Microsoft Flight beta registration opens

In case you didn't know, this is no longer a simulator. There were complaints to Microsoft about it and they had to take the word "simulator" out of the name. It's more like Grid for planes now.

It seems that I can't make a gamertag... Whenever I fill in all the information needed and click on I agree, it gives me "You found a glitch in the system". I tried couple of days ago and today and still the same thing shows up. Because of Gamertag, I can't participate in the beta or even try to. Any help!??!

I wish they will make Age of empires 4.

I wonder how much Microsoft will charge for the planes like they did with the train simulator.

@PC_Otter It is. The game runs perfect. I'm using a Intel 2500K and HD 6950 2GB CF. These games are real CPU hogs because of the physics. My Intel Q9550 and 4870 had problems with it.

Hopefully this will be fully multithreaded and multicore enabled because FSX still runs like pooh on my Phenom II x4 and Radeon 5850 which is utterly ridiculous.

@CUDGEdave I own the game and I see nothing wrong with the visuals and they're at full. Is your graphics cards DX11 compatible? The graphics look pretty awesome on my system. Edit: I read on the forums that the game will reset to the default settings on some systems but an update fixed that problem. The default is very low resolution.

why are so many of you opposed to the CFS series?

Happy for the possible return of flight sim on current technology. Get to dust off my flight yoke

Hope this game is a real good one. They need to make combat missions for online so it can compete with Battlefield, cause no one would play otherwise!

@namdar: Are you crazy? NOTHING is better than Street Cleaning Simulator, although it is definite that Flight Simulator X stands on the podium for second, with Oil Platform Simulator and City Bus Simulator 2010 tied for third.

They should make this on xbox. it looks promising for kinect and also show full use of that wireless wheel they just launched

Signed up. Love flight sims, not played one for a while though. Now I just need to find a relatively compact joystick with good buttons and control. Sold PC got Laptop. Any suggestions for a joystick folks? :D Fingers crossed I get to join the beta.

Looking forward to the new incarnated series! Just played a session of MS FS9 to get the wings up again.

You'd think at some point they'd be able to bundle this with CFS. Sometimes you just want to carry a few hundred people across the Atlantic, sometimes you just want to shoot some nazis/commies out of the sky

A great series comes back. Another dead series that I'd like to see revived is Railroad Tycoon.

@emmanuel123 real flight dynamics + porting old planes???? If its using true flight dynamics then its going to be a huge process to move an older gen plane to this game, theres no way to port an older flight model plane if its going to be completely redone. Sure someone could completely remake them but that wouldnt be porting : )

Used to love flight simulator as a kid. Sadly, things just haven't been the same without my MS Sidewinder.

Whatever happend to COMBAT FLIGHT SIMLATOR??? Where is FIGHTER ACE? Doggone I loved flying those aiplanes shooting each other down to pieces? They're both gone. What happened? Don't tell me IL sturmovick is any kinda fighter plane combat game. Why doesnt somebody come up with a good rootintootin shoot you to pieces with my mustang or fockewulf on your 6, your done combat fighter plane game again??

Can't wait! I enjoyed Flight Sim X way too much! @brok It's a flight sim, it's not grand theft auto. This is more about being a Pilot, how a plane works and how to handle it.

Can you land your plane and get out and walk around? If you can't, then the game is already totally obsolete. Oh well, looks like they're at least expanding the plane roster, I guess.
