@pav50 That's because the "Duty Heads" are lemmings. To paraphrase Jeremy Clarkson, if you put "Call of Duty" on a plate of sick they will line up to buy it. This is typical GameSpot. God of War III does some pretty good numbers and they always have put the adendum on "Oh but it's still not that good!". Then the groupthinkers latch on and start saying "yeah, it's not that good". Before you know it gets repeated enough times and opinion BECOMES "fact", and the truth is lost. GameSpot, fair and balanced.

GOW3 looks like a great game, but i just read the news on the 360 page that the heavily critized MW2 dlc sold 1 million copies in the first 24hrs

has the everlasting war between machshot and the truemagusX1 over?? i personally think you should become friends guys because both of you are hardcore fans(don't like the word fanboy, it's so annoying) but the thing is that machshot is a mass effect fan and turemagusX1 is a GOW fan and i really think you should talk on MSN or something and criticize each other all day since that out of every 4 or 5 posts i see @truemagusx1 or @machshot which means that you two spend so much time on the internet especially you truemagusx1 because you @almost everyone; anyway i don't know why there should be a fights over consoles?? we gamers play with games not consoles so no harm when you want to purchase a console for a certain game(s)..me i'm a PS3 owner but i'd like to go right now and buy a 360 because of splinter cell convection. keep together guys

@ cactusman1990 - I agree. GOW in the "Big in Japan" article is doing ok, but it's not in the top selling title or "runner up" in Japan. Although in the West, it should rank alittle higher.

PS3 has 11 million users to xbox's 18 million users. Decent sized margin between them but there are more PS3 owners now than you'd think.

only thing holding back its sales numbers is it's console. :( i'm sure it's a great game, but the ps3 user base still isn't that large. i know it's selling very well in japan, but i'm not sure the japanese are into this type game.

the first two games did 8mil combined lets face it guys as great as the game is the sales wount reflect that its just too hardcore its not for the mass market

Why is it no one on here can ever just talk about the game and leave it at that? Instead they have to take it to the next level and take shots at each others grammar and the whole "fanboyism" issue. @ Incubus420: Did you play U2 and the original? If you had then you should easily be able to tell why U2 was far better than the original. The sequel surpassed the original in every aspect; Graphics, Story, Set Peice moments, Scale, acting, and it added Mulltiplayer! Other than HD, what did GOW3 do that the first two did not? Dont take this as a GOW bash, because it is a great game, but the statement you made simply makes no sense...

I think 1 million is just North America. it seems small to be worldwide figures

@banana23man Well first and foremost, anyone who tries to counter Machshot is not bad in my back in the least! :D Second of all I still disagree with your points made earlier, the difference though is I respect you, not Machshot. But as for Mature centric games being a smaller based, thats not true. Like I said look at the sales for MW2, GTAIV and Halo 3, those are mature centric games and are amongst the best, so I really donot think the mature base is small by anymeans. But I do see where your getting at in your other points though.

@TheTrueMagusX1 i guess you misunderstood my point. i was trying to say that 1 million is a very good number for a series that has a relatively smaller user base, and intended for mature audience. I mean, for games like FF13, it's not a surprise that it sold so much. the advertising campaign was huge. we saw the first trailer way back in 2006. It's a multiplatform game and almost every one of its predecessor was a major hit. Not only that, it's a game that appeal to a wider audience (esp female and younger gamers) I was merely trying to counter MachShot's point about how FF13 is going to beat GOW3 because it didnt sell 1 mil within 24 hours. btw, i'm a big fan of GOW. it's the reason why i got my ps3 in the first place, which i have to say is one of the best choice i've ever made :D

Come on. Grow up. Just because someone doesn't agree with you that a certain game was better than another one doesn't make you right and the other person wrong. GoW3 and Mass Effect 2 were both fantastic games in my opinion. I was glued from start to finish with both of them. My personal favorite this year so far has been Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain blew me away and in my opinion it set itself above the rest with it's gameplay and storytelling. But who is to say that another game isn't going to just blow us away? What if say...Mafia II is a fantastic game with an oscar worthy story? (theoretically speaking). To say a game deserves game of the year this early.....a little soon.

@banana23man Also if you recall the battle with Zeus, when the Titian Gia showed, Zues said Kratos failed " maybe you should have choose the other". They never explain who the other is So its more than left open to a sequel.

I finished it and returned it for full refund on RDR. It was a great game but not much to do afterward so I feel I got a great deal at eb.

I think its funny you guys are arguing about such nominal things like this. Each one of you are entitled to your opinions and views so SHUT UP about someone elses opinions. For cripes sakes people....go paint balling or something. Personally I think this game is great because they have kept the same basic concept throughout the series. It feels to me that I have played one game on three disks. Its the same thing over and over again but it is truly fun and exciting to see which god I get to kill next and how I get to do it.

@TheTrueMagusX1 It's broken into four parts - the universe, the storyline, the user experience, and then all of the sci and fi put together. Look it up in the "Media" at masseffect.com if you don't believe me. I never said anything about the length of the documentary. Wow. Epic failure on your part.

One of the best games I have played in 2010. I will remember the epic moments of GoW 3 for years to come. The designers, programmers and artists are awesome. Hera's Garden had one of the best puzzles in recent games. All of the boss fights were mind blowing. Helios and Hermes boss-fights could have used more gameplay sequences. God of war is an Epic game.
