EA partners with Sony Pictures for DLC based on upcoming Zero Dark Thirty movie; at least $1 million from sales to be donated to army charities.
Electronic Arts announced today that it has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring Danger Close's new shooter Medal of Honor Warfighter and upcoming Osama Bin Laden hunt movie Zero Dark Thirty together. The publisher will release a multiplayer map pack based on the movie for Warfighter the week of December 17, in conjunction with the film's release, with a portion of the map pack sales going to army charities.
EA said will will donate $1 from every Zero Dark Thirty map pack (known as The Hunt map pack in Europe) sold for a total of at least $1 million given through its previously announced Project Honor campaign. This effort sees the publisher giving to nonprofit veterans organizations.
The Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition includes the Zero Dark Thirty DLC. Those who preorder Medal of Honor Warfighter will be automatically upgraded to the limited edition, and are also granted access to next year's Battlefield 4 beta.
The Zero Dark Thirty map pack includes two new multiplayer maps set in real-world locations, the first of which takes place in Pakistan's Darra Gun Market, an illegal arms marketplace. The second map is set in Pakistan's far north Chitral region, where Bin Laden was believed to be residing for a period.
According to EA COO Peter Moore, the partnership with Sony Pictures is two-fold. The executive explained it will serve as a means to honor the sacrifices the soldiers and their families have made, and also to bring gamers closer to the "greatest manhunt our world has ever seen."
Medal of Honor Warfighter is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 23 in North America and October 26 in Europe. The game follows a group of US Tier 1 operators as they take the fight to terrorists around the world in locations like the Philippines and Somalia.

But I might as well just buy it for the sake of charity. Charity for the serving men and women of USA or Israel or EU or Russia or UK and maybe The Phillipines even though I don't even live in any of those countries.
but hey, charity is always a good when it means reliefs for army families.
I just hope the money won't be used for funding armed conflicts.

The title of the article, however, was incredibly misleading. Don't call it "Bin Laden hunt DLC" because it sounds better than "map loosely based on an area Bin Laden was hiding in."
Fact is Bin Ladin wasn't exactly what you'd call human. He was from another planet, probably Mars, where they've been plotting the extermination of humanity for decades. The whole "terrorism" thing was just a cover for their anti-human activities. They started in high-population, low tech areas and moved on from there. And, of course, the government covered the whole thing up.

It's just that...so many innocent lives were lost in 9/11 and to think that Israel basically played their hands into this, just makes my blood boil. I am just really uncomfortable with people (like EA) stating that these products aim to honor real life veterans vis-a-vis a modern FPS.. IMHO it's media pandering and needs to stop.
It's basically a way for them to bring more controversy to their game.. which in turn gets their name out there more. The more people that know about the game means more people will buy it so stirring up controversy is a common tactic.

@i_like_space it's really not shocking to those who played the first MOH single player campaign. the game pretty much jumps around like COD taking control of different squads only they're all American and has really ham-fisted dramatic patriotic moments forced into it too. they even had featurettes with real elite operations soldiers before the game came out
As long as they make a repeatable bounty for hunting the soulless recycled human garbage bags responsible for killing the team that originally took out said Bin Laden--AND for putting those same soldiers on that slow-boat to the afterlife they call a helicopter!! I think that would be a fitting tribute for those that were sacrificed in a duplicitous offering to appease those Satan-serving terrorists!

@omghaxor45 Actually you do. Even though you donate money you still have to pay a certain percentage out of every dollar donated. So if EA donates 1mil they still have to pay taxes ON anything between 400,000 to 600,000 (not sure on the number). Only a percentage of your donations are deductible.
