Iron Man, Despicable Me producers behind Angry Birds movie

David Maisel, John Cohen bringing 3D CGI feature film based on Rovio's bird-flinging series to theaters during summer 2016.
The Angry Birds movie will hit theaters during summer 2016, Rovio Entertainment announced today. Iron Man producer David Maisel is attached as executive producer, with Despicable Me producer John Cohen also on board in a producing role for the untitled 3D CGI film.
The Angry Birds film will be produced and financed entirely by Rovio Entertainment with no help from an outside studio. This will allow the company to "retain full creative control while creating innovative entertainment at the highest level of quality," the company said in a statement. The Angry Birds film marks Rovio's first foray in the movie business.
Prior to his work with Illumination Entertainment/Universal Pictures on Despicable Me and Hop, Cohen was vice president of production at Twentieth Century Fox Animation. There, he worked with Greenwich, Connecticut-based Blue Sky Studios on its major films including Ice Age, Robots, and Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who.
"I've personally spent countless hours playing the Angry Birds games over the last few years, which I can now happily justify as research for the movie," Cohen said in a statement.
Maisel is a former chairmen of Marvel Studios and served as executive producer on Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and the aforementioned Iron Man and its sequel, Iron Man 2.
No information regarding the Angry Birds film plot has been announced, nor has a director or possible voice cast.

2 Like I don't care if the world's greatest director is working on this movie, won't make it any less lame or over milked.
2 Like Angry Birds are a fad. By 2016 they will be irrelevant in culture, and the movie will bomb even if it is well done (and that is a very bid "if")
Oh, this sure seems like a good idea. They're going to make a movie with no speech, no story to build on (or ruin for that matter) and no experience in film making. An Angry Birds Star Wars parody movie would be better.

Seriously, the games have little to no plot as is. And this movie not even being made by an actual movie studio but rather the game's developers. It looks like it'll be trying to sell based more on hype and name than anything else. There's two things here that'll utterly kill its movie potential, especially the latter.
Plus, its Angry Birds. Its just the next fad in the casual games market, such as the Sims and others before it. (Yes, I know people still play the Sims, but it's not as big as it used to be).
Will anyone still have an interest in Angry Birds 3 years from now. Getting old already IMO.

You know it's going to be stupider than shit, yet it will do well in the box office. Why you ask? My answer is idiot America. Also, why in the hell is it going to take them 3+ years to make it?
@tightwad34 The movie is CGI and in 3D; that's going to take some time. I do believe the three Toy Story movies took a couple years each; the first one maybe a bit longer. CG movies take longer to produce.

Why the hate and rage? I'd say this is perfect material to make movie because:
1. No gamer cares about the game or story, so no fear of "messing it up".
2. There is not much story "in-game" so there is lots they can do with the movie.
3. There is lots of brand recognition, making it potentially biggest gaming movie ever.
For those wondering what movie could be about, think Bug's Life.
