Rockstar confirms megastorm knocked out power at company's NYC office and now hopes to show new trailer "soon"; new art and preorder bonuses revealed.
Mighty megastorm Hurricane Sandy not only is impacting Call of Duty and Guitar Hero, but also Grand Theft Auto V. In an update to Rockstar Games' website, the company confirmed that a second trailer for the upcoming open-world game has been delayed due to power outages at the firm's New York City office.
"We are working on a second trailer--unfortunately Hurricane Sandy has derailed our plans somewhat but we will have something to show soon," reads a line from the statement. "It's hard to be precise as we have no power whatsoever in our New York office. We hope everyone else in affected areas is doing okay."
Rockstar also confirmed that preorders for GTA V will begin November 5, and it appears some of the game's preorder incentives have leaked. Images posted to All Games Beta suggest Rockstar will offer a keychain image viewer (below) through which players can get a closer look at some of the game's locations. Additional promotional material for GTAV reveals these new game world locations, including the Vespucci Canals, Zancudo River, and Vinewood Hills.
Lastly, the same site also acquired new high-resolution art for GTAV rumored to be offered as an additional preorder incentive. The art shows off scenes of Los Santos, including a woman being arrested (above) and a man holding back a fierce-looking dog.
@Borrizee Yeah, Earth's a bitch like that.
Good thing I don't care about trailers at all seeing how they almost always mislead you or look far better than the actual game itself. I don't need to see a trailer for a game I already know is going to be good. Also, we don't even really need trailers with the internet trying to spoil everthing else for us.
What would happen if an unreleased, high budget game got cancelled weeks before it's release if it was all about a "fictional" tragedy (natural disaster, war, terrorist attack) because the "fictional" event actually happened. That would suck.
I don't get why people are saying preorders are bad and scams. If you're going to get the game no matter what, I don't see why the benefits of preordering are bad.
I love this article , very love it, i knew it that were coming out for 2013, cause other crappy games coming out before the new year ends. sounds very dumb but actually is very truth..
@singhellotaku They really aren't a scam...just entirely unnecessary... they just ensure you buy at a particular location...
You have been able to preorder since yesterday. At GameStop at least... I went in today and preordered.
Not sure why sites are continually stating preordering begins Nov. 5th. It's already started. If you want a poster and the viewfinder better go in soon.
@Doolz2024 Your not suppose to say anything till Monday. Because most Gamestops didn't get many viewers and posters and officially pre orders aren't suppose to start till Monday.
So gamespot posted this even after gamespot staff member Giancarlo pretty much said it was pointless when I brought it up. Wow!
Anyone notice the woman being arrested is wearing a love fist t shirt, i'd say that is a hint to this essentially being vice city 2. As they were key element halfway through original vice city
@nchakall or maybe they gave her a love fist shirt because it's familiar to most gta players. this is essentially gta5 and is not set in vice city
sorry for people that was hurt and injured and the homes and places destroyed in Sandy.....
when can we have the trailer? i cant wait for this game
The first trailer was released on November 2, 2011. If it weren't for the storm the second trailer would have been released on November 2, 2012. That would have been cool.

@malcolmreynold5 You bought a gun?!
This game is going to be so awesome, IF, the gunplay is just like Max Payne. I hope is has the same bullet hole decals like in Max Payne.
My thoughts to all those affected by the storm, I seen clips on the news it looked terrible. I hope Rockstar gets up and running soon and gives the gaming masses their cookie. Can't wait to read the Game Informer spread on it.
Wow that must suck for R* although I'd expect a huge operation like the one there running to have a few generators.
Not a big deal. The game does look awesome though. Even more detailed then GTA IV. I can only imagine what Rockstar will do on the NEW game consoles when they are released. Hopefully they will hold of on RDR 2 for the new consoles.
@blackace I think it's safe to say this is the last title we'll see from Rockstar this gen.
