Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Alan Wake news coming at 2011 VGAs
[UPDATE]: Microsoft confirms Alan Wake stand-alone XBLA project as Spike TV executive producer and host Geoff Keighley teases big reveals set for next month's Video Game Awards.
Last year, the Spike TV Video Game Awards played host to a number of big game announcements, including reveals of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Prototype 2, Mass Effect 3, Insane, SSX (then titled SSX: Deadly Descents), and more. This year's show is just over a month away and a few morsels regarding forthcoming reveals have already been spilled.
Geoff Keighley, Spike TV executive producer and host, took to his Twitter feed earlier today to share a few details about some of the big reveals in store for this year's awards.
After being almost completely missing in action since its unveiling at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Metal Gear Solid: Rising may be set to make a return. Keighley said on Twitter that "the truth" about the game will be revealed during this year's VGAs.
The VGAs will also play host to the return of Alan Wake. Remedy franchise development chief Oskari Hakkinen acknowledged the existence of an Alan Wake follow-up earlier this year, and Keighley indicated that the writer's return will be highlighted at the show. Finally, he said BioWare is also slated to tease a new game from a new studio at the event.
The 2011 VGAs takes place on December 10 and will be broadcast live on Spike TV and MTV2, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific.
[UPDATE] Microsoft has issued an update with further details on the forthcoming release. Xbox Live director of programmingLarry "Major Nelson" Hryb clarified via his own Twitter account that the new Alan Wake will be a "fully stand-alone experience" and released via Xbox Live. There is no official word on a release window, but the previously cited report targeted fall 2011.

Considering they're having news on the new Metal Gear and more importantly ALAN WAKE, I might consider watching this time.
I wasn't hyped for MGS4 and it turned out awesome. Now i'm not Hyped for RISING so lets hope i'm wrong again, but its kinda feeling like Supernatural TV series, started great on season one, got even better on season two but then it was just milk milk milk and they pretty much ruined it. MGS4 was an awesome ending and they should stick with that, but who am i kidding? Now adays everything that makes money will be milked to the last drop, it will end kinda like sonic, i loved sonic games on the Sega Genesis i've spent hours playing them with my bother controlling tails on the Sonic 2 i think, it was wonderful, seeing the series now adays kinda makes me sad if i'm honest.
max payne + silent hill = alan wake and it is one of the best game ever made... can't wait for MGS RISING!!!!
MORE ALAN WAKE!! :D Bring to the PC please, and I'll be one happy customer ^_^ (that said, I'd hate to see the game get pirated, so I'll understand if it's kept to Xbox only)
looks very similar to a devil may cry, not sure how this will work out since its very differnet from all the other metal gear games
They nominated Skyrim for game of the year and it's not even out yet. What a joke of a show. People, please DO NOT watch it. Watching it would only encourage this.
Finally some news about Rising. My mouth is still watering after seeing all the melon slicing action a while ago.
I think the truth they will reveal about Metal Gear Solid Rising is that it is a cancelled project.

Alan Wake was pretty good -- one of the better survival-horror games I've played this generation (certainly better than the traditional heavy-weights, Resident Evil and Silent Hill). I'll take another. I just hope the news that this new Alan Wake game will be an XBLA title is wrong.
Alan Wake was a blast! Can't wait for more. I hope there are more improvements in the game, the engine and gameplay.
I watched this a couple of times. Their voting is totally biased. They always go with whatever seems popular and it seems to be the Xbox. I remember one year, the best Nintendo game was like a music game when it should of been like Smash Bros. or Mario Galaxy or something like that.
About time we get some news on MGS: Rising. I hope it gets released next year before the E3. I doubt it will, but I'm hoping. Curious as to what Alan Wake is going to be like coming off the Xbox Live. I hope it doesn't turn out like Burnout Crash.
Finally some good news, I was also following MGS:R since its 2009 announcement and I am glad they will also make it available for the PC :D
I have been following Metal Gear Solid Rising since E3 2009,2010 and I'm glad to see it will be on Spike TV VGA this December and a new Alan Wake is always welcome and Raiden is going to put all the Jedi Knights to Shame if you know what I mean.
MGS Rising looked like it could be quite brilliant with its cutting system. hoping for a 2012 release and that they have got it right! :D MGS on PC! :P
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally after two years they are gonna show the game. BTW no news on final fantasy versus 13. its been in develpment for 6 years.
