Electronic Arts announced today that it has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring Danger Close's new shooter Medal of Honor Warfighter and upcoming Osama Bin Laden hunt movie Zero Dark Thirty together. The publisher will release a multiplayer map pack based on the movie for Warfighter the week of December 17, in conjunction with the film's release, with a portion of the map pack sales going to army charities.
EA said will will donate $1 from every Zero Dark Thirty map pack (known as The Hunt map pack in Europe) sold for a total of at least $1 million given through its previously announced Project Honor campaign. This effort sees the publisher giving to nonprofit veterans organizations.
The Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition includes the Zero Dark Thirty DLC. Those who preorder Medal of Honor Warfighter will be automatically upgraded to the limited edition, and are also granted access to next year's Battlefield 4 beta.
The Zero Dark Thirty map pack includes two new multiplayer maps set in real-world locations, the first of which takes place in Pakistan's Darra Gun Market, an illegal arms marketplace. The second map is set in Pakistan's far north Chitral region, where Bin Laden was believed to be residing for a period.
According to EA COO Peter Moore, the partnership with Sony Pictures is two-fold. The executive explained it will serve as a means to honor the sacrifices the soldiers and their families have made, and also to bring gamers closer to the "greatest manhunt our world has ever seen."
Medal of Honor Warfighter is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 23 in North America and October 26 in Europe. The game follows a group of US Tier 1 operators as they take the fight to terrorists around the world in locations like the Philippines and Somalia.

I don't like the sound of this. I don't even like the game.
But I might as well just buy it for the sake of charity. Charity for the serving men and women of USA or Israel or EU or Russia or UK and maybe The Phillipines even though I don't even live in any of those countries.
but hey, charity is always a good when it means reliefs for army families.
I just hope the money won't be used for funding armed conflicts.
@cfstar Which part, donating proceeds to the military?
The title of the article, however, was incredibly misleading. Don't call it "Bin Laden hunt DLC" because it sounds better than "map loosely based on an area Bin Laden was hiding in."
Fact is Bin Ladin wasn't exactly what you'd call human. He was from another planet, probably Mars, where they've been plotting the extermination of humanity for decades. The whole "terrorism" thing was just a cover for their anti-human activities. They started in high-population, low tech areas and moved on from there. And, of course, the government covered the whole thing up.
Maybe they r doing this because they r upset that that whole news about US troops killing binladin was a hoax and that in the end the bloody picture of him ?that supposedly proved that he was killed? turned out to be fake. Maybe this is how they take out theyr frustration on the lies of the white house.
Still this is unacceptable. Don?t mix games with politics.
Why am I not surprised half of the comments are either hate for EA or conspiracy theories about bin Laden's death? I'm guessing talking about the actual game is out of the question........
@berserker66666 WTH, that's like saying every teenager in America should die because one of them murdered a person last week. Murdering innocent Israelis because of what someone from their country 'did' over here is not the solution.
@dawnofhero Absolutely not. You're right and I was overzealous. Murdering innocent lives is completely unacceptable. It's just that...so many innocent lives were lost in 9/11 and to think that Israel basically played their hands into this, just makes my blood boil. Those israelis who were responsible for this massacre must must pay.
This is the military-industrial complex invading the gaming industry. First they'll sell you any in-game weapon - now they'll get your dollars by allowing you to relive an event that is most likely bullshit to begin with. Sorry EA, not buying.
HELL YEAUH BRING IT ON, SON.Shooting 'sheet'-heads all day, I don't know about you guys but I've no sort of sentimental uhh, ''care'' for this. I'm just excited to shoot Bin Laden over and over in the face. I love these sort of ''real-life'' events represented in video-games.
I am just really uncomfortable with people (like EA) stating that these products aim to honor real life veterans vis-a-vis a modern FPS.. IMHO it's media pandering and needs to stop.
@GymFox to be fair the original campaign was publicized with interviews of real serving members of elite armed forces. so it's not really out of character for the developers
It's basically a way for them to bring more controversy to their game.. which in turn gets their name out there more. The more people that know about the game means more people will buy it so stirring up controversy is a common tactic.
Is it bad that I'm indifferent? It's EA...they've been saying over-the-top stuff about this game from the start. It's attention grabbing. I guess I'm just not surprised.
@Coren_Larken i don't blame you. it's just typical business tactics exploiting a guy whose name most people don't care is dragged through the mud. not surprising if it doesn't start a serious discussion on morals
@i_like_space it's really not shocking to those who played the first MOH single player campaign. the game pretty much jumps around like COD taking control of different squads only they're all American and has really ham-fisted dramatic patriotic moments forced into it too. they even had featurettes with real elite operations soldiers before the game came out
As long as they make a repeatable bounty for hunting the soulless recycled human garbage bags responsible for killing the team that originally took out said Bin Laden--AND for putting those same soldiers on that slow-boat to the afterlife they call a helicopter!! I think that would be a fitting tribute for those that were sacrificed in a duplicitous offering to appease those Satan-serving terrorists!
@thequickshooter i couldn't agree with you more buddy , if those fps nerds wanted to experience war so badly why cant they just join the army , i'm sure that'll reduce the amount of stupid in this planet
@anannna @thequickshooter : by the way im in the air force so ya i do get to experience war so u better watch it cause u dont know weather tht fps nerd is fighting in this war
already thinking about dlc when the game isn't even out? what? It's good they're donating a 1 $ for each sale but they do that so they don't have to pay taxes.
@omghaxor45 Actually you do. Even though you donate money you still have to pay a certain percentage out of every dollar donated. So if EA donates 1mil they still have to pay taxes ON anything between 400,000 to 600,000 (not sure on the number). Only a percentage of your donations are deductible.
@anannna @omghaxor45 really worst company huuh i thought infinity ward is worst company cause thy cant control hacks n mods on their games n 4 ur info little girl ea is the best gaming company out there n EA sports made mohw n im sure everyone here has some or one of their sports games tht they love so think b4 u comment on something u ignorant little girl
LOL just think how much money you can earn Russia, China, North Korea , Vietnam , Kuba ,Dr Kongo, Gvatanama, Chile, Argentina, Kambodza, Serbia, All Midle Asia excluding Turky and so on.......
now you are Not a strong believer in what you stand for, AND immoral? BUT we all do it wink, wink... just don't think openly stating it as something to be freakin' proud about LOL
And who are we kidding really, we are at Gamespot.com checking out Medal of Honor because we are either interested or playing it currently. Its silly to get worked up over it, and speaking of that I should probably stop responding.
But ask yourself this, if you are planning on playing any EA or US made games in the future, then maybe you don't really feel very strong in your belief do you?
I'm chinese actually. Even though I don't see eye to eye with american foreign policy sometimes, I get worked up seeing comments such as the one you made.
It is quite hypocritical and funny actually, because you began with "ffs, you americans.." which already made you ignorant and arrogant, thus rendering the rest of your comments invalid.
