GTA: Vice City hits PSN next week

Rockstar Games bringing 2002 open-world action game to PlayStation Network Jan. 29 in US and Jan. 30 in EU for $10; other classics to follow.
In December, Rockstar Games said Grand Theft Auto: Vice City would come to PlayStation Network "soon." Now, the company has chosen exact dates for its release across the world: January 29 in North America and January 30 in Europe.
GTA: Vice City will be available on PSN as part of the PS2 Classics collection at launch for $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99.
In addition, Rockstar told gamers to "stay tuned" for more classic Rockstar games on the way for PSN in the weeks and months ahead. These were not named.

1 Like I actually took out my PS2 copy of the game and played through it for the first time in years. It's still as good as I remembered.
Sure, the mission structures can be unbelievably hard at times and the draw-distance is terrible. But those were issues were always there, even back when Vice City was new. And before anybody mention the graphics, the graphics of the GTA games from the PS2 era were never great.
bought GTAIII and it looks terrible. Hardly worth buying. Why no HD touch up? Did the IOS versions get any polish?
@themza72521 the iOS version look really good on iPad 3rd gen Retina display. Better than PS2. Though I play mostly on iPhone 5 and it looks really good on the phone too.
I've been playing the anniversary edition on iOS. I am definitely considering getting it from PSN also. I'll probably get San Andreas first since I already have GTA 3 and VC for iOS. Maybe they will have a bundle for all 3 on PSN for discount later this year... I might wait to buy to see if that's what they decide to do.
if its just the PS2 version , there is no point, anyone can get Vice City for a fraction of that.
if this was a HD remastering of sorts, I would be interested, but given the fact that I already have the original Xbox version (which looks better than this anyways) , there is really no point in this.
heck , you can get the PC version on steam (which with the resolution settings, draw distance etc, will look like the HD remastering will have) for less.
Vice City is my favorite Grand Theft Auto game. Glad it is coming to PS2 classics. Even though i still have the actual PS2 game.
If they would have made these HD versions or added trophies then I probably would have bought all three. I already have these games for PS2.
1 Like Finally!! been waiting for this for about half a year, I was hoping Vice city would be released before gta 3 when it was announced. Vice city is one of my top fav GTA's
£7.99 is a lot when you take into consideration that its only £2.99 for the game on the iPhone which would have taken more effort to port across

Awesome, give us more awesome ps2 games please. Like kingdom hearts and drakengard, if you aren't gonna release it in HD anyway.

@SUPERGOD17 There is a GTA Vice City for PSP, you can play it on Vita. Where did you get the idea that FFX HD is gonna be released on Vita? I'd like to know if that's really true.

@snaketus It must be because of taxes or something. Besides EU PSN has a LOT more content than US' so you pay a little more, and can get a lot more than us.
@snaketus actually 9.99 in euros is $13.36 USD and 7.99 GBP is $15.77 in USD so we are getting it cheaper.

Kinda cool for people who dont have an original PS3 and have an itch for the old games, but like most others, I'd rather have a HD version with trophies or even just so news on V.
Hey Rockstar, don't waste your time on these old games anymore. Do something better and port that Red Dead Redemption for PC already!!!
1 Like @Winchester01 "These old games" are worth the time. They're classics. Though I personally don't give a damn about PSN, and Red Dead Redemption is likely on everyone's "Top 10 games that need to be ported to PC" list. Even Dark Souls managed to get a PC port. Namco-Bandai had a game ported to PC before Rockstar did. That's just plain sad.

As opposed to just releasing them as "PS2 Classics" and changing nothing.
@StinkySkunkGirl I fail to see how simply increasing the display resolution of a game consumes significant development resources. Not talking about enhancing any of the textures or models or anything, just making them look a bit less blurry and pixelated on my HDTV.
There are already PC and Android/iOS ports of these games that run at varying resolutions.

Neither of those options should be able to waste so much time and money that they can't have a team port over Red Dead Redemption to PC. They're just being stupid, stubborn, and most of all, short-sighted.
1 Like I loved these games but I am pretty sure that at any price I won't be playing them again. When they were originally released, these games were unbelievably fun and advanced. The downside was that the graphics weren't very good and the games were extremely buggy. It was easy to overlook at the time because there weren't any other games of this caliber.
Like others have said and probably will continue to say, "These games have not aged well."

Was the PSN San Andreas port as bad as the XBL one?? I couldn't even play it with those graphics...
Ah yes let's get rid of bc between ps3 and ps2 so we can sell more digital ps2 games. What took so long.
2 Like I'm surprised they haven't released GTA3, GTAVC & GTASA as a HD trilogy, since that seems to be a common trend these days.
Already own the complete series. I really don't see any reason to get this unless you have never played it before. The price is right anyways.
