday night.
