MapleStory Adventures serving 1 million players
Facebook version of side-scrolling MMO game still at open beta stage.
With the huge success of the MapleStory franchise on the PC, it's only logical for developer Nexon to spread it onto the Facebook platform. The social network spin-off MapleStory Adventures looks to have been received well, with more than 1 million players within the two weeks of the game's open beta phase, according to a recent Nexon press release. At this point, the app has 1,261,046 monthly active users.
The game itself is a browser-made version of the 2D-perspective massively multiplayer online action role-playing game. Next to the game's stylized aesthetics, this spin-off features the ability to invite a user's Facebook friends to complete quests with them. Previously, CEO of Nexon America Daniel Kim stated that the company sees the social network site as a promising market for future Nexon products.
Other role-playing game franchises that have taken a turn into the social network space include BioWare's Dragon Age (Dragon Age Legends) and Square Enix's Final Fantasy (Knights of the Crystals). Currently, the former has 352,330 monthly active users while the latter has 107,403 monthly active users.
HP said it perfectly, for some reason once you start playing you just have a hard time stopping. Looking back though, there really wasn't anything special about it. I did like the whole 2d look though.
Maplestory is so freaking pathetic. It's ridiculous to see people throwing their lives away on this bullcrap.
Maplestory was actually never good, it was just addicting. I still find myself playing that game sometimes now. Besides they ruined the game with cygnus knight, it's basicly the same as the other classes just a little bit different.
That and party quests are COMPLETELY dead now, which was one of my favorite things about the old MS, so it's 2x harder to make friends.
After Cygnus Knights were added in MS, I just stopped caring. It started becoming too different. Then they had to completely invert everything by making Big Bang. I know a lot of people liked Big Bang, but it just ruined it for me (besides the lightning-fast leveling up).
Never touched a MapleStory game in my life, nor understand the hype surrounding it... Is it good?
yea...Maplestory is out of my list..waiting for GW2
MapleStory is dead now... :(
used to be my fav now its not tht great
Maplestory isn't the same anymore.
Aaaand not a single **** was given that day.... (First post :P)
