Gears of War: Judgment pirates facing 'vigorous action'

Blah, blah, blah. While I am not a fan of pirating, I know several people happily playing this game online right now, and they will continue to do so after they are "banned". The pirates always win unfortunately.

Ever since the fall 2012 update you xbox is always online even if you sign in with a non live gamertag. Don't believe me? Sign out of your live gamertag and sing in with a non live one then notice the adds still flooding your dashboard. So unless you have a phat 360 or a hardwired slim they can always check up on you. Let the ban wave begin :)

Normally, pirates.are smart enough to not go online when they're playing a pirated version of a game. Those must be the really really dumb ones.

I am against the DRM "feature", online passes and other piracy countermeasures because I like  complete games and to have their ownership, but besides that, they sure have to make money from their business, don't they ? Don't we love games ? Once that is true I am sure we have to support the companies that produce them and  PAY for their work, infrastructure, the thousands of professionals that work hard to deliver amazing games to us.  That is just fair, It is ridiculous  even just mention it.  How would you feel if you had a  job, worked your a** off the whole month and were  not paid ? Cannot pay $60,00  for the game that have just released ? Well, you just have to wait until the price drop or sales or pick older games , there are tons of games at discount that delivery as much thrill and fun as the latest ones.

But but but..... we all know only pc is the only platform that has pirates... lmao

Do these corporate people (and for that matter some of the commenters here) even realize how HUGE the market for piracy is on the Console market at this point in their life cycle? Its become so easy and commonplace that these threats are like pissing into wind blowing it back into your face you look stupid and no ones scared.

No they won't be playing it with Xbox live these people have not been using your overpriced internet service for a long time now MS and they won't start now they will be playing their pirated copy of GoW on a modded Xbox offline like they always do or even with a Xbox emulator on their PC.

I'm not condoning it but this kind of lame response is pathetic from a corporation and shows how out of touch they are that they think this will do squat and at most all they'll do is use this as an excuse to shove some more hassle DRM in for the people who do purchase the games legally.

It wouldn't surprise me if those pirates game mainly on the PC, and then pirate on XBOX 360 for exclusives only. Pirates will always be pirates.

I've played it. I'm very disappointed and I'd like a refund. Not of my money - which I did not spend, but of the bandwidth I wasted playing it. Bandwidth and time...

Microsoft has also promised that tomorrow they will take vigorous action to prevent the tide from coming in.

They'll have the same success as with this.

I see multiple persons theorizing that Microsoft purposely released this 'bootleg' version (I refuse to call it 'piracy' due to conflation with, you know, _actual pirates_, who still roam the world's oceans)  under false colors as a 'marketing aid'... that to me seems silly because if evidence proving such ever surfaced, all actions they take against people who circulate and/or play it become legally null and void (I think the term used is 'entrapment').  xhawk27's suggestion of deliberately releasing a poisoned version also would never be approved by anyone sane: the blowback would not be in the least desirable.

Lastly, I don't recall the following question answered anywhere; perhaps someone more enlightened could share knowledge on the matter: individual A buys a second-hand console; what recourse does he or she have when it is discovered to be blacklisted because of its previous owner's activities, which were _not_ disclosed in any way, shape, or form in the course of the transfer?
