I have played most NBA sports games and have to say this game is not even close to being a "Great game". The play is sluggish , PG will call a play and if you do not get where it wants you , it will stand there till time runs out. You take 1 step and you may end up running 2-7 steps past the man you are to be guarding. Holding in a station position you can hit the button to steal and your man will lunge into the other player and draw the foul. Charge is a pain and only works about 2% of the time. Team Chemistry is broken and drops even when you answer everything with a arrow up in team Chemistry. Wide open shots will often be missed even when you are maxed in that ranged skill. The game is a joke and 2k should never have released it like it is. When asked if they were going to patch any of these things in the game , I was banned from their forum for "Trolling". I will never buy another 2k game again.
2K Sports touts top stats for its latest hardwood sim, saying the game has become the fastest seller for the series and publishing label.
In the words of the inimitable Woody Allen, "80 percent of success is showing up." Its solid critical reception aside, such can most certainly be said of 2K Sports' NBA 2K11. After EA Sports canceled the reboot to its annualized basketball sim--NBA Elite 11--last year, NBA 2K11 went on to lead NPD's US retail sales charts in October and place in the top 10 for the remainder of 2010.
Today, 2K Sports put a number to NBA 2K11's success, announcing that the game has now sold nearly 4 million units worldwide. According to the publisher, NBA 2K11's performance equates to the fastest selling title both for the franchise and the publishing label.
Developed by Visual Concepts, NBA 2K11 is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, and PC. Hall of Famer Michael Jordan graces the title's cover and is featured in the game as a playable character. Further, the game embraces Jordan more fully by including a handful of Jordan Challenges, including "The Flu Game," in which the famed Bulls star scored 39 points while ill during a 1997 NBA Final game.
I love this game. Best sports game I have played. It is so rich and deep I find new things and moves everyday!
so sorry for the rant guys, i was raised on LIVE and can not support MJ because i am Cleveland sports fan, plus LbJ ruined my team, NBA 2K never felt right too me any way every time i tried to play it
when the ps2 dies we are gonna see a really big jump in sports games.... untill then we get the same games with slighty better graphics
@oneligas you can go to EDIT PLAYER and change the players position/secondary position. you can change the sliders to make it so the AI doesn't STEAL from you, also practicing helps this and not making ridiculous passes. if you dont like some of the point guards, go to EDIT PLAYER and turn their vertical down. for your dribbling issues and unsatisfying quarter problems, maybe turn the quarters down a little?? and once again you can always change the sliders to fix it more of your liking as 2k11 is a BASKETBALL SIMULATOR????? or you could always just go play live.... but who would wanna do that?
@ Oneligas...You haven't played NBA2k11 obviously so that wall of text you wrote is worthless...This game is probably the hardest basketball game I've ever played because you can't just dribble around people or make full court passes. It punishes your every mistake.
the NBA 2K brand lost me at 2K2 on Dreamcast and i have disliked it ever since. my main reasons still stand that NBA 2K games are too street ball flavored.i want auto substitutions that make sense/or i like being able to make my own substitutions that the cpu doesn't undo just after i make them, and i like being able to correct players positions such as change a SF to a PF, or having direct passing that doesn't always turn into steals. i don't like the NBA 2K players ratings that gave certain Stars the ability of unstoppable scoring gods, NBA 2K always seemed to have gimmicky cpu defence that turns a short defenceless point guard into a 5'10" Dikembe Mutombo block machines or centers that start auto stealing within ten feet of paint and has the cpu playing uncanny and unstoppable full court pressure on every freaking second of the game. NBA 2K has dribbling that uses moves left over from 1980's break dancing videos / the Harlem Globetrotters / And 1 tour mix videos. the NBA 2K games are centered around 2 minute quarters and flashy ESPN top ten high lights, i prefer a basketball simulator style with emphasis towards 7+ minute quarters and NBA 2k just doesn't provide it for me.
I hope this motivates 2ksports to get the football license when the exclusive deal is up. I need my 2kfootball madden sucks.
it's only appropriate that a 2k game featuring michael jordan not only is one of the best in the series but also had no competition....just like when he played.
I'm not even Into basketball that much... And i play it everyday...it's the greatest basketball game ever
Still playing it everyday now. This game just has so much going for it that you can't really not like it if your into basketball.
Great news. 2BK always respect the fans with quality always coming before style (are you listening EA?). Roll on NBA2K12...
This is the first sports game I've ever bought, and probably the last for many years to come. Not even that into sports, but this game's a gem.
And heck, the best basketball game ever created only got 8.0 from GS. IGN gave it 9.5 which I think is the right score for this awesome game. :(
NBA 2K11 is the best basketball game I've ever played and it's one of the best sports sims I've played
Almost perfection. They just need to fix the passing and the crazy amount of steals that happen by inhuman players. There are still minor bugs, but the game play shines. If they just fix the passing, steals and ball passing through players bodies (yeah it still happens) I would be satisfied. I don't know what they are going to do for 2012. They really don't need it. Just provided a download to upgrade to 2012 season with the fixes and new rosters for $15 and I'd be happy. If they are going to this treatment for another player, they should do Larry Bird or Magic Johnson next. I'd love to try the game in 3D just to see what it looks like.
I just got it a day ago and the day i got it my dog knocked over my 360 which scratched the disc and gamestop wont let me return it
Irony: 2K Sports has record sales the very year its major competitor, EA Sports, does not release its version of the sports franchise. And to think this was achieved without an exclusivity deal with the NBA, as opposed to Madden with the NFL.
Awesome news, but it's going to be very hard for them to top this. Is a yearly revision really viable for the genre? (I suppose it must be, since they've been going for so long)... I've always loved Sega Sports/2K Sports games over EA's.
It was a fantastic game, and one of the most enjoyable sports games of this generation. Great soundtrack as well. I do hope they work on the passing next season though.
Id love to pick up NBA 2K11 and play the Jordan Challenge, maybe in the future when the price goes down cause 2011 is loaded with great games.
This is probably one of my favorite games of all time. Getting a chance to play the 'moments' as they are called was enjoyable. Made me watch the old VHS tapes of various NBA playoff games recorded from the 90s. Good going Visual Concepts and 2K Sports, you deserve it.
I'm so happy for 2K Sports they are finally reaching sales' numbers that are worthy of the quality of their games. While I haven't yet bought it, I'll do it as soon as possible. I gotta get two copies, one for the PS3 and one for the X360.
