Emmy Award nominee Normand Corbeil passes away at 56 after six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Award-winning Heavy Rain composer Normand Corbeil has died, Quantic Dream said today in a statement posted to its website. Corbeil's first job with the company was co-composing the music for Indigo Prophecy. He served as the sole composer for Heavy Rain and had begun work on the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls. He was 56.
"Normand was not only one of the most talented composers of his generation; he was a formidable person, kind and humble," Quantic Dream said in a statement.
Corbeil's son Laurent told Polygon that his father died Friday after a six-month fight with pancreatic cancer.
Corbeil was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003 and again in 2006 for his music composition on Hitler: The Rise of Evil and Human Trafficking, respectively.
His Heavy Rain score earned him the top music accolade at the 2011 British Academy Video Games Awards for Original Music.
May God Bless Him. I Will Always Miss Him. When i Will Hear Heavy Rain OST Then i Will Always Remember Him. He was Really One of The Best Composer.
RIP Mr Corbeil.. your contribution in our lives will not be forgotten..
and Gamespot, please try to be a bit more compassionate with your titles when it comes to such matters..
I don't remember hating the music in Heavy Rain... I hated everything else so I guess that's like a compliment.
Could you have a less compassionate title?
Anyways, that man had some fantastic talent. Rest in peace.
As soon as a doctor tells you you have pancreatic cancer, you know your run is up.
I really enjoyed the soundtrack in Heavy Rain and it heightened the emotion a lot so I respect him for his good work. I just hope one day we can beat cancer for good and losing loved ones to that horrific illness will be a thing of the past. RIP Normand and any other soul who was taken by Cancer.
@warhawk-geeby Glad I'm not the only one to think that when I saw the headline. It's offensive. Shame on you GS!
article title is " Heavy Rain composer dead" doesn't anyone else have a issue with the title of this article?
why does this article use "dead" in title. The article should say title "sadly passed away". where is the respect when people use the word dead in this article?
@sam628 The news is supposed to be objective. The news should just be delivered as it happened as if a robot reported it and leave the emotional response to the readers.
@sam628 How is "dead" disrespectful? Seriously. He is dead. It's a fact. Sugar coating the truth by adding more syllibles to the fact won't make it more respectful.
@sam628 11 dead in gas explosion accident.
There, I hope that explains it. This man did not "pass away", his life was claimed by a vicious disease, and he died as a result. 56 is no age to go
RIP, may your music continue to stir the hearts of many.
