Konami confirms 25th Anniversary Edition is PS3-exclusive, will release next month in UK; no mention of US release.
Konami today confirmed to Eurogamer that Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition is a PlayStation 3 exclusive after being first revealed by various retailers earlier this month. Today a listing was also spotted for Xbox 360, sparking speculation that the action game would release outside PlayStation 3. This is not the case.
"Sorry, this product is not currently available to order," the statement reads.“It's a welcome return to the rumour. But there are no plans to release Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360.”
Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition includes trophy support and is due out in December in the United Kingdom for £20, or about $30. It is not clear if the game will release in the United States or other territories.
As part of its 25th anniversary celebration for the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Konami this summer announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes as well as a full-length feature film based on the series.
Old game, old graphics, not that fun either. I would pass even if it came to 360, not to mention ive tried to force myself to finish it a few times on my ps3, and keep getting so bored I give up on it.
@Phazevariance Old graphics, yes. But the best there is for the PS3 and XBOX360
@Phazevariance WHAT THE HELL.
You my friend have issues. The game is brilliant!! :O
@warhawk-geeby Having not played mgs1-3, 4 wasnt able to hold my interest story wise. It's not issues, it's just not fanboyism.
@Phazevariance if you have it on PS3 already why would you even want it now on 360 anyway?
I see almost everyone talking about consoles, but not about the announced film based on the series. What those that mean??? "based on". Is it a different story or will it be a movie that takes some elements, perhaps those "not-too-complex ones" so you go all "what the F!" after seeing it??? Being MGS story a really big universe, will it be only one or more than one? I'm not sure if a movie's going to work ok. I've enjoyed MGS for so many years and don't want to see it screwed with a bad movie, as has happened SO MANY TIMES already with other games (mario, mortal kombat, double dragon, street fighter, D&D, doom, tomb raider, silent hill, DOA, max payne, prince of persia, resident evil, hitman... all off these, really offensive material)
the konami would triple sales if it were to xbox ... not to mention that the graphics would be much better without jaggies...
@arcadianobr Triple sales...
Hahaha. Best statement I've read on here in a long long time. Seriously doubt it some how, it probably wouldn't even double the sales due to how old the game is.
I also don't think the user-base for the 360 would really support such a game. It would sell yeah, but not as much as for Sony's console.
@arcadianobr Graphics would be much better lmfao any ps3 exclusive will have to be lowered in graphics as a lazy port to run on the xbox360 by now ppl all know the ps3 has more power that's just a fact i'm not a fan boy i own all 3 i'm just saying
@arcadianobr nope, no jaggies.
@arcadianobr I just got through the game and didn't see any jaggies, it looks awesome. Gonna play it again and I'll tell you
@Phil-teh-Pirate I played this game over a period of months, whenever a friend came back home from uni we'd do another chapter.. lasted us forever.
Upon completion it was hands down one of THE best gaming moments this generation. It was epic - but as in the proper sense of the word.
Near perfection in my opinion.
not sure if i'm want to play it on X360 , i think the game mechanic and control is suit Sony console system better than Microsoft
@dark_rising76 konami games sell double if not triple numbers on on sony console so no wonder they dont care of the xbot + they have asia on their side
People still going with this? oh my!No offense, but if they wished the game that much they had 7 years to have both PS3 and X360 (And a PC, none should overlook steam)
I am going to get much hate for this, but MGS4 is highly overrated, and I am a Sony guy all the way.
@tightwad34 Well, you have to have some knowledge beforehand. The best thing are those references and i think it is a fitting and great ending (and the ending of this ending is really terrific). Gameplay wise it's still far better than let's say dishonored as it has some replay value since no one playing it without a walkthrough can find everything in one go. The problem is that it's too easy even on The Boss.
There really wasn't any one thing that jumed out at me when I played it, other than maybe the Octo-suit Snake wore. That thing was pretty cool.
@tightwad34 That is not true, MGS4 Is one of the best games in the current generation, is flawless and has no bugs like the most like skyrim, mass effect, and Dishonored, these games are a perfect example of overrated games.
It's only my opinion. I do agree that ME and Skyrim are somewhat overrated, but I also can see why they are so popular. I haven't played Dishonored so I can't say on that one, but I have seen a friend play it and it doesn't look all that appealing to me. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a highly acclaimed game yet, I mean it hasn't won any awards yet.
@MaxBlaze poor guy....go back to your fighting games and keep that trash shut if u dont have a clue what u saying kkthxbb.
@MaxBlaze Stating one's opinion isn't trolling and I'd tend to agree that in trying to give us everything (bless Kojima's heart), he gave us a stiff third person shooter with magical infinite weapons & ammo and a story that made MGS2's seem coherent by comparison.
A "10" lives in this game for sure, but not for me because I wasn't smart enough to play it "the right way". MGS3 is the strongest by far. Not in my opinion. It just is.
@MaxBlaze MGS4 is the wurst of the series :D
@MaxBlaze Bad troll.
@farcorners Not exactly, Uncharted is published by Sony (and they are smart enough not to lose good exclusives like Microsoft does), but MGS4 was published by Konami who aren't tied to any platform. It was released for PS3 because it was better for the game (the game is 40 Gb half of which are cutscenes). I still doubt it will be released for X360 'cause Kojima doesn't care. As he said once - no matter on what platform are you playing as long as the game is good, I guess he was right. Besides the game is really good so it well worth of buying PS3.
One of the reasons why I bought the PS3 is to play MGS4 and it took me 2 weeks to get the Platinum trophy for this one (I did 9 playthroughs I think). Although I got the Xbox 360 a bit too late, I'm enjoying both consoles so far. :)
Seems a bit silly they're not releasing it on 360, although Kojima is pretty Pro-Sony, so it's not surprising. I own 360 & PS3, so it's not like I'm missing out. Would've liked to play MGS4 with a decent (Xbox 360) control pad though. I hate the PS3 controller. Crap analogue sticks, crap triggers. Main reason why the 360 is my primary console. Oh well, at least the HD collection came out on Xbox. MGS3 was the best in the series, by far. 4 was good, but it just seemed like a big cinematic. Could've done with more actual gameplay.
@tizmond Triggers have come a long way. Crap analogue sticks? PS2 had more durable analogs than 360. Why? Cause that's what you replace broken 360 sticks with.
I'm tempted to buy it again for the alternate box art. I'm kind of a nut for collecting metal gear stuff.
