@ManB3arP1g The reason for this is because the GoW Collection wasn't released here in New Zealand (and I presume Australia too). All it has extra to the ultimate addition in NA is that it has the GoW Collection and 2 more bonus skins, that's all. Hope this helps.
Sony's Greek mythology-inspired sequel gets maximum MA 15+ rating in Australia; Ultimate Edition priced at A$248.00.
The God of War franchise has long been known for pushing the envelope when it comes to violence and nudity. Previous GoW games have had you stab a cyclops through the eyeball, gut a centaur, and even spend some special time with scantily dressed ladies.
The latest game in the series--God of War III--looks like it'll maintain the gore levels, which had some Aussie gamers worried the game wouldn't make it past Australia's strict classification censors. There's good news to report on that front, however, with the latest Classification Board rulings showing God Of War III has earned itself an MA15 + rating. The consumer advice on the packaging cites "Strong violence, sexual references and nudity" as the offending content.
GoW3 picks up where God of War II left off, with angry dude Kratos riding Gaia's back on a mission to destroy Olympus. While Sony has been quiet on the story, players can expect an epic battle between the Titan and the Gods to take place.
In other GoW3 news, EB Games Australia has priced the God of War 3: Ultimate Edition at a whooping A$248.00. The Ultimate Edition comes with the God of War Collection (which is the original PlayStation 2 games remastered in 1080p HD), exclusive PlayStation Network content, an art book, soundtrack, and postcards.
God of War 3 is currently slated for release in March, so stay tuned to GameSpot AU for more details. For more on Australia's classification regime, check out our R18+ FAQ.
Sony Computer Entertainment of "AMERICA" why isnt selling here? thats bullcrap all well, cant have everything i suppose
Yeah it sounds awsome. But I think they released the GOW collection prematurely, as those who bought that collection, will be hard pressed to buy this version. Also, on pushsquare.com, it shows a picture of Pandoras box along with the set. Wonder why no mention of it here? Oh well.
LOL @ Everyone ranting about this... Bottom line is if you can't afford the game don't buy it ? Personally i earn enough to be able to buy this game a few times over. I know... hooray for me right ? But i think the price is fair when you consider the absolute awesome box it comes in. GoW 1 and 2 upscaled to HD and all the other extra content. Personally im a sucker for anything Collectors Edition so this is definately a must buy for me. For all the ranters out there, do you self a favour and buy the standard edition and keep your selves happy. While the rest of us who can afford it buy what we want to keep our selves happy. End.
@terror_ninja new zealand sucks. actually wait.. new zealand doesn't suck, i think it's just you that has given me that impression. you suck. oh, god of war sucks too.
thank buggery for that!! I woulda gone on a man hunt for that bloke who keeps shaftin games! Ive ordered the trilogy edition! I thik its Pretty good Value! And i own GOW/2 already! It doesnt look cheap and dodgy like Batman AA, why gods did i get that!? So pumped for this tho, only prob is FFXIII is out 2 weeks b4 it >
$250 is a huge amount, but games are $100 here anyway. $120-150 for a Collector's Edition isn't uncommon, and considering you're effectively getting a collector's edition of a new game and two recent games... Yeah. Pretty predictable.
@terror_ninja Over 250,000 words in the english language and that's the best you can do? Keep trying, creampuff. You'll reach that star someday.
@terror_ninja Here's the point, genius. NZ is no more considered down under than Antarctica because Australia shadows your country. When someone mentions Asia, do you think of China or Kazakhstan first? Exactly. Don't blame Americans---it's Crocodile Dundee's fault. But thank you for the lesson on Antarctica. I had no idea it was uninhabited and therefore video game-less. Now I know.
wat exactly does this ultimate edition do? does it tuck u in at night? pay the rent? make phone calls? do the laundry....? no thanks
I have already preordered the Ultimate Edition.. no way im passing this up ! It's just to damn tempting !!! Can't wait :D
@mimicus Antarctica has nothing to do with this, Antarctica belongs to the UN and I highly doubt any one bothers to make a video game rating system specific to Antarctica. The continet is used for science and not video games. Dumbass
The pandora's box case for the ultimate edition does look pretty sweet. But the game on its own is to expensive for me, so no thanks xP A boy can dream.
That $248 price tag should at least include a rub n tug from one of the rescued princesses in the game.
@terror_ninja What about Antarctica, smarty-pants? Don't discriminate, lest you be labeled a hypocrite. Ya dig?
$248 is outrageous for what you get. For that price I would expect a replica dagger that he uses, not made out of medal probably but some material that makes it look good with a little stand for it. But an art book that I will look at once or twice, a soundtrack I don't care about, and postcards? I am not even counting the GoW collection because who, that is willing to spend $250 on GoW3, isn't already going to have this before it comes out?
So... that is too expensive... and I already got (and finished) the Collectors edition so I will have to suffice with the Original Game thanks :P
This is ignorant of you americans.... the term "down under" does not only include Australia which is the porblem country, New Zealand - Which is not a part of Australia - never has issues with games being to much to handle in fact most games that get banned in Australia appear here with a "Banned in Australia" chunk of text on it just because we like to rub it in the Aussies face. So you stupid Americans stop refering to only Australia as "down under" because New Zealand is here to and we are in fact further south than Australia Further more put New Zealand on a friken map already in just about every movie or media image that comes out of America has no New Zealand on it. Maybe one day your ignorance will bite you in the ass.
when i saw this i was like gawd dang get me sum god of war please NO NO mouths on face for a reasons
I hate our classification board and our attorney generals department. It's like waiting for mummy and daddy to tell us that it's ok to go to the party tonight. I would have bought God of War III from Play-asia anyway. What a slight relief it is to know that I could go to the shop and buy it here in OZ now. Still. Michael Atkinson's days are getting shorter :) Soon he'll be out of his seat in parliament and back in church talking to his pointless god.
@bendall: I agree is starting to get TOO gory for my taste.. I have always play weird/blood games, being a horror fan.. but lately games are getting quite strong on the gore aspect... then again that WOULD NOt stop me.. The story and gameplay on this game are just to awesome... Already reserved my Collector edition in NA, with my beauty "pandora box" ....
